Incidents & Accidents
1-29-20 – A single-vehicle accident occurred on Route 78 approximately an eighth of a mile north of 200 N. The driver involved was Tyanda N. Thomas, 26, of Kewanee, who was traveling south when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy road conditions. The vehicle crossed both lanes of traffic and left the roadway before coming to a rest in the ditch. No injuries were reported and no tickets were issued.
1-29-20 – A single-vehicle accident occurred on Route 78 approximately one half mile north of 400 N. The driver involved was identified as Judy L. Nelson, 60, of Annawan. Nelson was traveling south when she lost control of her vehicle due to ice. The vehicle slid off on the west side of the road where it struck a mailbox before hitting a utility pole that was also damaged and broken. No injuries were reported and no tickets were issued.
1-29-20 – A deer-related vehicle accident occurred on 1200E approximately one half mile north of 1100N. The driver involved was identified as Teresa M. Acton, 59, Bradford. No injuries were reported but the vehicle sustained over $1,500 in estimated damages.
2-1-20 – Justin L. Pratt, 37, Sullivan, was arrested for illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver, driving without vehicle insurance, driving under the influence and driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content over .08. He was taken into custody and transported to the Stark County Jail.
2-2-20 – A harassment complaint was reported from a LaFayette resident in the 400 block of Hodgson Street.
1-28-20 – Vanessa L. Mannon, 48, Bradford, reported criminal damage to property following an incident where her parked vehicle had been egged.
1-27-20 – Galva police dispatched to the 200 block of NE 5th St. for a complaint involving criminal damage to a vehicle.
1-27-20 – Galva police, along with Stark County medic, were dispatched to a residence on NE 1st St. for a medical call for a subject not breathing. The Henry Co. coroner was notified.
1-28-20 – Galva police dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4th St. for a civil issue involving a vehicle purchase.
1-28-20 – Galva police spoke to a citizen by telephone about a dog that ran away 2 1/2 years ago.
1-28-20 – Galva police dispatched to the 400 block of North Center Ave. for a complaint involving a stray cat causing damage to a parked vehicle.
1-28-20 – Galva police dispatched to a residence on SE 8th Ave. to remove an unwanted subject.
1-28-20 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of SE 2nd St., in Galva, Karyssa Heig, 28, Kewanee, was arrested on a Peoria County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of retail theft. She was unable to post bond and was transported to the Henry County jail.
1-29-20 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 2nd St., Julie Demuynck, 29, Mineral, was arrested for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released with a court date to appear.
1-30-20 – Galva police were requested by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office to attempt to locate a subject who pumped gas in Wyoming and left without paying. The subject was contacted by telephone and returned.
1-31-20 – Galva police dispatched to the 200 block of NW 1st Ave. for a complaint involving a threatening text from a relative.
1-31-20 – Galva police dispatched to the 00 block of NE 4th St. for a loose cat complaint.
1-31-20 – As the result of a theft complaint at Sentry Estates, Paul Wilmer, 57, Galva, was arrested for theft under $500. He was given a notice to appear in court and released.
2-1-20 – Galva police dispatched to the 100 block of NE 7th St. for a stolen vehicle report. A short time later, the vehicle was found unoccupied and had been involved in a rollover accident north of town. The incident remains under investigation.
