The Weekly Post and The Prairie News will not publish a June 11/12 edition. We will be taking our annual summer vacation this week. Our offices will be closed from Friday, June 5 through Thursday, June 11. We will resume operations and our offices will be open, as normal, on Friday June 12. The Weekly Post deadline for advertizing will be Monday, June 15 at noon for the for the June 18 edition. Princeville updated on projects

By ANDY LATORAFor The Weekly Post PRINCEVILLE – Chad Gardner likely reached his pitch count Monday night at the Princeville Board of Trustees meeting at Village Hall. Gardner, Princeville’s superintendent of public works, updated the board on the progress of projects underway in the village. The update was lengthy, but for good reason. Gardner had been absent from the twice-a-month board meetings for a bit since he’s also the softball coach at Princeville High School. Among the items the crowd heard was a recommendation by Mat Schnepple, the director of the Henry-Stark County Office of Emergency Services, to place a moratorium on the project proposed by Lapis Carbon Solutions and the Big River Resources ethanol plant. Scott Perkins and Bobby Brown hope that leads to at least 16 new residents. The husband-and-wife team are the owners of Country Aire Senior Manor, a new independent-living facility along Illinois Route 180.
