• PEORIA – A Farmington man who was in court recently regarding a 2023 drunken-driving charge was intoxicated during that appearance, authorities stated.
Remington R. Isbell, 21, was accused of contempt of court in connection with the incident, which happened about 1:45 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Peoria County Courthouse. A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was told someone in Judge Suzanne Patton’s courtroom might be drunk, according to a report.
A test revealed Isbell’s blood-alcohol level was .205. The legal limit is .08. Isbell said he drank a lot of booze the previous night and finished about 5 a.m., the report stated. After Patton ruled Isbell in contempt, he was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
• LAURA – Following a single-vehicle accident south of Laura, a Brimfield-area woman was accused of drunken driving, among other crimes.
Stacey A. Supan, 42, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 29 in the 16200 block of N. Whittaker Rd., where a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy had been dispatched about two hours earlier. She was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze, according to a heavily redacted sheriff’s-office report.
At first, the deputy was on the way to a domestic-battery case at a nearby residence. Other deputies arrived there and were told a female, later identified as Supan, had left. An ambulance transported someone to Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, but it was unclear from the report if it was Supan.
Eventually, Supan was taken to the Peoria County Jail. She was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle was towed. Supan also was accused Jan. 30 of domestic battery.
• TRIVOLI – A barbecue grill apparently ignited a garage door at a residence south of Trivoli, according to authorities.
The fire happened about 6 p.m. Jan. 26 in the 21300 block of W. Smithville Rd. The garage door had a large hole with burn marks on it, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The grill was a couple of feet from the door. The bottom of the grill rusted out, and charcoal dropped from it to the ground.
In search of hotspots, Logan-Trivoli firefighters ripped out two sections of drywall from the ceiling and tore off siding to the left of the garage door. The drywall ceiling was black from smoke, according to the report. No injuries were reported.
• ST. AUGUSTINE – A Hanna City-area man was accused of driving 32 mph above the speed limit in southwestern Knox County.
Patrick E. Melton, 52, was behind the wheel of an eastbound 2014 Ford clocked at 87 mph in a 55-mph zone about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 25 in the 50 block of Illinois Route 116, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report. Melton told a deputy he thought he was driving 70 mph.
Melton had a valid driver’s license and no outstanding warrants. He was cited for driving more than 25 mph above the speed limit and received a notice to appear in Knox County Circuit Court in Galesburg.
• MAPLETON – A Brimfield-area man was arrested after he threatened a work colleague with a knife, according to authorities.
The incident happened Jan. 21 at the Caterpillar Inc. facility in Mapleton, Peoria County Sheriff’s Office reports stated. Edwinn D. Strong Jr., 18, was taken into custody about 8 a.m. Jan. 30. The heavily redacted reports suggested the victim was from West Peoria.
Strong was transported to the Peoria County Jail and accused of aggravated assault with a non-firearm weapon.
• HANNA CITY – A Bartonville driver required hospital attention following a single-vehicle accident south of Hanna City.
Kyler D. Hill was behind the wheel of a westbound 2008 Chevrolet Malibu at 2:15 a.m. Jan. 20 in the 9400 block of W. Smithville Rd. when he lost control of the vehicle because of fatigue, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
The vehicle rolled off the pavement and landed on its passenger side in a north-side ditch. Hill was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. The vehicle sustained overall damage and was towed.
• HANNA CITY – No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle accident south of Hanna City.
At 8 p.m. Jan. 19, Trayton L. Trueblood of Bartonville was driving a northbound 2007 BMW on Hammerich Road at Riekena Road when he drove through the T-intersection, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The vehicle landed in a ditch against a tree about 20 feet off the road.
Trueblood said he wasn’t aware Hammerich Road ended at Riekena Road and he was driving too fast to stop. The vehicle, which contained a male passenger, sustained a broken front axle and a destroyed front bumper. It was towed.
• YATES CITY – Someone stole the hard drive from a Yates City man’s video-game console, according to authorities.
The hard drive missing from a Microsoft Xbox 360 unit at a residence in the 300 block of W. Fulton St. was reported about 5:45 p.m. Jan. 19, a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The 34-year-old victim said his son attempted to use the Xbox, but it would not operate.
The hard drive was valued at $50. The alleged theft took place between Dec. 16 and Jan. 19.
• KICKAPOO – After two vehicles hit the same deer north of Kickapoo, no major injuries were reported.
Heide R. Herrmann of Princeville was driving a northbound 2015 Nissan Altima about 11:15 p.m. Jan. 17 in the 11700 block of N. Princeville-Jubilee Rd. when her vehicle struck the deer. The impact pushed the animal into the southbound lane, where a 2016 Kia Optima struck it.
A Dunlap boy of unspecified age was the other driver, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. Neither he nor his female passenger requested medical attention. Neither did Herrmann, who sustained a minor cut to one of her hands.
The boy’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to its front driver’s-side wheel well and was towed. Herrmann’s vehicle sustained minor front-end damage but was drivable.
• KICKAPOO – A trucker drove away from a Kickapoo-area gasoline station without paying for about $200 in diesel fuel. The incident happened shortly after noon Jan. 17 at the Shell station at 7116 N. Kickapoo-Edwards Rd. The suspect was driving a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia with Texas license plates, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Following the incident, the truck headed toward nearby Interstate 74.
• HANNA CITY – Todd E. Werneburg, 61, of Hanna City was arrested shortly before 8:45 p.m. Jan. 29 and accused of obstructing justice/destroying evidence and two counts of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office. Werneburg also was being held for another law-enforcement agency.
• LAURA – Serenity M. Lopeman, 20, of Laura was arrested at 2 p.m. Jan. 22 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
