• HANNA CITY – Police were dispatched near the Hanna City Dollar General on Nov. 20 in regard to a truck stuck in a ditch, according to a Peoria County Sheriff report. The driver, Solomon C. Taylor, 41, “appeared to be sleeping.” When police questioned him, he stated he had been working long hours and needed sleep. He also said he was not under the influence of alcohol. A field sobriety test backed up his claim, however, a box under the driver’s seat contained cocaine and methamphetamine. Taylor was charged with possession of the drugs and driving on a revoked license. At one point, the Logan Trivoli Fire Department was called because Taylor “began to sweat only on one side of his body.” But Taylor refused to be taken to the hospital. He was given an order to appear in court in March. His truck was towed from the scene.
• HANNA CITY – Timothy P. Pelka, 23, of Hanna City was charged on Nov. 26 with DUI alcohol, driving an uninsured motor vehicle/bodily harm, and improper traffic lane usage.
• GALESBURG – A Galesburg man was cited for illegal dumping on Oct. 17 after an Elmwood man spotted him while hunting on property owned by another Elmwood man, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s report. The hunter, who called police, said the owner of the property has had problems with illegal dumping.
• DAHINDA – According to a Nov. 2 Knox County Sheriff report, a Dahinda man was the victim in an unemployment fraud, whereby someone had filed for benefits under his name. A report was filed with the Illinois Department of Employment Security Office.
