Henry Co. Health Dept. has new home

KEWANEE – The Henry County Health Department will be moving to its new office location this week and will be closed April 2-3.

Starting Monday, April 6, at 7:30 a.m. the Health Department will be moved into its new home in the former Save-A-Lot building at 110 N. Burr Blvd. Kewanee.

Duane Stevens, Health Department Administrator notes, “April 6-12 is National Public Health Week. We are thrilled to celebrate this important health observance in our new offices and by announcing the rebranding of our clinic locations as ‘First Choice Healthcare.’ Our entire staff is excited about this move, and are looking forward to being able to better serve the residents of this area in a more centralized, accessible and customer friendly location.”

The Health Department has a staff of 40 full-time employees who serve 60,000 area residents.

Sandy Sommer, RN Director of Clinical Services with the Henry and Stark County Health Department said, “With the new First Choice Healthcare brand will also come an increase in services available through our clinics including the expansion of our current Kewanee location ‘Walk-In’ Clinic Services, Mental Health, and Community Health Programs. For the first time, Henry and Stark County residents will be able to access integrated primary medical and behavioral health services in one health care home.”
