• PRINCEVILLE – A Princeville man was accused of sexually assaulting girls aged 14 and 15, according to authorities.
Jordan W. Gibson, 20, was implicated initially regarding an incident that happened about 4 p.m. Dec. 7 at a residence in the 100 block of W. Spring St. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified. Peoria County Sheriff’s Office reports about the incident were redacted almost entirely.
Gibson is an uncle of one of the victims, according to Sheriff Chris Watkins. Gibson was arrested Dec. 11 and charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail and is to remain there until trial, per the state’s attorney’s office.
• BRIMFIELD – A Kewanee woman was cited following a hit-and-run accident west of Brimfield.
Molly S. Horsley was driving a 2022 Dodge Durango that rear-ended a 2018 Nissan Rogue shortly after 4:30 p.m. Dec. 6 on westbound U.S. Route 150 at Bell School Road, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. Taylor L. Siedel of Abingdon was the other driver.
Siedel said her vehicle was stopped at the intersection when Horsley’s vehicle struck it, then passed it on the left and headed north. A license plate on Horsley’s vehicle fell off in the process. A witness corroborated Siedel’s account and provided the license-plate number.
When a deputy contacted Horsley later, she said she left the scene because she had to get to work. Horsley was accused of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and of leaving the scene of an accident. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
• HANNA CITY – A handgun apparently was stolen from a vehicle in Hanna City, although details about the crime are scarce. The apparent burglary in the 400 block of N. Lakeshore Drive was reported about 7:30 a.m. Dec. 10, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• BRIMFIELD – No injuries were reported as the result of a two-vehicle crash east of Brimfield.
Shortly after 2:15 p.m. Dec. 6, Eric D. Scheffert of Dunlap was driving a 2019 Nissan east on Brimfield-Jubilee Road near Kelstadt Road when the rear of his vehicle clipped the front of a U.S. Postal Service mail truck driven by Denver A. Weedman of Maquon.
Scheffert said he was attempting to pass the mail truck, which he believed was not moving, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The truck’s hazard lights were on, and Weedman said he was driving slowly after making a delivery.
Neither vehicle was towed.
• FARMINGTON – A traffic-assistance stop in Farmington resulted in a local woman being found to have two outstanding arrest warrants.
Kouri L. Fox, 48, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse that was against a guardrail about 9:15 p.m. Dec. 5 on East Pearl Street near North First Avenue, according to a Farmington police report. An officer helped Fox push the vehicle off the roadway. Afterward, a search revealed Fox was wanted in Fulton County regarding a retail-theft charge and in Tazewell County on a contempt-of-court charge. After Fox paid bond and fees, she was given new court dates and released.
• DUNLAP – Old ordnance, some of it perhaps dating to the World War II era, was discovered on a property north of Dunlap.
Law-enforcement authorities were summoned about 1 p.m. Dec. 4 to the 3800 block of W. Hicks Hollow Rd. A heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report listed ammunition, landmines, a grenade, blasting caps and what appeared to be three shoulder-launched rockets.
A Peoria Police Department unit conducted an on-site counterblast to destroy the blasting caps, the hand grenade and a detonating cord. Other items were inert and removed.
• HANNA CITY – A Glasford man whose vehicle was parked on a Hanna City thoroughfare had expired license plates and an invalid driver’s license. About 3:45 p.m. Dec. 3, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed expired plates on a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck parked in the 100 block of S. Pekin Lane. An additional check revealed the revoked license of the driver, 63-year-old Michael E. Learned.
The vehicle was towed. Learned received two citations and a court date, a sheriff’s-office report stated.
• ELMWOOD – A vehicle caught fire after it apparently crashed into fences southeast of Elmwood. A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy found a 2005 Buick sport-utility vehicle aflame shortly after 3 a.m. Dec. 2 at the northeast corner of Graham Chapel and Stone School roads.
Based on skid marks, the SUV appeared to have headed north on Stone School Road before it left the pavement to the east, crossed Graham Chapel Road and struck the fences. Broken and burned fencing was found lying next to the SUV.
The driver was not present. Elmwood firefighters also responded.
• KICKAPOO – A damaged vehicle was found along the side of a road west of Kickapoo, the result of an apparent single-vehicle accident.
A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded shortly before 10 p.m. Dec. 1 to the 11500 block of U.S. Route 150. There the deputy found a Ram 1500 pickup truck in the ditch on the north side of the pavement, its hood facing west. The vehicle was unoccupied.
No driver was listed on the sheriff’s-office report, although a vehicle owner was. The vehicle was towed. Brimfield firefighters also responded.
• KICKAPOO – An Elmwood driver reported no injuries following a single-vehicle crash west of Kickapoo. Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Dec. 1, Corey J. Geeseman was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu west in the 13900 block of W. Schlink Rd. when he swerved to avoid a deer. The vehicle struck a guardrail on the north side of the road, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
• EDWARDS – No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle wreck northeast of Edwards.
At 7 p.m. Nov. 29, Daniel T. Lattimore of Edwards was backing a 2013 IC shuttle bus out of a driveway in the 6400 block of N. Koerner Rd. when it collided with a southbound U.S. Postal Service mail truck. Laura K. Demuth of Williamsfield was the other driver, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
Demuth did not see Lattimore’s vehicle, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. Her vehicle sustained damage to the front driver’s-side bumper and hood. Lattimore’s vehicle sustained minor driver’s-side damage. Both vehicles were drivable.
• BRIMFIELD – A Brimfield-area man was arrested after he apparently used a gun to threaten someone, according to authorities.
The incident that involved 71-year-old Steven L. Hankins happened about 9:45 a.m. Nov. 26 at a residence in the 12000 block of W. Dubois Rd., according to Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Hankins was transported to the Peoria County Jail. He was accused of aggravated assault/use of a deadly weapon and aggravated assault against community-policing volunteers, private-security officers or utility workers. Ameren Illinois and Wright Tree Service of Bartonville were mentioned in the report.
• PEORIA – Shortly before 11 a.m. Dec. 5, Justin A. Donath of Elmwood was driving a westbound 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Illinois Route 8 near Richwoods Boulevard west of Peoria when his vehicle struck a deer. The pickup truck had disabling damage to its front end and was towed.
• MONICA – Shortly after 5:15 p.m. Dec. 2, Cheryl L. Walsh of Princeville was driving a 2008 Chevrolet sedan west on Parks School Road near Savage Road when the vehicle struck a deer. Walsh was able to drive her vehicle.
• EDWARDS – Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Nov. 28, Barbara R. Fechter of Hanna City was driving a southbound 2024 Honda sport-utility vehicle in the 3800 block of N. Taylor Rd. when the SUV struck a deer. The vehicle sustained substantial damage but was drivable.
