• EDWARDS – A suspect in a multi-county police pursuit was found west of Edwards in his stopped vehicle, with an apparent self-inflicted fatal gunshot wound.
The vehicle was located about 7 p.m. Sunday on Kramm Road north of Illinois Route 8, according to the Illinois State Police. The vehicle was wanted in connection with a shooting in Springfield. Authorities had stopped the vehicle, but it pulled away, and a chase ensued. State Police did not reveal where the vehicle first was stopped.
Stark County authorities were among the pursuers. The State Police divulged no other details, including the identity of the suspect and the type of vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, it appeared.
• FARMINGTON – A Hanna City teenager was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, among other crimes, in Farmington.
The 17-year-old boy was driving an eastbound 2015 Jeep Renegade that was drifting in and out of its lane shortly after 5 a.m. May 29 on Fort Street between Elmwood Road and Short Street, according to a Farmington police report.
An officer pulled over the vehicle in the 800 block of E. Fort St. The driver was slow to speak, confrontational and had bloodshot, glassy eyes. His blood-alcohol content was measured at .162. The legal limit is .08. An officer transported the suspect to Graham Hospital in Canton, where his mother refused to give consent for him to submit blood and urine samples.
In addition to DUI, the boy was accused of unauthorized possession of alcohol, unauthorized possession of a controlled substance and resisting or obstructing a peace officer. He was released to his parents and received a notice to appear July 10 in Fulton County Circuit Court in Lewistown.
• YATES CITY – An Elmwood-area man accused of violating an order of protection also was wanted for driving under the influence of alcohol.
William B. Bean, 31, was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. May 31 outside a residence in the 200 block of N. Kellogg St., according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report. Bean said he was aware he was not supposed to be at that residence but was escaping bed bugs at his current residence.
A check revealed the outstanding Peoria County warrant. Bean was transported to the Knox County Jail in Galesburg.
• PEORIA – An Edwards man required a hospital visit following a single-vehicle crash north of Peoria.
Shortly before 5:15 p.m. May 31, Steven L. Holmes was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck headed north in the 9800 block of N. Radnor Rd when he lost control of the vehicle while attempting to pass a bicycle, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
The pickup truck crossed the pavement into the west-side ditch, then rolled multiple times into a cornfield. Holmes complained about a slight headache and was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. The vehicle sustained damage and was towed. A dog that was in the truck was injured.
• BRIMFIELD – A Brimfield man was arrested for violating an order of protection. The incident happened about 8 a.m. May 31 at a residence in the 300 block of E. Knoxville St., according to a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. Sean T. McDonough, 41, was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
A male from Brimfield was the apparent victim.
• TRIVOLI – A vehicle fire south of Trivoli resulted in no apparent injuries. The incident in the 22100 block of W. Wasson Rd. was reported shortly before 2 p.m. May 30. The driver said he pulled his 2010 Ford Focus into his driveway after he had been fishing. He saw smoke and retrieved a fire extinguisher, but the fire was too big for him to handle.
No damage estimate to the vehicle was available. Logan-Trivoli firefighters responded.
• PEORIA – A Trivoli man was arrested for multiple offenses, including possession of a controlled substance, following a traffic stop in Peoria.
Joseph W. Sieg, 41, was driving a southbound 1980 Chevrolet Camaro that appeared to be exceeding the 30-mph limit shortly before 3:45 a.m. May 30 in the 200 block of S. Western Ave., according to a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Sieg was transported to the Peoria County Jail. He also was accused of improper turn-signal use, improper lane use, expired vehicle registration and illegal transportation of alcohol.
• HANNA CITY – A Hanna City man said a woman threw a drink at him during a confrontation at a local bar, but no arrests were made.
The incident at Refuel, 12910 W. Farmington Rd., was reported shortly before 10:45 p.m. May 29. The man said he wished the woman a happy birthday. An argument ensued, she threw the drink at him and left, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
• NORWOOD – No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle crash in Norwood that involved a Farmington woman.
Hannah M. Stenger was driving an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet Volt shortly after 2:30 p.m. May 28 on Farmington Road near Tower Road when the vehicle rear-ended a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Patrick J. McIntyre of East Peoria was the other driver. He had slowed to make a right turn, but Stenger said she didn’t see it.
• EDWARDS – A truck struck a utility pole east of Edwards, knocked it down and a small brush fire ensued, according to authorities.
The accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. May 27 at Illinois Route 8 and Mount Carmel Way, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The fire was brought under control by 10:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported. Ameren Illinois was among agencies that responded.
