Health clinic to open soon in Toulon

TOULON – After going two years without a health clinic of its own, Stark County is expected to again have a multiservice clinic by late fall.
Stark County has been without a medical clinic since the 2021 closing of Aunt Martha’s Health Center, which had operated in Toulon since 2008.

A partnership between The State Bank of Toulon, the Stark County Health Department, First Choice Healthcare and Onero Rx, Inc.-Local Health, Inc. will bring the new clinic to Stark County for available local healthcare. The new clinic will be located in the former location of Aunt Martha’s at 120 E. Court St. in Toulon.

The new health clinic will offer health, primary care, mental health care, tele-psychiatry, WIC (Women, Infants and Children food supplemental program) and pharmacy services. No dental health will be offered.

Stark County resident Amanda Rediger will be a nurse practitioner at the clinic.

The tele-pharmacy will have a certified pharmacy technician onsite who will virtually contact a registered pharmacist to verify and approve prescriptions that can be filled onsite in Toulon. According to Duane Stevens, health department administrator, the pharmacy will accept prescriptions from surrounding medical offices.

“The days and hours of the new clinic will (tentatively) be Monday through Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.” said Raeann Tucker of the Henry-Stark Health Department.

Name of the new clinic is uncertain, but could be “First Choice Healthcare.”

“We built and opened the medical facility for Stark County in 1994 to provide medical services for our communities,” said Doug Parrott, president and CEO of the State Bank of Toulon. “We entertained many offers to rent office space since Aunt Martha’s left in January 2021, but we felt strongly that Stark County deserved, and very much needed, medical care. We are very excited to partner with our local health department to provide those services and to bring in a pharmacy included in the facility is a bonus.”
