Incidents & Accidents
Stark County
3-21 – A two-vehicle accident occurred on Route 17 north of County Road 900E. Drivers involved were Mia S.K. Hamilton, 18, Wyoming, and a 16-year-old rural Wyoming teen.
According to the report, Hamilton said she was driving behind a Chevrolet pickup truck when a large group of deer appeared in the roadway. Hamilton struck the rear end of the truck when both drivers reacted to trying to avoid hitting the animals.

No injuries were reported but Hamilton’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene due to severe damage to the front end of her 2001 Ford van. No tickets were issued.

3-27 – A harassment/threats complaint was reported to authorities from a Toulon resident in the 500 block of S. Newman St.

3-30 – John P. Groter, of rural Wyoming, reported criminal damage to property after he discovered evidence of damage to his vehicle. The incident remains under investigation.

3-30 – The Stark County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 400 block of Jefferson and Union streets in Toulon after a resident advised of a possible dog attack involving a pedestrian walking through the area. The dog reportedly was injured in the incident and was transported by a deputy to the Wyoming Veterinary’s office where it was euthanized. The incident remains under investigation.

Officer dispatched:
3-25 – to 600 block of S. Center Ave. for a loose-dog complaint. The dog was captured and later returned to its owner.

3-25 – to the 300 block of SW 3rd St. for a 911 hang-up call. It was determined the subject was having a mental-health crisis.

3-26 – Officer met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to give them a freedom of information form.

3-26 – to help a citizen at the Galva Police Department after the subject missed a court date for a traffic offense. Officer assisted him with making a phone call to get the date rescheduled.

3-26 – to assist the ambulance with an unresponsive patient in the 00 block of SW 4th Ave.

3-26 – to the 300 block of NW 4th Ave. for a criminal damage to property complaint.

3-26 – to the 500 block of SW 3rd Ave. to remove an unwanted subject.

3-26 – to the 500 block of SW 3rd Ave. for a criminal damage to property complaint.

3-26 – to the 00 block of NE 1st Ave. for a welfare check on a suicidal subject. As the result, Rochelle Owens, 34, Chicago, was arrested for a Wisconsin probation violation warrant. She was taken to the Henry County Jail.

3-26 – to the 400 block of NW 1st St. for a loud-vehicle complaint.

3-26 – to the 00 block of SW 4th St. for a domestic disturbance. A subject was given a written banning letter and removed from the property.

3-26 – to a residence on SW 4th St. for a juvenile having homicidal thoughts and refusing to return home. The juvenile was transported to the Galva Police Department to meet a crisis worker and then transported by ambulance for evaluation/treatment.

3-27 – to the 00 block of NE 5th Ave. to assist an elderly citizen who needed minor help with an electronic device that wasn’t working.

3-27 – As the result of a traffic complaint in the 600 block of S. Center Ave., Brandi York, 29, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended and operating a vehicle displaying expired registration. She was released with a court date.

3-27 – to the 00 block of SW 4th St. for a complaint of a banned subject who forced entry into an apartment. This remains under investigation.

3-27 – to the 00 block of SW 4th St. to assist Illinois DCFS.

3-28 – to the 00 block of NW 4th Ave. for several 911 hang-up complaints. It was determined to be a call about a carbon monoxide detector going off. The fire department was contacted to investigate.

3-28 – to the 00 block of SW 4th St. for a welfare check on a juvenile. The juvenile was located and was taken home to a custodial parent.

3-29 – While patrolling, the officer saw a solicitor going door-to-door in the 500 and 600 block of NW 5th St. As the result, Zachary Komorowski, 24, Green Bay, Wis., was issued an administrative warning ticket for soliciting without a permit.

3-29 – to the 00 block of SW 4th St. for a civil-property dispute.

3-29 – While patrolling, the officer observed young children playing close to the roadway in the 900 block of SE 2nd St.. Officer spoke to a parent and warned them to keep the children further away from the roadway.

3-30 – to the 200 block of NW 1st Ave. for a complaint involving a neighbor’s dog that attacked another dog. The victim dog was transported to an emergency vet clinic and the other dog owner agreed to pay any fees incurred.

3-30 – to the 600 block of NW 1st St. for a missing 6-year-old juvenile. The juvenile was found inside a parked car at a neighbor’s house.

3-30 – to the 300 block of SW 3rd St. for a 911 open line complaint. It was determined to be a mental-health crisis.

3-30 – Scott Apodaca, 60, Galesburg, cited for speeding in the 1000 block of N. Center Ave.

3-31 – to the 300 block of County Highway 5 for a reckless driving complaint. A subject was reportedly “mudding in the ditch.” A report was written and forwarded to the state’s attorney for possible charges.

3-31 – Shauna Gallardo, 54, Atkinson, cited for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd St.
