Incidents & Accidents
6-5 – Amy A. Murphey, 48, of Chillicothe, was arrested on an outstanding Peoria County warrant. Unable to post the $300 cash bond, she was taken to the Stark County Jail. On June 7, Murphey was released from Stark County and transferred to the custody of the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department.
6-6 – Charles A. Morris Jr., 30, of Peoria, was issued notices to appear for traffic violations including improper lane usage, reckless driving, and speeding 103 mph in a 55 zone. His vehicle was also impounded.
6-8 – Brittany N. Carney, 32, of Washington, was issued notices to appear for driving on an expired driver’s license noted, driving without vehicle insurance and speeding 73 mph in a 55 zone.
6-9 – A Wyoming resident reported damage to his garage in the 300 block of N. Main St.
6-10 – Authorities had an abandoned vehicle towed off the roadway along Route 78 and 1075N.
Peoria County Report
5-25 – An Edelstein man declined medical attention following a two-vehicle accident near South Rome, but a passenger required a visit to a Peoria hospital.
The wreck happened shortly after 3 p.m. in the 2300 block of E. Wilkens Drive. According to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report, Anthony M. Rowcliff was driving a 2016 Nissan stopped in the westbound roadway when a 2007 Toyota rear-ended it. The other driver was Jeremiah J. Leflore of Peoria.
Rowcliff didn’t say why his vehicle stopped, the report stated. Of his two passengers, a male was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, with unspecified injuries. The other passenger, a female, declined medical transport, as did Leflore.

Officer dispatched:

6-5 – to the 300 block of NW 6th Ave. for a suspicious vehicle unoccupied and running. Officer located the owner, who was visiting family.
6-5 – to the 200 block of NW 7th Ave. for several 9-1-1 calls reporting a disturbance. A subject from Kewanee was at residence trying to pick up a lawn mower that had been entered into LEADS as stolen. Officer seized the mower and ultimately returned it to the owner from Kewanee.
6-5 – Officer spoke to several residents in the 00 block of NW 5th Street about a planned detour.
6-5 – to the 600 block of NW 1st St. for an illegal burning complaint. A burning wooden chair was put out with a hose and subject was advised of the burning regulations.
6-5 – to the 400 block of SE 6th Ave. for a 9-1-1 call. The resident was advised their concern was not an emergency and they were given the non-emergency number.
6-5 – to the 00 block of SE 8th Ave. for a 9-1-1 open line call. Officer located a subject on a riding lawn mower. The subject was unaware of the pocket dial.
6-5 – to the 00 block of SW 4th St. for a theft and trespassing complaint. This case is under investigation.
6-5 – to the 00 block of NE 4th Ave. for a complaint of a verbal dispute amongst roommates.
6-5 – to the 00 block of NE 4th Ave. in reference to a complaint of telephone harassment.
6-5 – to the 00 block of NE 4th Ave. to assist a citizen.
6-5 – to the 00 block of NE 4th Ave. for a complaint of threats.
6-6 – to the 100 block of NW 6th Ave. for a complaint involving a subject who received an electrical shock from exposed wires. An ambulance was summoned to the scene.
6-6 – to the 00 block of NE 4th Ave. for a theft complaint.
6-6 – to the 00 block of NE 9th St. to attempt to locate a wanted subject. As the result, Abbigail Becket, 37, Galva, was arrested on a Henry County warrant for failing to appear on several traffic charges. She was unable to post bond and was transported to the Henry County jail.
6-6 – to the 200 block of NW 1st Ave. for a city ordinance violation for junk/trash accumulation.
6-6 – Officer spoke to a resident in the 200 block of SE 1 st Ave. in reference to a parking complaint.
6-6 – to the 600 block of SE Industrial Ave. for a loose-cow complaint. The owner was contacted to handle.
6-7 – Officer, along with the fire dept, Stark County Medic, Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police, were dispatched to the SW 6th Ave railroad crossing for a car vs. train accident. Two subjects had gotten out of the car before impact. State Police handled the traffic crash and DUI arrest relating to this incident.
6-7 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of NE 6th Ave., Shawn Tarleton, 52, of Galva, was arrested on a Knox County warrant for failing to appear on a DUI charge. He posted bond and was released with a new court date.
6-7 – to a residence on NW 4th St. for a welfare check. A subject was taken by ambulance for evaluation.
6-7 – to the 300 block of S. Center Ave. for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. It was determined to be a pocket dial from a subject mowing.
6-7 – to the 400 block of SE 7th Ave. for a 9-1-1 open line call. It was determined to be another pocket dial from same subject mowing.
6-7 – to the railroad tracks on Exchange Street after a semi truck broke the crossing arm. Officer directed traffic until BNSF was able to arrive for repairs.
6-7 – to the 1300 block of SE 2nd St. for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was determined to be a pocket dial from a motorist passing through town.
6-7 – to the 100 block of NW 2nd Ave. for a battery complaint.
6-7 – to the 300 block of NW 1st St. for a harassment complaint.
6-8 – Officer received several complaints of a sick or injured red fox in the 200 block of NW 3rd St. Officer checked, but did not locate the fox.
6-8 – Officer checked on and placed a towing tag on a disabled vehicle in the 300 block of Main St.
6-8 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 6th Ave, Damon Weed, 21, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended. He was released with a required court date.
6-8 – to 00 block of SE 4th Street for a low-speed vehicle inspection.
6-8 – to meet a subject in the 500 block of SE 2nd St. to obtain information in reference to a child abuse case. DCFS was contacted.
6-9 – to the 300 block of SE 3rd St. for a loose-dog complaint.
6-9 – to the 00 block of NE 4th Ave. for a neighbor dispute.
6-9 – to 00 block of NE 4th Ave. for a verbal domestic disturbance.
6-9 – to the 800 block of NE 2nd St. for an illegal fireworks complaint.
6-9 – to 500 block of SW 4th Ave. for a complaint involving either gunshots or fireworks. Officer checked was not able to locate a source.
6-9 – to Wiley Park for a complaint involving a juvenile subject playing loud music from a vehicle. They agreed to turn it down.
6-10 – to the 100 block of SW 10th Ave for a complaint involving harassing text messages.
6-10 – to the 700 block of NW 3 rd Ave for a reckless-driving complaint.
6-10 – assisted Henry County with a complaint of an intoxicated adult subject walking north of town with open alcohol. Subject was looking for a rural Stark County campground.
6-11- to assist a motorist with a disabled vehicle in 00 block of NE 4th Ave. A tow truck was contacted.
6-11 – to the 100 block of NW 6 th Ave for a loose-dog complaint.
6-11 – to the 100 block of NW 6 th Ave for a domestic disturbance.
