9-14 – Christopher M. Morrow – Domestic violence – Two counts of domestic battery and interferring with reporting domestic violence.
Incidents & Accidents
8-25 – A deer-related vehicle accident occurred on Route 40 involving a 2015 Chevy Tahoe owned by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Adam Henson reported that a deer ran out of a field and into the path of the oncoming vehicle. The driver was unable to avoid striking the animal. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle did sustain estimated damages of over $1,500.
9-13 – Heather C. Huckaba, Princeville, reported that their farm residence had been broken into. The incident remains under investigation.
9-14 – Andon M. Shafer, 20, Kewanee, was cited for driving on a suspended registration. He was issued a court date to appear.
9-14 – Christopher M. Morrow, 20, Wyoming, was arrested for domestic battery and interfering with a report for domestic violence. He was transported to Stark County Jail. Cash bond was set at $250.
9-17 – Jeremy A. Thomas, 31, Scottsville, Ky., was ticketed for speeding 71 mph in a 55 zone and for unlawful use of a weapon. He was released with a notice to appear.

Officer dispatched:
9-11 – to a residence on NE 2nd St. to assist the ambulance with an aggressive patient having a medical emergency.
9-11 – As the result of a complaint yesterday involving broken windows and trespassing at an abandoned house, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, both from Galva, were issued a juvenile referrals to court for trespassing and criminal damage to property. They were each turned over to their parents.
9-12 – to the 200 block of Main St. for a complaint involving a dead fox in the roadway. It was removed.
9-12 – to the area of SE 5th St. and SE 3rd Ave. for a loose pit bull complaint. Owner was putting dog back into house upon officer’s arrival.
9-12 – to the 100 block of SW 9th Ave. for a damage to property complaint involving a vehicle that drove through complainant’s yard after missing the curb of the road.
9-12 – to the 00 block of NE 4th St. for a complaint involving a mental health crisis.
9-12 – to the 100 block of NE 1st St. for a complaint involving two loose dogs. Two owners were advised of Illinois leash law for all pets.
9-12 – along with the fire department and Stark County Medic, to a natural gas leak in the 00 block of NE 8th St. The leak was coming from a tank on a nearby camper.
9-12 – to downtown area for a traffic complaint involving reckless driving. The suspect vehicle was located and the juvenile driver was warned.
9-12 – to the 00 block of NE 4th St. for complaints involving 27 false calls to Henry County 911. As the result, John Kurzeja, 42, Galva, was arrested for disorderly conduct, false reporting to a police agency and resisting arrest. He was taken to Henry County Jail after a brief struggle.
9-12 – to a residence on NE 3rd St. for a suicidal juvenile. The subject was transported by ambulance for treatmentevaluation.
9-12 – to a house on NE 3rd St. for a suicidal subject holding a knife. This subject was also taken by ambulance for evaluation/treatment.
9-12 – Drew Fox, 45, Shelbyville, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1200 block of SE 2nd St.
9-13 – to Wiley Park for a complaint involving a utility pole that broke off, due to old age, and wires were hanging low.
9-13 – Officer conducted a welfare check on a Galva resident who sent a family member several text messages that were possibly suicidal. Officer contacted another police agency and the subject was located.
9-13 – to the 800 block of NE 3rd St. to assist a subject who had questions about a FOID card. They were referred to the Illinois State Police.
9-13 – to a business in Galva in reference to a theft of over $500 complaint. This case is pending.
9-13 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 800 block of N. Center Ave., a 17-year-old driver from Cambridge was issued a referral for reckless conduct after a juvenile passenger was seen sitting on the passenger door while a vehicle was in motion. The 15-year-old Galva passenger was citated for failure to wear a seatbelt.
9-13 – Melissa Hochstatter, 55, Wyanet, was issued a citation for disobeying a stop sign at Commercial St. and SW 2nd St.
9-14 – Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD in reference to a subject leaving a note on complainant’s front door after a court order to not have any contact.
9-14 – to the 100 block of S. Center Ave. for a civil complaint involving a vehicle that was loaned but not returned. The subject contacted the vehicle owner and made arrangements to return it.
9-14 – to the 00 block of Chester St. of a civil property dispute.
9-14 – to the 300 block of SE 3rd St. for a child custody dispute.
9-14 – to the area of NW 4th Ave. and NW 2nd St. for a loose-dog complaint. Officer was not able to locate.
9-14 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of SE 3rd Ave., Haley Peed, 23, Kewanee was arrested for possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
9-14 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 00 block of NW 5th Ave., Delores Garza, 29, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration is suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a court date.
9-15 – Officer checked on a suspicious vehicle that was parked on NE 9th St. near the Galva Sewer Plant late at night. It was a teenager who had a verbal disagreement with their parents. They were advised to move along.
9-15 – Officer located a checkbook in the 1300 block of SE 2nd St. Officer was unable to locate the owner.
9-15 – Officer was advised of a child custody issue on SE 2nd St.
9-15 – to the 200 block of NW 2nd Ave. for an injured baby squirrel. A wildlife rehabilitator was contacted and took the squirrel.
9-16 – to the 300 block of Front St. for a physical fight. The victim declined to press charges.
9-16 – to the 200 block of SW 7th St. for a telephone-harassment complaint.
9-16 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of Commercial St., Williams Johnston, 51, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration is suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
9-16 – to a residence on South Center Ave for a juvenile bullying complaint.
9-17 – to Wiley Park for a complaint about teenagers using inappropriate language around younger children.
9-17 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 5th Ave., Ronald Bombliss, 64, Galva, was cited for not having valid registration and for operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
9-17 – to the 00 block of SE 2nd Ave. for a disturbance complaint.
