Incidents & Accidents
Stark County

2-18 – Dulce M. Contreras, 27, Kewanee, ticketed for driving while license was suspended and for operation of an uninsured vehicle. Ticketed in the same traffic stop was passenger Jose L. Contreras, 27, also of Kewanee, cited for possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle.
2-20 – Travis G. Riddle, 31, Wyoming, ticketed for unlawful possession of adult-use cannabis in a vehicle and disobeying a stop sign.
2-20 – Kewan D. Hudson, 25, Peoria, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the city of Galesburg for failure to appear on a traffic related violation. He was also charged with possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle. Hudson was transported directly to the Knox County Jail. Also cited was the driver Hannah M. Dozard, 19, Bradford, for speeding 80 mph in a 55 zone.
2-21 – Bryce W. Glisan, 33, Galva, was cited for driving on a suspended registration due to mandatory insurance, loud exhaust and illegal possession of adult use cannabis.
2-22 – Keith Strong, 35, Peoria, cited for driving on an expired registration.
2-24 – A two-vehicle accident occurred at 8:44 a.m. at the intersection of Illinois Route 40 and Castleton Road (Western Avenue). Drivers involved were Michael A. Hamilton, 63, Toulon, and Hobart M. Stutt, 47, of Clinton, Iowa.
According to the accident report Stutt was traveling south on Route 40 and Hamilton was driving west on Western Ave. when he entered the intersection and was struck by the oncoming truck. Hamilton was transported by Stark County Ambulance to OSF St. Francis Hospital, and a passenger from the same vehicle Helen D. Sammons-Hamilton, 64, Toulon, was life-flighted from the scene and taken to the same hospital. Hamilton was cited for failure to yield at the stop intersection.
Peoria County Report
2-23 – Kyra D. Comer, 26, of Toulon was arrested about 3:45 p.m. and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
2-26 – Troy L. Bowen, 53, of Edelstein was arrested shortly before 9 a.m. and accused of burglary, possession of burglary tools, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
Galva Report
2-7 – A Galva-area man reported the radio inside his minivan was stolen, but no evidence of forced entry was found. A Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched about 6:15 p.m. Feb. 7 to the 2800 block of Illinois Route 17, where he found the 65-year-old resident in his driveway. Dogs were plentiful on the property, according to a report.
The deputy noted the area around which the radio was missing from the 1994 Plymouth Voyager was covered in dust and dog hair. The owner said the incident happened within the previous few days. The deputy requested additional patrols in the area.
Officer dispatched:
2-19 – to a residence on NW 3rd Ave. to assist the ambulance with a patient having an altered mental status. The subject was transported for treatment.
2-19 – to the 100 block of SW 6th St. assist with a civil standby to retrieve property.
2-19 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 700 block of W. Division St., Linda Gaard, 53, Altona, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for no insurance. She was released with a court date.
2-19 – Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NE 5th St. for a child custody dispute.
2-19 – Lacey Hughes, 31, Galesburg, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd St.
2-19 – to the 500 block of SW 3rd Ave. to remove an unwanted subject.
2-20 – to the 700 block of NW 5th Ave. for a loose dog complaint. The dog returned home before it was found by the police.
2-21 – to the 300 block of SW 3rd St. for a reported fight in progress. Officer determined the caller was having a mental-health crisis.
2-21 – to the 300 block of Front St. to assist a business ban a subject who caused issues. The subject was served with a banning letter.
2-21 – to City Hall to retrieve a check found and turned in. Officer took the check to its rightful owner.
2-21 – along with the fire department, Stark County Medic, Life Flight helicopter, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Office of Emergency Management, were dispatched to the Galva Big River Resources Ethanol Plant for a subject who received severe burns. The patient was airlifted to Iowa City for treatment.
2-21 – to the 300 block of SW 3rd St. for a subject having a mental-health crisis.
2-21 – to the 00 block of SW 2nd St. to remove an unwanted subject. After a brief altercation, Jeffrey McBride, 28, Wyoming, was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting or obstructing a police officer. He was released with a court date.
2-22 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of SW 2nd Ave, Angelo D’Andrea, 86, Galva, was arrested for operating a vehicle with a cancelled driver’s license. He was released with a court date.
2-22 – to the 800 block of SE 2nd St. for two loose dogs. They were located and impounded.
2-23 – to the 200 block of SE 2nd St. for a loose-dog complaint. The dog owner was able to catch the dog.
2-23 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of SE Industrial Ave., Kyle Leverette, 26, LaFayette, was issued a citation for no lights when required. A passenger, Kayla Snider, 34, Kewanee, got into a physical altercation with the officer when he attempted to arrest her on a Henry County warrant for failing to appear on the charge of driving under the influence of drugs. She was taken into custody and charged with resisting or obstructing a police officer as well as the warrant. She was taken to the Henry County Jail.
2-23 – to the 300 block of SE 3rd St. for a child-custody dispute.
2-23 – Cody Jenkins, 32, Victoria, cited for having expired registration in the 100 block of SE 2nd St.
2-23 – Nichole Gillespie, 46, Galesburg, cited for not having registration and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 500 block of W. Division St.
2-24 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 500 block of NW 5th Ave., Rebecca Muckey, 35, Galva, became involved in a physical altercation with an officer. After a lengthy struggle, she was arrested for resisting a police officer, possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle when registration suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a court date.
2-24 – to the 300 block of Main St. for a two-vehicle accident with damage only.
2-24 – to the 700 block of NE 2nd St. to remove an unwanted subject and hand out a banning letter.
2-24 – to the 300 block of SE 2nd St. for a loose and aggressive dog. As the result, Paige Davis, 27, Galva, was issued a notice to appear in court for violating the Illinois leash law.
2-24 – to the 200 block of NW 4th Ave. for a utility complaint involving lines down. It was determined to be a cable line. Mediacom was notified.
2-25 – to the 600 block of NW 1st St. for a verbal dispute. The subjects agreed to stay separated.
