Stark County

11-26 – A single-vehicle occurred on Route 40 at the intersection of 1150N located south of Bradford. The driver was Robert J. Forbes, 70, Bradford. The driver reportedly was traveling south on Route 40 when he went off the west shoulder of the road and crashed into the ditch. The vehicle rolled over and landed on its side. No tickets were issued but Forbes was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The vehicle sustained over $1,500 in damages.
11-27 – A northbound vehicle on Illinois Route 78 driven by Samuel Gleichman, 21, lost control and entered the southbound lane at about 2:55 p.m., striking a Stark County school bus, driven by Helen J. Murray. Icy conditions were cited as a cause for the collision. One bus passenger was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
11-27 – An incident report noted a single-vehicle accident on Illinois Route 78 and 650N. A truck reportedly rolled over onto its side. The driver was Jorge L. Barrera, 54, Kewanee. No injuries were reported to the driver or additional passengers, but the vehicle was estimated as a total loss.
11-29 – A single-vehicle rollover accident occurred on Township Road 650E. According to an incident report, the accident was discovered by a passing motorist. Nobody was located with the vehicle at the time it was reported to authorities. The driver was later identified as Christopher D. Turner, 29, of Toulon. No tickets were issued but the vehicle was estimated at a total loss.
12-1 – A single-vehicle accident occurred on 700N and Route 17 east of Wyoming. The driver was Mercedes Strong, 23, of Wyoming. According to the accident report, Strong was traveling southwest when her vehicle crossed over into the opposite lane of traffic and left the roadway before crashing into the ditch. No injuries were reported and no tickets were issued, but the vehicle sustained over $1,500 in estimated damages.
12-5 Andrew J. Eagelston, 18, of Wyoming was arrested about 2:15 p.m. and accused of unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Officer dispatched:

11-27 – to the 1100 block of SE 2nd St. to assist the ambulance with a medical emergency.
11-27 – As a result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of Morgan Rd., Kelly Smithson, 46, Galva, was cited for not having a valid drivers license. She was released with a required court date.
11-28 – to the 100 block of Market St. for a suspicious vehicle complaint after closing hours. Officer determined that a motorist was looking for a gas station. Directions were given.
11-28 – to Route 34 about two miles west of town to investigate a report of heavy smoke in the area. It was a controlled burn.
11-28 – to assist Illinois DCFS with a verbal disturbance in the 400 block of S. Center Ave.
11-28 – Melvin Byler, 18, of Downing, Mo., was issued a citation in the 200 block of SE 7th Ave. for not having valid registration.
11-30 – to the 100 block of S. Center Ave. in reference to a report involving a vehicle that was borrowed with permission but had not been returned for several days. The other party was contacted and the vehicle was returned to Galva.
11-30 – to the 1000 block of SE 2nd St. for a report involving criminal damage to a vehicle.
11-30 – While patrolling, the officer noticed all of the Galva railroad crossing arms were activated with no trains present. Officer directed traffic for about an hour on Exchange Street until a BNSF employee was able to make repairs.
11-30 – to speak with a subject by telephone regarding questions about trespassing laws.
11-30 – to the 400 block of NW 5th St. for a loose and aggressive dog running around. A relative was contacted and was able to get the dog back into the house.
11-30 – to the 800 block of NE 3rd Ave. for a complaint involving a utility wire being pulled away from a residence. Mediacom was notified.
11-30 – to the 100 block of SW 5th St. for a complaint involving harassment through electronic communications involving juveniles.
11-30 – to a residence on NE 3rd Street to check the welfare of a child. DCFS was contacted.
11-30 – the 700 block of NW 5th Ave. to pick up a Freedom of Information Act request form.
12-1 – to assist the ambulance on NW 1st Ave.
12-1 – to a residence on SW 4th St. to locate a subject who had made suicidal comments by text message. The officer made phone contact with the suspect, who was out of the area.
12-1 – to the 00 block of NE 9th St. for a theft complaint.
12-1 – to a residence on NW 8th Ave. for a welfare check. The complainant was encouraged to contact the DCFS hotline.
12-1 – to assist a motorist with a flat tire in the 00 block of SW 2nd St.
12-1 – Rachel Rawlings, 38, of Galva, was issued an administrative warning ticket for accumulation of trash on her property in the 900 block of W. Division St.
12-2 – to the 700 block of NW 5th Ave. to pick up two Freedom of Information Act forms.
12-2 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 1100 block of SE 2nd St., Vannessa Sturm, 38, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
12-2 – to the 700 block of NW 1st Ave for a verbal domestic dispute.
12-2 – to the Galva Police Department to meet a citizen who wanted to turn in FOIA requests.
12-2 – to the 1000 block of SE 2nd St. to remove an unwanted and intoxicated customer. The subject was taken home.
12-2 – Paul Bosnich, 36, Williamsfield, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd St.
12-3 – to the Exchange Street and Market Street railroad tracks for a crossing arm malfunctions. BNSF was contacted for repairs.
