Wallace an all-stater

Brimfield junior Haley Wallace earned a spot on two all-state girls basketball teams so far, as coaches have been busy meeting to select players for various postseason honors.

Wallace was picked for the 10-player second-team Class 1A all-state team by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.

Senior Brinlee Bauman was a third-team IBCA pick, while senior Morissa Martin was a special mention selection.

Wallace was picked for Class 1A honorable mention by the Associated Press, the same recognition voted to Bauman.

In other girls postseason awards, Brimfield dominated the ICAC’s all-conference awards. Wallace and Ella Lune were both unanimous first-team picks, while Elynn Peterson was tabbed for the second team and Sophie Bedell and Ella Cagwin were honorable mention.

Other first-teamers were Hannah Alvey and Hanna Hicks of Illini Bluffs and Mady Harper of Midwest Central. Elmwood had two players on the second team: seniors Paysley Carver and Kate Meyers. Other second-teamers were Peyton Pollman of Illini Bluffs, Gracie Rademacker of Midwest Central and Sloan Miller of North Fulton.

The Lady Trojans also placed Olivia Caldwell on the honorable mention list.

The Prairieland Conference all-league selections were to be made on Wednesday.

ICAC Boys – Brimfield and Elmwood led the way with selections for the ICAC all-league boys basketball awards.

Senior centers Brett Novak of Brimfield and Braden McFall of Elmwood both were first-team selections, along with ROWVA-Williamsfield senior Lorin Peterson, senior Dawson Erxleben of Delavan and North Fulto junior Jacob Schleich. Picked for the second team were Brimfield senior Ashton Johnson and Brimfield sophomore Camden Kasel. Elmwood’s second-team picks were junior Adam Centers and sophomore Andrew Marincic. Delavan sophomoreMacArthur Briggs rounded out the second team.

Finally, ICAC honorable mention went to Elmwood junior Luke Hoffmann, senior Huntet Greenleaf of Hanna City, junior Evan Yaste of North Fulton and junior Sam DeJesus of Delavan.
