Incidents & Accidents
5-14 – A possible battery complaint was reported by a patron at the Spoon River Bowl in Wyoming. The incident was investigated.
5-22 – A 31-year-old Bradford man was reported missing by relatives. He was later located.
5-22 – A 37-year-old Toulon woman was reported missing to authorities.
5-26 – Debra K. Burwell, 68, Wyoming, was taken into custody and charged with contempt of court. Later she appeared in court and was released without posting bond.
5-27 – Joshua T. Humes, 41, Peoria Heights, was ticketed for operation of an uninsured vehicle and for speeding 72 mph in a 55 zone.
5-27 – Brooke A. Barto, 42, Bradford, was cited for driving with no insurance. She was issued a notice to appear in court.
5-29 – Raymond J. Cox, of Henry, reported that his Cub Cadet riding lawn mower was stolen from his property in Castleton. The incident remains under investigation.

Officer dispatched:

5-22 – to the 800 block of NW 3rd Ave. for a complaint involving an illegally parked truck and trailer. The owner was spoken to and the truck was moved.
5-22 – to the 100 block of SE 1st Ave. for a loose-dog complaint. The dog was found and returned home.
5-22 – to the 400 block of NE 1st St. for a city ordinance violation and a property-line dispute.
5-22 – to the 100 block of NE 6th St.t for a loose-dog complaint. The owner came and retrieved the dog.
5-23 – to the 500 block of SE 2nd St. in reference to a disabled vehicle.
5-23 – to the 300 block of Front St. to assist a transient who was disoriented. The subject was transported by ambulance.
5-23 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of SW 2nd Ave., Ramsey Ingels, 23, Toulon, was arrested for operating a vehicle with suspended registration due to no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
5-23 – to assist Henry County with a complaint of a loose cow in the roadway. Officer located the cow and called the owner. A family member put the cow back into its pasture.
5-23 – to speak with a juvenile about a bicycle turned into police a week earlier. The bike was returned.
5-23 – to the NE 6th Ave. railroad tracks for a crossing-arm malfunction. BNSF was contacted for repairs.
5-23 – to an abandoned building in the 200 block of Exchange St. in reference to a bird that was flying around inside the building. The owner of the building was contacted to assist with getting the bird out.
5-23 – to a single-vehicle hit-and-run accident in the 100 block of SW 4th St. Officer was able to locate driver, Jeremiah Sall, 39, Galva, and arrested him for leaving the scene of a property damage accident, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident and failure to report a property damage accident to police authority. He was released with a required court date.
5-24 – to the Galva viaduct west of town for a complaint involving items thrown off the bridge that were hit by a train. A bicycle and other items were removed from the tracks.
5-24 – to the 100 block of NE 9th St. for a civil property dispute.
5-24 – to the 100 block of NE 9th St. for a loud-music complaint. Music was turned down.
5-25 – Officer was flagged down about a sick or injured red fox lying near the road in the 100 block of North Center Ave. The officer was able to chase the fox toward the west.
5-25 – to the 200 block of NW 4th Ave for a criminal damage to property complaint after a window was found broken at the church.
5-25 – to the west edge of Galva to attempt to locate a truck pulling a trailer that damaged another vehicle west of town. The trailer contained long metal pieces that struck and damaged a mirror. Officer located the truck and phone numbers and insurance information were exchanged between both drivers.
5-25 – to the 100 block of NE 4th St. for a complaint involving subjects hanging out at a vacant house.
5-25 – to a residence on NE 4th St. to speak with a subject who was having a mental-health crisis.
5-26 – to check on two vehicles parked at the Galva Park District after hours. The subjects were told to get dressed and move along.
5-26 – to the 00 block of SW 2nd St. for a complaint of two subjects loitering and bothering customers for money and cigarettes.
5-26 – to the 100 block of North Center Ave. for an activated alarm going off behind the water works building. An employee of the water department was contacted for repairs.
5-26 – to the 100 block of NE 4th St. to follow up with a sex offender who was out-of-compliance. As the result, Stephon Brown, 24, Galva, was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender. He was taken to the Henry County jail.
5-27 – to a residence on NW 4th St. for a welfare check. Subject was taken by ambulance for treatment.
5-27 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 800 block of SE 2nd Street, Raheen Franks, 21, of Mississippi, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license and for speeding. He was released with a court date.
5-27 – to the 400 block of NW 3rd Ave. for a loud-music complaint.
5-27 – to a verbal disturbance complaint in the 600 block of NW 1st St.
5-27 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Center Ave., Ronald Bombliss, 64, Galva, was arrested on a Henry County warrant for failing to appear on charges of retail theft and fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer. He was able to post bond and was released with a new court date.
5-27 – to the 00 block of SW 2nd St. for a complaint of a baggie found containing an illegal substance.
5-27 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 400 block of SW 2nd Ave., Patrick Hammons, 67, Galva, was arrested for operating a vehicle with registration suspended for no insurance. After a police K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle, a probable cause search was conducted. Patrick was also charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released with a court date for both offenses.
5-27 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 1300 block of SE 2nd St., Manuel Mercado-Ramos, 32, Kewanee, was arrested for having a “cancelled driver’s license.” He was released with a required court date.
5-28 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 300 block of SW 1st Ave., Timothy Porter, 58, homeless, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license, unsafe equipment and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a court date.
5-28 – to the 300 block of SW 3rd St. for an assault that was taking place. It was determined to be a mental-health crisis.
5-28 – to the 100 block of North Center Ave for a 9-1-1 call that was plotting there. Officer did not locate anyone needing assistance.
5-28 – to a residence on NW 1st Ave. for a suicidal juvenile. The subject was transported by ambulance.
5-28 – to the 00 block of NE 1st Ave. for a domestic disturbance.
5-28 – to the 00 block of SW 5th St. for a loud-music complaint. The subjects were advised to turn it down.
5-25 – Nikiya Nicholson, 38, Galesburg, was issued citations for speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 900 block of SE 2nd St.
5-27 – Mason Hootman, 19, Alexis, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1200 block of SE 2nd St.
5-27 – Amy Mefford, 63, Wataga, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd St.
5-27 – Donald Miller, 54, of Avon, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd St.
5-28 – Jessica Jape, 43, of Mineral, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of SE 2nd St.
