Incidents & Accidents
8-31 – A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Jackson and Timber streets in LaFayette. The drivers involved were Chelsea L. Hunt, 19, LaFayette and Thomas R. Stoecker Jr., 27, of Wyoming. According to the accident report Stoecker was traveling east on Jackson Street and Hunt was southbound on Timber Street. Hunt reportedly failed to yield at the intersection and struck the rear driver’s side and rear axle of Stoecker’s trailer. No injuries were reported or citations issued.
9-4 – A theft and possible break-in was reported from a rural farm property located in the area of the Knox/Stark County line. Stolen was a 15-pound cylinder grill drum and a pole saw from a rural farm. The incident remains under investigation.
9-5 – An employee from the Wyoming Veterinary service in Wyoming reported criminal damage to property. Evidence was found where an unknown individual spun a vehicle in the parking lot and sprayed gravel on the building. A window was also discovered broken.
9-7 – William D. Ware, 29, Champaign, was arrested for armed violence and cited for speeding 81 mph in a 55 zone, driving an uninsured vehicle, and illegal transportation of cannabis in a vehicle. He was taken into custody and transported to Stark County Jail. He posted $250 bond and was released with a court date.
9-9 – An incident involving possible criminal damage to property was reported from a rural Wyoming residence on the Modena Blacktop.

9-4 – to assist Galesburg Police Department with a child custody dispute in the 300 block of NW 3rd Ave.
9-4 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2nd St., Rhonda Blakey, 53, LaFayette, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration is suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a court date.
9-4 – After a traffic stop in the 200 block of SE 3rd Ave., Yahil Gonzalez-Tirado,18, Kewanee was arrested for possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle. He was released with a court date.
9-5 – to the 100 block of NE 1st St. for a loose dog that chased a subject and was barking and growling. The owner was spoken to and advised the dog got out by mistake.
9-5 – to the 00 block of Wallace St. for a theft complaint. Stolen items were recovered by the Kewanee Police Department during a search warrant. Charges pending.
9-5 – to the 200 block of NE 6th St. for a wild animal complaint involving an ill red fox. The fox displayed a fear of humans and ran away.
9-5 – Jesse Cantu, 29, Galesburg, turned himself in at the Galva Police Department on several Knox County warrants for criminal damage to property, driving while license suspended and aggravated domestic battery. He posted bond and was released with a court date.
9-5 – Ian Davis, 27, Galva, was cited for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd St.
9-6 – Officer spoke to a resident in the 1000 block of NW 7th Ave. about an overweight vehicle parked on the roadway. It was moved to the municipal truck parking lot.
9-6 – to the 300 block of SW 6th Ave. for a city ordinance violation involving junk (furniture) being stored within public view.
9-6 – After a traffic stop in the 400 block of NW 1st Ave, Brian Ince, 49, Kewanee, was arrested for driving while license suspended. He was released with a court date.
9-6 – to the 300 block of SW 3rd St. to check on a subject screaming late at night. The subject appeared to be having a mental health crisis.
9-7 – After a traffic stop in the 700 block of W. Division St., Timothy Fletcher, 44, Galva was arrested for driving while license suspended. He was released with a court date.
9-7 – to the 100 block of Exchange St. for a disturbance complaint. It turned out to be a complaint involving a suicidal juvenile being restrained by a friend. A juvenile was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
9-7 – to assist Stark County with a traffic stop near Black Hawk College involving a subject who had a gun.
9-8 – to Wiley Park to deal with two juveniles fighting.
9-9 – to the 200 block of SE 2nd St. for a wild animal complaint involving a red fox being witnessed killing a squirrel. This is part of nature.
9-9 – along with the fire department, to the area of SW 3rd St. and SW 3rd Ave. for an odor of natural gas. Two gas leaks were located.
9-9 – Amanda Criner, 43, Washington, was cited for speeding in the 1200 block of SE 2nd St.
9-9 – Dawn Steele, 55, Monmouth, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd St.
9-9 – Michael Kelso, 63, Oneida, was cited for following too closely in the 1000 block of SE 2nd St.
9-9 – Lori Lynch, 46, Maquon, was cited for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd St.
9-10 – to the 1000 block of SE 2nd St. to check the welfare of an elderly subject walking and carrying a dog. The subject was attempting to get to Kewanee. He was given a ride.
9-10 – to a residence on NW 4th Ave. to check the welfare of a subject sending suicidal text messages.
9-10 – to the 500 block of East Division St. for a report of several juveniles breaking into the residence. This case is pending.
9-10 – to the 100 block of SE 3rd St. for a city ordinance violation.
