Farmington raises meal prices

FARMINGTON – The Farmington School Board approved an amended budget and other items for the 2022-23 school year.

Among those were increasing meal prices: $2.75 for Pre-K to Grade 8 lunch; $2.95 for high school lunch; 35 cents for milk; $1.90 for breakfast.

The board also approved Inter-State Studios as district photographer, a Physical Restraint and Isolation Reduction Plan, Mobex Laboratory for on-site testing and Heart Technologies for technology services.

Bid requirements were waived to hire Helm Mechnical to install a new indoor airflow unit.

The motion for a $5,000 donation to Light Up Yates City for lights at Harvest Home Park failed, 2-4.

In personnel, the board highred Byron Sondgeroth as high school Spanish teacher; Judd Anderson as high school cross country coach; Dylan Hayden as an assistant football coach; and Jenna Martin, Maria O’Brian and Patricia Wright as cafe workers.

The board renewed contracts with Lakin Slack as director of food services, Toby Vallas as director of student services and Chris Uptmore as junior high principal.

Finally, the board acknowledged the following resignations: Bethany Freese-Herink as music teacher, Nick Hoffmann as varsity assistant football coach, Rebecca Marvel as junior high track coach and Amanda Collins as an elementary school teacher.

The board plans to seat a new student board member at its July meeting.
Principal Dennis McMillin also gave an update on high school Algebra/Manufacturing and Geometry/ Construction classes and discussed emergency evacuation plans.
