• FARMINGTON – Police took two juveniles into custody temporarily following a fight during a high school boys basketball game in Farmington on Jan. 14.
After that incident, one of the suspects threatened the other by posting on social media a photograph of a gun, according to authorities.
Farmington police were notified about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 14 about a fight at the school. Farmington was playing Canton at the time. Farmington School District personnel broke up the fight and the two juveniles were removed from the building, according to a police-department news release.
While off campus, one juvenile threatened the other on Snapchat. The depicted weapon was an airsoft gun that looked like a Glock pistol. The school campus was not locked down because that incident happened elsewhere, according to police.
Farmington police and Fulton County sheriff’s deputies located the juvenile who made the threat. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident, then released to his or her parents with a pending Fulton County accusation of aggravated assault.
The other juvenile’s parents brought him or her to the police department. That suspect has a pending Peoria County accusation of aggravated battery. Both suspects are to have appointments with juvenile-probation departments.
• FARMINGTON – Minor damage was reported following a structure fire in Farmington.
The incident in the 300 block of E. Fulton St. began shortly before 2:45 a.m. Dec. 29, according to the Farmington Community Fire Protection District. Firefighters found smoke emanating from the east side of the building, caused by a fire in a first-floor bathroom.
A smoke alarm alerted the residents, who used a home fire extinguisher before they evacuated. No injuries were reported. The bathroom sustained minimal damage, and minor smoke damage was reported throughout the first floor. The fire cause was being investigated.
• GALESBURG – A Dahinda woman’s blood-alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit following a traffic stop in Galesburg.
Carolyn E. German, 21, was driving a 1999 Buick sedan when Knox County Sheriff Jack Harlan pulled it over shortly before 6:15 p.m. Dec. 24 in the 600 block of U.S. Route 150 East. The vehicle was swerving, according to a sheriff’s-office report.
When asked from where she was coming, German said “Arizona.” German’s BAC was .279; the legal limit is .08. An empty malt-beverage bottle was found in the vehicle.
German was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use. She was transported to OSF Saint Mary Medical Center for medical evaluation. German’s passenger, a 30-year-old man, was released.
• MONICA – At speeds of at least 90 mph, a vehicle fled a traffic stop north of Monica.
A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was driving about 2 p.m. Dec. 22 in the 16000 block of N. Elliott Rd. when he saw a 2023 Subaru sedan stopped in the middle of the pavement, according to a redacted report.
The driver, a 26-year-old Washington man whose name was redacted, was wanted for aggravated fleeing, among other violations. The vehicle was headed toward Princeville following the stop.
• HANNA CITY – Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched shortly before 5:15 p.m. Dec. 19 to Doubet and Taylor roads east of Hanna City regarding a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse in a ditch, according to heavily redacted reports.
Jenna R. North-Alwood, 51, of Hanna City was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle was towed.
• FARMINGTON – No injuries were reported following a garage fire in Farmington.
The blaze began shortly before 9:45 a.m. Dec. 19 in the 400 block of N. Main St., according to the Farmington Community Fire Protection District. Heavy smoke emanated from the one-stall detached garage. It took about 20 minutes to bring the flames under control.
Firefighters remained at the scene until about 11:30 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
• HANNA CITY –A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched at 8 p.m. Dec. 18 to the 12500 block of W. Farmington Rd. regarding a report about a man dressed in black who was trying to open a window.
Brailyn P. Youmans, 25, was arrested about 9:45 p.m. inside the residence. The victim was a 22-year-old Hanna City woman, according to a heavily redacted sheriff’s-office report. Youmans was charged with criminal trespass to a residence and taken to the Peoria County Jail.
• TRIVOLI – No injuries were reported following a three-vehicle, chain-reaction wreck in Trivoli.
Shortly before 6 p.m. Dec. 17, a Hanna City boy was driving an eastbound 2014 Nissan Altima in the 18300 block of Illinois Route 116 when the vehicle rear-ended a 2015 Ford Fusion driven by Cooper Reece of Farmington, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
The Fusion then rear-ended a 2021 Lexus RX 350 driven by William H. Clarke of Peoria, who had slowed for a vehicle stopped to make a left turn. The Altima driver said he looked down for a few seconds before he looked up to see the Fusion had slowed. Those two vehicles were towed.
• YATES CITY – In a social-media post, an East Peoria woman threatened to kill a Yates City woman, according to authorities.
The Facebook post was reported shortly before 7:15 p.m. Dec. 16, a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The 39-year-old victim said she and the 37-year-old suspect went to school together. The victim said she had not seen the suspect in a while and never had a problem with her.
Authorities took no action immediately. The victim submitted a screenshot of the post.
• KICKAPOO – A Brimfield woman avoided injury after ice fell from a semi-trailer truck and shattered the windshield of the vehicle she was driving west of Kickapoo.
Laura E. James was behind the wheel of a westbound 2023 Chevrolet Malibu at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 16 on U.S. Route 150 about one-quarter mile west of Voorhees Road when an eastbound orange-and-white truck passed her and the ice dropped, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
James did not follow the vehicle because of the windshield damage. The Malibu was drivable.
• HANNA CITY – Adama Diakite, 23, of Hanna City was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. Dec. 31 and was being held for another law-enforcement agency, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• TRIVOLI – Darren M. McClister, 60, of Trivoli was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. Dec. 28 and was being held for another law-enforcement agency, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• LEWISTOWN – Jesse A. Herrmann, 25, of Hanna City was arrested Dec. 13 and accused of criminal damage to government-supported property, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
• ELMWOOD – Chief Aaron Bean reported the following Elmwood Police Department activity for December: one traffic stop, four warnings, 20 reports, one notice to appear and one ordinance violation.
• FARMINGTON – Chief Chris Darsham reported the following Farmington Police Department activity for December: 348 business checks, 3,875 building checks, five crashes, one property crime, 13 traffic tickets, five ordinance violations, three crimes against people, 15 miscellaneous reports, 64 traffic stops, nine arrests, 24 reports, 273 calls and 21 calls to assist other police departments.
