• EDELSTEIN – A Eureka man reported no injuries following a single-vehicle rollover accident near Edelstein.
Shortly after 5:15 p.m. Nov. 27, Nathan J. Arnold was driving a 2006 Jeep Wrangler south in the 21100 block of Illinois Route 40 when the vehicle hit black ice and slid off the roadway into a ditch, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The vehicle rolled onto its passenger side.
Multiple people stopped to help roll the vehicle upright, according to the report. The vehicle had minor scuff marks on its hood and a dented passenger-side A-frame. It also was leaking fluid from under the hood and was towed. Deputies blocked traffic briefly on Route 40 in that area.
• BRIMFIELD – A single-vehicle accident northeast of Brimfield resulted in no injuries to a Bradford man, but his pickup truck was a total loss.
Wyatt L. Bantz was driving a southbound 2001 Chevrolet Silverado about 6 a.m. Nov. 22 on Elliott Road when he braked abruptly for a stop sign at Parks School Road, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The truck skidded, crashed into an embankment and overturned.
Bantz said he had not traveled on Elliott Road before and didn’t realize there was a stop sign at the crest of a hill. What remained of his truck was towed.
• KICKAPOO – No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident west of Kickapoo.
About 11:15 a.m. Nov. 22, Timothy J. Schaub of Edwards was stopped behind the wheel of his 2008 Ford truck on Princeville-Jubilee Road at U.S. Route 150. Schaub backed up to make way for a tractor that was turning from eastbound Route 150 to northbound Princeville-Jubilee Road.
Schaub’s vehicle backed into the front of a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by Dennis J. Murphy of Kewanee, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
Schaub said he didn’t realize Murphy’s vehicle was stopped behind him. The Impala sustained damage to its hood.
• HANNA CITY – A Creve Coeur man avoided serious injury in an all-terrain-vehicle accident on an off-road track north of Hanna City.
Jacob A. Metheny was aboard the 2021 Tracker shortly before 2 p.m. Nov. 18 in the 1000 block of N. Murphy Rd. when the ATV hit a bump. Metheny braked too hard in response and he flew off the ATV, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
Metheny didn’t lose consciousness but had pain in his left shoulder, elbow and hip. An ambulance transported him to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. No broken bones were detected, and no damage to the ATV was visible.
• HANNA CITY – A Kewanee woman required hospital attention and received vehicle-related citations following an accident near Hanna City.
Trisha L. Swearingen, 38, was driving a southbound 2015 Nissan Rogue about 11 p.m. Nov. 14 in the 100 block of S. Taylor Rd. when the vehicle apparently crossed into the opposite lane, left the pavement to the east, struck a cement culvert and flipped, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Swearingen said she was driving from Kewanee to Peoria, made a wrong turn and had difficulty seeing the road because of darkness and glare from her glasses. She complained about head pain and said she blacked out during the accident. The culvert sustained extensive damage.
An ambulance transported Swearingen to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. The vehicle, which came to rest on its top, was towed.
Swearingen was cited for driving with a revoked license and for failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision. She is to appear Dec. 13 in Peoria County Circuit Court.
• DOUGLAS – At midnight Nov. 10, Michael H. Phillips, 77, of Maquon was driving a 2015 Ford F-250 pickup truck in the 2000 block of Knox Highway 17 north of Douglas when the vehicle struck a deer. Phillips was uninjured, per a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was drivable.
• BARTONVILLE – Shortly after 6 p.m. Nov. 9, Tina R. Smith of Hanna City was driving a westbound 2011 Ford in the 9300 block of W. Smithville Rd. west of Bartonville when the vehicle struck a deer that emerged from the north.
Smith was uninjured, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The vehicle, which was towed, was leaking antifreeze and its front bumper was damaged.
• FARMINGTON – Ashley M. Hansard of Farmington was ticketed on Nov. 9 for operating a uninsured vehicle, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s office.
• GALESBURG – These were among calls to which the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded between Nov. 19-25: stray cat, Yates City; trespass, Galva; damage complaint, Williamsfield; abandoned vehicle, Yates City.
• FARMINGTON – The police department here reported the following activity in November: 583 business checks, 2,960 building checks, 2 crashes, 7 property crimes, 31 traffic tickets, 3 ordinance tickets, 4 crimes against people, 68 traffic stops, 9 arrests, 19 assists to other departments, 22 reports and 300 calls.
