Police reports

• PRINCEVILLE – A Princeville man was arrested twice in as many days following disturbances at a local business.

Siddharthsinh B. Jadeja, 36, was jailed following both incidents, which took place at the BP gasoline station at 614 E. Main St., according to heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office reports. One incident happened about 12:30 p.m. May 3, the other about 6:45 p.m. May 4.

A non-arrest gas-station incident that apparently involved Jadeja happened shortly after 7:15 p.m. May 2. A woman indicated she was having problems with her husband. In all, Jadeja was charged with harassment through electronic communications and twice with criminal trespass to property.

• OAK RUN – A fire appeared to render an Oak Run residence a total loss. The blaze began not long before 1:30 a.m. May 7 at 109 Birch Court, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report. The residence was engulfed in flames by the time a deputy arrived. Nobody was reported inside the residence; the owners were in Florida at the time.

According to a neighbor, the residence was undergoing a complete renovation, but she did not know the contractor. The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal was to investigate, according to Williamsfield fire officials. No dollar estimate was available regarding damage.

• PEORIA – An Elmwood-area man was accused of defrauding multiple people, including one who paid him more than $3,600 to install a new furnace.

Christopher N. Sloan, 49, was arrested about 1 p.m. May 6 in the 6500 block of Illinois Route 8. A Peoria police officer stopped a Toyota Camry that Sloan was driving. Police spotted the vehicle on a security camera. They had been investigating Sloan since at least March, according to reports.

Sloan admitted he took from the female victim half the payment for a furnace and deposited it into his bank account. Instead of performing the work, he used the money for living expenses. He said he wasn’t working much due to mental-health issues.

An officer transported Sloan to the Peoria County Jail.

• ELMWOOD – A wallet that contained credit cards, identification and about $30 in cash was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at an Elmwood residence.

The incident was reported about 6 p.m. May 5 in the 200 block of E. Maple St., according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The female victim said the vehicle, a 2015 Nissan Rogue, was unlocked. She did not have security cameras at her residence.

• YATES CITY – A dog apparently exited a Yates City residence through an open door and bit two children who were walking down the street, according to authorities.

The incident happened sometime before 8 p.m. May 4 in the 300 block of N. Union St., a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The dog bit a 4-year-old girl on one of her arms. The animal also bit an 8-year-old girl on the left side of her body.

According to the 4-year-old’s grandmother, a woman provided bandages to both children and the dog’s owner then secured the animal inside the residence. The grandmother couldn’t identify the breed of the black-brown-white dog. The 8-year-old’s mother said this incident was not the first at this location.

The sheriff’s-office animal-control division was notified. Another dog-bite victim, a male, reported an injury to his lower extremities shortly before 3 p.m. May 2 in the 200 block of E. James St. He wasn’t sure from where the dog came. It wasn’t clear if the two incidents were related.

• HANNA CITY – A vehicle apparently was destroyed when it caught fire at a residence north of Hanna City.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. May 4, the driver of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler thought he smelled radiator fluid, so he anticipated one of its hoses was broken. When he returned home, he noticed an unidentified liquid dripping on his feet and melting part of his shoe, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
He tried to extinguish the fire, to no avail. By the time a deputy arrived, the vehicle was engulfed in flames and emitting thick, black smoke. Logan-Trivoli firefighters responded.

• EDWARDS – An Edwards woman was the victim of an apparent check forgery.

The incident was reported shortly after 4:45 p.m. May 3 in the 9900 block of W. Indian Ridge Court. According to a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report, the incident happened April 20. A suspect’s name was among the redactions.

• CHILLICOTHE – A Farmington woman had a blood-alcohol content more than double the legal limit following a traffic-related incident in Chillicothe.

A Chillicothe police officer found a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze abandoned in the middle of the road about 1 a.m. May 3 in 1300 block of W. Truitt Ave. The front of the vehicle was damaged significantly. Charity B. Tiller, 48, was discovered lying in a tree line about 10 feet away, according to a police report.

Once on her feet, Tiller said she was driving to see relatives but didn’t know what town she was in. Her BAC was .175. The legal limit is .08.

In addition to driving on a revoked license, Tiller was accused of two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to the Peoria County Jail.

• HANNA CITY – Shortly before 9:45 p.m. May 6, Timothy E. Martin of Peoria was driving a westbound 2019 Mazda CX5 in the 11200 block of W. Smithville Rd. south of Hanna City when the vehicle struck a deer. Martin and his passenger, a female, were uninjured, per a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle was damaged but drivable.

• EDWARDS – Shortly before 10:30 p.m. May 3, Chinedu Ugorji of Peoria was driving a southbound 2010 Toyota Camry in the 5000 block of N. Heinz Lane east of Edwards when the vehicle struck a deer. Ugorji said he was uninjured, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle was damaged but drivable.

• KICKAPOO – At 7:15 a.m. April 30, Shannon L. Tyler of Brimfield was driving an eastbound 2020 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck on Brimfield-Jubilee Road near Princeville-Jubilee Road north of Kickapoo when the vehicle struck a deer. Tyler wasn’t injured, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The truck was damaged but drivable.
