• FARMINGTON – Police arrested a Farmington man accused of hitting and kicking his adult daughter.
The incident happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at a residence in the 700 block of E. Vernon St. in Farmington. The 37-year-old victim said Gary C. Kling, 66, hit her on the left side of her chest and kicked her in the upper-left hip.
According to a Farmington Police Department report, the victim’s mother corroborated the account. Kling was charged with domestic battery and transported to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
Transported to the jail as well was another woman at the residence, 46-year-old Julie A. Cramer-Pliego of Des Moines, Iowa. She was wanted in Fulton County for failure to pay a tag fee. The report didn’t state for what kind of tags Cramer-Pliego was accused of not paying.
• DUNLAP – No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision south of Dunlap that involved a driver from Princeville.
About 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 4, Lauren M. Trees was behind the wheel of a 2003 Buick Century south in the 12200 block of N. Illinois Route 91 when the vehicle rear-ended a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. Its driver was James L. Swingler of Dunlap.
Swingler said he slowed to turn at a driveway, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. Trees said she didn’t see the Wrangler slow. Her car sustained a bent hood, a cracked radiator and bumper and a broken driver’s-side headlight. The rear passenger side of the Wrangler was dented.
• PEORIA – A Hanna City man was transported to a hospital after a three-vehicle chain-reaction accident near the Peoria international airport.
Ronald R. Roberts was behind the wheel of a 2012 Ford F150 pickup truck about 7:45 p.m. Feb. 3 at Airport Road and Dirksen Parkway when his vehicle struck a 2016 Hyundai Accent driven by Angelina P. Johnson of Peoria. That vehicle then struck a 2019 Subaru driven by Jennifer M. Badoni of Holland, Ohio.
Roberts’ vehicle was northbound on Airport Road but turned abruptly, according to witnesses. Roberts said he blacked out before the wreck, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. Emergency-medical personnel determined Roberts’ blood-sugar level was low.
An ambulance carried Roberts to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for further care. Otherwise, Roberts reported no injuries. Neither did the other two drivers nor their passengers, one each.
Roberts was cited for improper lane use and for operating an uninsured vehicle.
• BRIMFIELD – A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot to death an injured deer found east of Brimfield.
The deputy arrived about 7:30 a.m. Jan. 29 at the 16100 block of W. Brimfield-Jubilee Rd. after he was notified about the immobile deer. The deer was located on the north side of the road and appeared to have two broken legs, according to a sheriff’s-office report.
After a superior granted approval, the deputy used his service weapon to dispatch the deer without incident.
• FARMINGTON – A Glasford man declined a hospital visit after a single-vehicle accident near Farmington.
About 10:30 p.m. Jan. 26, Sean A. Duffield was driving a 2014 Ford F150 pickup truck south in the 1300 block of S. Downs School Rd. when the vehicle slid on ice, left the pavement and struck a utility pole.
Fulton County emergency medical personnel were treating Duffield when a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived. Duffield refused additional care and did not appear injured, according to a sheriff’s-office report. Ameren removed the pole and utility lines from the pickup truck, which was towed.
• BRIMFIELD – No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle accident east of Brimfield that involved a FedEx delivery truck.
About 2 p.m. Jan. 26, Kathryn S. Seneca of Canton was driving a 2021 Ford box truck north in the 13200 block of N. Maher Rd. when it slid on ice. Seneca lost control of the truck, which struck a guardrail and sustained heavy front-end damage. A tow truck was required.
• ELMWOOD – An East Peoria woman’s vehicle struck a tree after she lost control on a slick road east of Elmwood, according to authorities.
Sydney C. Strum was driving an eastbound 2018 Jeep Compass about 7:30 a.m. Jan. 25 on Illinois Route 8 about one-half mile east of Bell School Road when the vehicle began to fishtail on the snow-covered pavement, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
The vehicle slid backward into the north-side ditch, hit the tree and stopped. Strum said she was sore, but she declined medical treatment.
The Compass sustained damage to its passenger-side rear fender, rear axle and roof. The driver’s-side rear tire also was broken away from the rear axle.
• NORWOOD – A vehicle registered to a Brimfield man was found turned on its driver’s side next to a road west of Norwood.
The 2008 Ford F150 pickup truck along the east side of the 1400 block of N. Christ Church Rd. was unoccupied and covered in snow when a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy discovered it about 8 a.m. Jan. 22.
According to the deputy’s report, the F150 sustained heavy front-end and driver’s-side damage, including a broken left window.
The deputy theorized the truck was traveling south and struck a culvert on the east side of the road. He attempted to contact the owner at his residence, to no avail.
• BRIMFIELD – An Elmwood woman sustained a minor leg injury when wind gusts caused her to lose control of her vehicle on a road southwest of Brimfield.
Brittany M. Estes was driving an eastbound 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 15 in the 19500 block of W. Claybaugh Rd. when the vehicle left the pavement and rolled over into a field, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
An ambulance transported Estes to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Her vehicle sustained more than $1,500 in damage.
• HANNA CITY – At 6 p.m. Jan. 23, Jill M. Conner was driving a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas westbound in the 13000 block of W. Farmington Rd. in Hanna City when the vehicle struck a deer.
Conner, whose hometown was unavailable, was uninjured, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained more than $1,500 in damage to the front-right quarter-panel.
• KICKAPOO – Shortly after 5:45 p.m. Jan. 23, Jason J. Eads of Edwards was driving a 2019 Lexus GX460 north on Gilles Road near Interstate 74 when the vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. The impact damaged the vehicle’s passenger-side front bumper and headlight area.
• ELMWOOD – Jose R. DeJesus, 31, of Elmwood was arrested shortly after 7 a.m. Feb. 9 and accused of residential burglary, unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle and criminal damage to property between $500 and $10,000, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• FARMINGTON – Alicia L. Phillips, 32, of Farmington was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. on Feb. 6 and accused of unlawful possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a hypodermic syringe or needle, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• BRIMFIELD – Andrew M. Johnson, 26, of Brimfield was arrested at 12:15 a.m. Feb. 5 and accused of failure to appear in court and of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• EDELSTEIN – Michael E. Toohey, 45, of Edelstein was arrested at 11 a.m. Feb. 2 and accused of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• YATES CITY – Yates City Police Chief Randy Benson reported the following activity for his department in January: 0 arrests, 1 citation, 0 open doors, 12 reports, 7 warnings, 0 ordinance violations, 8 traffic stops and 733 miles traveled.
• YATES CITY – Yates City police on Jan. 13 forwarded information to the Knox County State’s Attorney from an alleged bank fraud case involving the Bank of Yates City.
According to a police report, Clinton J. Shaffer, 46, of Farmington opened a savings account with The Bank of Yates City and cashed fraudulent checks totalling $5,550 that were written from an account with the Pelican State Credit Union of Baton Rouge, La. Checks were cashed from Dec. 16-23 before a final check was held.
Police received an email from Pelican State Credit Union on Jan. 13 stating Shaffer’s account was not in good standing and appeared to have been associated with additional fraudulent activity.
