BRIMFIELD – Brimfield’s school board acted on several items at its Nov. 11 meeting. The board approved 10 policies, ranging from grievance procedures to prohibitions of student harassment.
Approved was the purchase of technology through an IDEA grant in the amount of $64,504.
Also approved was an insurance proposal for the school district from Unland insurance for a total of $95,199, up from $82,474 last year.
Approved was a lawn mowing bid from Steve Cramer – Pain in the Grass lawn service for $18,000, which includes all grounds at the Brimfield School District.
A Memorial Wall stone has been completed by Wyoming Monument and is to be shipped to the school district in the near future.
Brimfield School District Superintendent Tony Shinall reported that the school board will be voting to approve the tax levy for the next fiscal year in December. Shinall said Brimfield’s equalized assessed value has increased approximately 3.9 percent from $117 million to $121.9 million.
Shinall also reported that the State Board of Education has approved a Health/Life Safety Amendment for the grade school bleacher project.
Brimfield High School Principal Billy Robison reported that SAT results have been distributed to seniors who took the exam and that Jeremy Ott was named student of the month for October.
Grade School Principal Julie Albritton said the Veterans’ Day program was held virtually due to COVID-19; Smart Boards could be delivered by Dec. 7; 53 new Chromebooks are expected to be received by mid-December; and extracurricular activities have been affected by COVID-19.
