• ELMWOOD – An Elmwood woman attempted to bite a police officer during a scuffle that resulted from a domestic dispute, according to authorities.
Logan A. Kelly, 27, was arrested and accused of multiple crimes following the incident. It happened about 7:30 p.m. Dec. 26 in the 200 block of N. Holly St., according to an Elmwood Police Department report.
A 40-year-old man at that address said Kelly had been disruptive. She then argued and fought with public-safety representatives. In addition to the attempted bite, Kelly also kicked a Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy in the chest, a police report stated.
Once transported to the Peoria County Jail, Kelly head-butted a window frame. She then was taken to Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, where city police were summoned because of her behavior.
Kelly was charged with battery, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, domestic battery, criminal damage to property less than $500 and two counts of aggravated battery. She was admitted to the hospital.
• LAURA – An Elmwood woman required hospital attention following a single-vehicle wreck southwest of Laura.
Marilyn D. Stewart was driving a southbound 2020 GMC Acadia sport-utility vehicle shortly after 5:45 p.m. Jan. 11 on French Grove Cemetery Road when at Moore Road she missed a turn, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The vehicle left the pavement and struck a yield sign and a fence post.
BYE Ambulance Service transported Stewart to Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria after she complained of chest pain. The vehicle sustained major damage and was towed. Brimfield firefighters also responded.
• HANNA CITY – A Farmington man was arrested for drunken driving southwest of Hanna City.
At about 11:45 p.m. Jan. 9, a Peoria County Sheriffs Office deputy was summoned to a property in the 6100 block of S. Willms Rd. after someone complained about a truck and trailer that were not supposed to be there. A redacted sheriff’s-office report identified the truck as a GMC Sierra pickup.
Matthew J. Oatman, 50, was accused of two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and transported to the Peoria County Jail.
• YATES CITY – An Elmwood man served an order of protection also was wanted in Peoria County.
A Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched about 3:45 p.m. Jan. 8 to a residence in the 200 block of N. Kellogg St. in Yates City, where he found 31-year-old William B. Bean. The deputy was advised Bean had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on an unspecified charge.
Bean was arrested and transported to the Knox County Jail in Galesburg, per a sheriff’s-office report. He was transferred the following day to Peoria County custody.
• PRINCEVILLE – It wasn’t clear what caused a pickup truck to catch fire outside a residence south of Princeville.
The blaze began about 2 a.m. Jan. 8 in the 13200 block of N. Princeville-Jubilee Rd., a Peoria County Sheriffs Office report stated. A 2008 Ford F-250 was engulfed in flames by the time a deputy arrived. The owner, a 64-year-old man, said the truck was in good working order.
A nearby yellow snowplow also sustained fire damage, as did a utility pole about 4 feet from the truck. A higher-than-normal number of wires protruded from the pole, with a higher-than-normal number of electrical connections. The deputy couldn’t determine if the wires caused the fire.
• PRINCEVILLE – For at least the fourth time in recent months, a Princeville man was arrested regarding a domestic dispute.
A Peoria County Sheriffs Office deputy was called shortly before 10:30 p.m. Jan. 6 to a residence in the 300 block of E. Evans St. regarding a man following a female out of the house, according to a redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Jesse L. Rosas, 38, was accused of unlawful restraint, domestic battery and assault and was transported to the Peoria County Jail. The victim was a 37-year-old Princeville woman.
• BRIMFIELD – Aluminum wire was reported stolen from a solar-energy construction site south of Brimfield.
The theft in the 18900 block of W. Shissler Rd. was reported shortly after 11:15 a.m. Jan. 6, according to a redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. It wasn’t clear when the theft might have happened.
A New Jersey firm, Sante Group, is the contractor. It specializes in solar projects. No suspect information was available, nor a dollar figure regarding the missing property.
• ELMORE – A Galva woman was uninjured following a single-vehicle accident northeast of Elmore.
Shortly after 6:15 p.m. Jan. 2, Caleste M. Battin was driving a 2011 Ford Focus south in the 23000 block of N. Spoon River Rd. when a tire issue was causing the vehicle to leave the pavement. Battin was able to stop the vehicle, according to a Peoria County Sheriffs Office report.
No injuries were noted. The vehicle was towed.
• PRINCEVILLE – A chainsaw, among other possible items, was reported stolen from a property north of Princeville.
The apparent burglary in the 10800 block of W. County Line Rd. took place sometime before about 11:45 a.m. Dec. 30, according to a Peoria County Sheriffs Office report that was redacted almost entirely, including the name of a potential suspect.
No value was listed for the chainsaw or other potential stolen items.
• OAK RUN – Shortly before 6:30 p.m. Jan. 9, a 17-year-old Williamsfield girl was driving an eastbound 2015 Chevrolet Equinox sport-utility vehicle in the 1300 block of U.S. Route 150 East southwest of Oak Run when the vehicle struck a deer. A Knox County Sheriff’s Office report did not specify if the driver was injured. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was to be towed.
• BRIMFIELD – Shortly before 5:15 p.m. Jan. 9, Virgen Hernandez of Peoria was driving a 2022 Buick Enclave sport-utility vehicle west in the 15700 block of W. Parks School Rd. northeast of Brimfield when the vehicle struck a deer. Hernandez and his passenger, a male, denied medical treatment, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained disabling driver’s-side damage and was towed.
• BRIMFIELD – At 7:45 p.m. Jan. 5, Robert J. Dwyer of Edwards was driving an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet Equinox sport-utility vehicle on U.S. Route 150 southeast of Brimfield when at Fox Creek Drive it struck a deer. Dwyer wasn’t injured, according to a Peoria County Sheriffs Office report. The vehicle was towed.
• YATES CITY – Chief James Record reported the following Yates City Police Department activity for December: five reports, one traffic stop and one warning.
• HANNA CITY – Randy C. Cusack, 58, of Hanna City was arrested shortly after 8:45 a.m. Jan. 7 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• GALESBURG – These were among calls to which the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded between Jan. 11-17: suspicious incident, Elmwood; harassment, Yates City; two alarms, Dahinda; burglary, Yates City.
