Police reports
• KICKAPOO – Someone from Williamsfield was being sought for violating an order of protection.
The alleged violation took place about 10:15 a.m. July 2 at Freedom Oil, 7200 N. Kickapoo-Edwards Rd. The victim also is from Williamsfield, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The report was heavily redacted, including the names of the suspect, the victim and a witness from Kickapoo.
No arrest was listed on the report, which indicated Knox County authorities issued the order.
• FARMINGTON – A Farmington man was accused of spray-painting sidewalks two times in at least 19 locations in the city.
Stephen C. Schmidgall, 53, was scheduled to appear earlier this week in Fulton County Circuit Court regarding a charge of criminal damage to government-supported property. The accusation stemmed from incidents reported June 11 and June 19, a Farmington Police Department report stated.
City officials found spray-painted sidewalks between the 100 and 800 blocks of E. Fort St., among other places. Both incidents happened in the same locations.
A witness told police she saw two men on motorized scooters spray-painting the sidewalks. On June 21, Schmidgall confessed and said he would not spray-paint sidewalks again, according to the report. The cleaning bill was $650.
• BRIMFIELD – A Brimfield man was arrested for drunken driving after he was found slumped in his vehicle. A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched about 5:30 p.m. June 18 to the 11200 block of N. Maher Rd. south of Brimfield. There the deputy discovered James C. Rhoads, 36, in a 2021 Ford Ranger pickup truck, according to a heavily redacted report. Rhoads was accused of two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol.
• FARMINGTON – An Edwards woman was accused of biting and scratching a Farmington man. The incident for which Kansas L. Rynearson, 18, was arrested happened about 6:45 pm. June 17 at a residence on Gold Street between Fort and Fulton streets.
Accounts differ, but the 20-year-old victim had scratch marks on the left side of his neck and on his right arm. He also had a bite mark on the right side of his chest, a Farmington Police Department report stated.
Rynearson was transported to Graham Hospital in Canton for evaluation, then to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. She was charged with domestic battery.
• BELLEVUE – A Trivoli male and his passenger declined medical treatment following a single-vehicle accident. At 6 a.m. June 15, Josiah T. Good was driving a 2001 Honda sedan east on the Maxwell Road spur and was intending to exit to northbound Interstate 474 when he lost control of the vehicle, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
Good was cited for failure to reduce speed, improper lane use and speeding 26-34 mph over the limit. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed.
• ELMWOOD – An Elmwood man admitted he drove too fast when his vehicle struck one that was parked along a city street.
The crash happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. June 14 in the 600 block of E. Cypress St., according to Peoria County Sheriff’s Office reports. Ethan C. Anderson, 19, was driving an eastbound 2008 Infiniti when it struck a 2007 Jeep Laredo.
Anderson was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for leaving the scene of an accident.
• DAHINDA – A Laura-area woman was accused of attempting to break into the residence of a man identified as her occasional boyfriend. A Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy was summoned about 2:30 p.m. June 14 to the 2000 block of Knox Road 1400 North. There he found Kristen M. Ferris, 40, who said she called a locksmith to gain entry to the residence. The 41-year-old homeowner asked for Ferris to leave, per a sheriff’s-office report.
Ferris was cited for criminal trespass and was given a notice to appear in Knox County Circuit Court in Galesburg.
• BELLEVUE – A Trivoli female reported no injuries from a two-vehicle collision west of Bellevue.
Natilee R. Crum was driving a westbound 2001 Ford Taurus shortly before 4 p.m. June 12 on Illinois Route 116 at Stone Church Road when a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck rear-ended it. Scott L. Trone of Norris was the other driver, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Trone said he didn’t see Crum’s vehicle slow for another that was turning onto Stone Church Road. Trone reported no injuries. His vehicle sustained minor damage and was drivable. Crum’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed.
• HANNA CITY – A Canton woman who drove her vehicle into roadside mailboxes near Hanna City was accused of an illegal-drugs crime. Amy M. Yerbic, 46, was driving a 2024 Nissan Rogue that had extensive damage when a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy found it shortly before 6 a.m. June 12 parked in the 10800 block of Illinois Route 116.
Another report stated Yerbic was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and was cited for driving on a suspended license. She also was wanted in Fulton County for an unspecified offense.
• FARMINGTON – A Farmington man was cited for driving with a suspended license.
Michael A. Rife, 56, was behind the wheel of a 2014 Dodge van when a Farmington police officer stopped it about 3:30 p.m. June 10 at Illinois Route 78 and Park Road. A check revealed Rife’s license had been suspended since March 2023 for driving under the influence, according to a police report.
Rife is to appear Friday (July 12) in Fulton County Circuit Court in Lewistown.
• WILLIAMSFIELD – A Washington-state man was accused of operating a motorcycle illegally south of Williamsfield.
Jesse J. Reynolds, 34, of Yakima admitted to not having a driver’s license when a Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped to assist him about 7:30 p.m. June 7 along Interstate 74 near milepost 62.
Reynolds was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and for driving with a suspended license, and was released. His motorcycle was towed.
• KICKAPOO – No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle crash at a Kickapoo intersection. The accident happened at 8 a.m. May 29 at U.S. Route 150 and Kickapoo-Edwards Road, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. Both vehicles, a 2014 Buick LaCrosse eastbound on Route 150 and a 2015 Hyundai Tucson southbound on Kickapoo-Edwards Road, stopped at the intersection simultaneously.
Both drivers – Tracy E. Fisher of Brimfield (Buick) and Jerrica J. Glispie of Peoria (Hyundai) – said they believed they had the right of way, per the report. Security video from a nearby residence was inconclusive. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed.
• MONICA – Shortly before 4:45 a.m. June 15, Randy R. Bolen of Laura was driving a 2021 Nissan Rogue sport-utility vehicle east on Illinois Route 90 at Daily Road north of Monica when the vehicle struck a deer. Bolen didn’t indicate he was injured, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The SUV sustained front driver’s-side fender damage but was drivable.
• DeLONG – At 9:45 p.m. June 15, Mary E. Saline of Dahinda was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado west on Knox Highway 27 at Knox Highway 8 north of DeLong when the vehicle struck a deer. Saline was uninjured, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was drivable.
• WILLIAMSFIELD – Shortly before 2 a.m. June 7, Austin D. McGrew, 26, of Avon was driving a 2019 Ford Taurus east in the 1400 block of U.S. Route 150 when the vehicle struck a deer. McGrew was uninjured, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle was drivable.
• BELLEVUE – At 6:30 p.m. June 7, Christina M. Walker of Brimfield was driving a 2022 Jeep sport-utility vehicle west on Interstate 474 between Airport and Closen roads when the SUV struck a deer. Neither Walker nor her three passengers were injured, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The vehicle was drivable but suffered minor damage.
