Incidents & Accidents
9-26 – At 5 a.m., Christine A. Schmidt of Toulon was driving south in the 1500 block of N. Taylor Rd. near Hanna City when the vehicle struck a deer. An ambulance transported Schmidt, who complained of chest pain, to Carle Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria. The vehicle sustained front-end damage and was towed.
10-10 – Brian T. Price, 51, Kewanee, cited for speeding 71 mph in a 55 zone and for operating an uninsured vehicle.
10-10 – Irene Martinez Bermudez, 25, Kewanee, ticketed for not having a front registration plate and for driving with no insurance.
10-10 – Drake D. Chandlee, 26, Gilson, cited for failure to wear a seat belt.
10-11 – Bryan A. Proehl, 23, Hillsdale, was ticketed for driving while his license was suspended or revoked.
10-11 – Chance L. Johnson, 20, Neponset, cited for failure to wear a seat belt.
10-11 – Makenzie R. Robertson, 21, Elmwood, cited for speeding 71 mph in a 55 zone and for operating an uninsured vehicle.
10-12 – James B. Cody, 27, Chicago, ticketed for operating a vehicle with an expired registration sticker.
10-12 – A single-vehicle accident occurred on the Modena Blacktop located west of County Highway 24. The driver was a 16-year- old Wyoming teen who left the roadway and hit a power pole.
10-12 – A deer-related vehicle accident occurred on Route 40 and 1600N. Driver involved was Jodie A. Larson, 45, of Sterling. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained estimated damages over $1,500.
10-12 – At 8:45 p.m., Dawn M. Appenheimer, 51, of Toulon was driving westbound on Illinois Route 17 near Illinois Route 180 west of La Fayette when the vehicle struck a deer. Appenheimer was unhurt, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained minor damage. The deer was killed.
10-13 – Richard E. Gunter, 53, Toulon, was arrested by the Toulon Police Department and charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a senior citizen. He was taken into custody and transported to Stark County Jail awaiting a court appearance. Additional charges may be pending.
10-13 – A deer-related vehicle accident occurred on Wallace Highway south of Toulon. Driver was Sarah J. Barnes, 35, of Toulon. No injuries reported, but the vehicle sustained estimated damages over $1,500.

Officer dispatched:

10-9 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 300 block of SW 6th St., Mark Thornton, 45, Toulon, was arrested for no valid driver’s license, not having valid registration and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
10-10 – to assist the Galva Water Department with a standby while they shut the water service off in the 300 block of SW 3rd St.
10-10 – to the 200 block of NE 3rd St. for a wild-animal complaint involving a sick fox. Officer was not able to locate, but live traps were set.
10-10 – to the intersection of SE 1st St. and SE 6th Ave. for a utility wire down in the roadway. Officer determined it was a phone line and moved it onto the terrace. Frontier was contacted for repairs.
10-10 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 500 block of SW 3rd Ave., Narcedalia Fragoso, 28, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
10-10 – William Rogers, 50, Monmouth, was issued a citation for speeding in 1300 block of SE 2nd St.
10-11 – Officer met with subjects at the Galva Police Department to return firearms that were recently collected for safekeeping due to a death.
10-12 – to the 00 block of SW 2nd St. to assist a business with checking on an abandoned vehicle that had been parked at the gas pumps for almost 5 hours.
10-12 – Officer took a theft complaint by telephone for items stolen from the Galva Cemetery.
10-13 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of NW 1st St., Julie Johnson, 50, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for no insurance. She was released with a required court date.
10-13 – to the 600 block of SW 1st Ave. for a property-line dispute.
10-13 – to assist the ambulance crew with a medical call on SW 4th St. The patient was found to have an unserved order of protection. Officer used a “short form” and served them prior to ambulance transport.
10-13 – to the 100 block of SE 2nd St. for a verbal domestic disturbance.
10-13 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 1200 block of SE 2nd St., Gabriel Herrera-Galduno, 31, Mineral, was arrested for driving while license suspended and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver. He was taken to the Henry County Jail.
10-14 – to the 00 block of SW 2nd St. for child-custody dispute.
10-14 – Officer was contacted about a youth sports football team coming through Galva after winning a championship game. They were given a police escort.
10-14 – to the 900 block of SE 2nd St. for a utility complaint involving a washing machine leaking. The owner was contacted for repairs.
10-14 – Shady Bodine, 23, Kewanee, cited for not having valid registration in 1000 block of SE 2nd St.
10-14 – Theresa Carlino, 29, Galva, cited for failure to notify secretary of state of address change in 100 block of NE 2nd St.
10-14 – Randal Engels, 62, Galva, cited for having expired registration in the 100 block of SE 3rd Ave.
10-14 – Lisa Bryl, 62, Galva, cited for having expired driver’s license, operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to yield the right-of-way in the 1000 block of SE 2nd St.

10-15 – Michael Sturtevant, 38, Kewanee, cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for no insurance, operating an uninsured vehicle and having expired registration in the 1200 block of SE 2nd St. He was released with a court date.
10-15 – Sandeep Bajaj, 47, Peoria, cited for speeding in the 300 block of SE 2nd St.
10-15 – to Sentry Estates for a complaint involving two loose pit bulls. Owner took them back into the residence.
