• PRINCEVILLE – An additional misdemeanor-battery charge has been filed against a Princeville art teacher accused of touching students inappropriately.
Anthony R. Johnson, 46, of Mackinaw was accused of lifting a female and placing her in a garbage can in May at Princeville Junior-Senior High School, according to a Peoria County Circuit Court document filed Oct. 4.
Johnson appeared in court that day in Peoria regarding the other three charges. He was booked Aug. 25 into the Peoria County Jail and was released the following day.”
Of the other battery accusations, two were alleged to have happened in May. Johnson was accused of rubbing one female’s hand and another female’s back, court documents stated. Johnson also was accused of touching a female’s leg sometime between last Dec. 1 and Jan. 31.
Johnson, who was hired at Princeville in 2003, was placed on paid administrative leave from school. In June, the Princeville School Board reprimanded him for an unspecified issue and was told it cannot happen again. Johnson is to appear in court again Nov. 8.
• FARMINGTON – A 20-year-old Farmington man was accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl, according to authorities.
Brandon M. Gilstrap was arrested Sept. 29 and transported to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. He was charged with stalking, predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and sexual exploitation of a child.
Charges stem from a relationship that began in mid-August, according to Farmington police reports.
The girl and her mother told Gilstrap multiple times not to visit their house but he persisted, the reports stated. The girl said Gilstrap initially told her he was 13.
• KICKAPOO – A Peoria man said another driver hit his vehicle near Kickapoo, then threatened to call the police about him.
The incident happened about 2:30 p.m. Sept. 28 on Interstate 74 near Kickapoo-Edwards Road.
According to Peoria County Sheriff’s Office reports, the 61-year-old victim was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on the interstate when the other vehicle hit his. The other vehicle did not stop and exited at Kickapoo-Edwards Road.
The victim followed the other vehicle north through Kickapoo, then west on U.S Route 150 and north on Princeville-Jubilee Road. There, the suspect made a U-turn, yelled at the victim about calling the police, then sped away in an unknown direction.
Neither the victim nor his passenger was able to describe the other vehicle, other than it being a purple-blue sedan. The other driver was a 30-40-year-old white male. No other suspect information was available. No injuries were reported.
• FARMINGTON – A rural-Farmington man was cited for various vehicle violations following a traffic stop. Ronald G. Godfrey, 48, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado when a Farmington police officer stopped him shortly before 4:30 a.m. Sept. 26 on northbound Main Street near Fort Street. The vehicle’s driver’s-side headlight was out, a police report stated.
Further investigation revealed the vehicle’s registration was suspended. Godfrey was accused of improper lighting and of operating a vehicle with suspended, canceled or revoked registration. He received a notice to appear Nov. 3 in Fulton County Circuit Court in Lewistown.
• KICKAPOO – A semi-trailer truck struck and damaged a gasoline pump at a Kickapoo-area service station. The accident happened about 8:15 a.m. Sept. 21 at Freedom Oil, 7200 N. Kickapoo-Edwards Rd., according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Richmond L. Barrow of Baton Rouge, La., said he had finished using a diesel pump on the north side of the business, but the back of his trailer hit the pump as he was leaving. A concrete barricade was damaged and so was the pump; its handle was ripped from the machine. Barrow reported no injuries.
• PRINCEVILLE – No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident in downtown Princeville.
At 8 a.m. Sept. 20, Grace A. Herrmann was driving a 2011 Honda Accord eastbound on Spring Street when it rear-ended a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck that was stopped at Santa Fe Avenue. The other driver was Willim D. Clark of Princeville, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Herrmann’s vehicle was drivable, but its front end and bumper were damaged significantly. There was minor damage to the trailer hitch on Clark’s vehicle, which included one male passenger. No citations were issued.
• TRIVOLI – A Canton man’s vehicle flipped after it veered off a road south of Trivoli, but the driver refused medical treatment.
John F. Lemon was driving a 1995 Ford pickup truck about 10:45 a.m. Sept. 15 on eastbound Pleasant Grove Road near Texas Road when he lost control of the vehicle, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle careened into a north-side ditch, then flipped onto its roof.
Lemon said he believed a ball joint broke on the vehicle, which was shaking violently. The vehicle was towed.
• FARMINGTON – Kara L. Malott, 43, of Farmington was arrested about 6:15 p.m. Sept. 24 in a trailer in the 100 block of W. Pearl St. on an unspecified Tazewell County warrant, according to a Farmington police report. The trailer was supposed to be unoccupied. Malott was barred from the trailer park and transported to the Fulton County Jail.
• HANNA CITY – Shortly after 6:30 a.m. Sept. 20, Julie G. Bowles of Trivoli was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Traverse east in the 13000 block of W. Cottonwood Rd. when the vehicle struck a deer that emerged from the south. Bowles was uninjured, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. Her vehicle sustained front-end damage but was drivable.
• DUNLAP – About 2 a.m. Sept. 16, Trista J. Frazelle of Princeville was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala south in the 16900 block of Illinois Route 91 north of Dunlap when the vehicle struck a deer. Frazelle refused medical attention and drove away her vehicle, which had front-end damage, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. A deputy dispatched the deer, which was unable to walk.
• PRINCEVILLE – Joseph D. Juarez, 41, of Princeville was arrested about 2:15 a.m. Oct. 4 and accused of failure to appear in court and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• BRIMFIELD – Ryan L. Jackson, 21, of Brimfield was arrested about 10:15 a.m. Oct. 4 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• EDWARDS – Rashad L. Kattom, 35, of Edwards was arrested shortly before 12:15 a.m. Oct. 3 and accused of aggravated battery and mob action, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• PRINCEVILLE – Ronald Lee Potter Jr., 37, of Princeville was arrested shortly before 7:30 p.m. Oct. 2 and accused of aggravated robbery/indicate armed with firearm, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• FARMINGTON – Tammi J. Owens of Farmington was cited for operating an uninsured vehicle on Oct. 4 according to a Fulton County Sheriff’s Office report.
• GALESBURG – These were among calls to which the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded between Sept. 24-30: stray dog, Yates City; two fire alarms, Oak Run; suspicious person, Yates City; harassment, Williamsfield; disturbance, Yates City; suspicious vehicle, Yates City; ATV complaint, Dahinda; trespass, Yates City; burglar alarm, Williamsfield.
