7-1 – Samantha G. Engholm, 23, Toulon, was arrested for domestic battery and criminal damage to property. She was transported to the Bureau County Jail and one day later released with a notice to appear.
7-1 – Robert A. Hankins, 28, of Peoria and Kendra M. Steelman, 39, of Toulon were involved in a two-vehicle accident on Tonti Road near the intersection of Clinton Street in Toulon. According to the accident report, Hankins was traveling west on Clinton Street when his vehicle struck Steelman’s vehicle traveling east in the opposite lane. Hankins reportedly left the scene but was later stopped by authorities on Illinois Route 78. No injuries were reported. Hankins was cited for leaving the scene and improper lane usage.

Knox County Report
6-24 – A LaFayette woman required a hospital visit after a single-vehicle wreck near the Stark-Knox county border. Lynda M. Busse, 79, was driving an eastbound 2006 Buick sedan about 11:15 a.m. in the 2300 block of Illinois Route 17 when the vehicle left the road, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report.
Busse’s vehicle went into a north-side ditch, struck a culvert and stopped about 20 yards off the pavement in a soybean field.
Busse was transported by ambulance to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was cited for an invalid driver’s license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The vehicle was towed and impounded.
Peoria County Report
6-19 – A Galva woman was accused of stealing almost $1,000 in clothing from a department store at Northwoods Mall in Peoria. Jewel L. King, 27, was arrested during a traffic stop 16 days after the alleged incident at JC Penney. Security video showed a woman pushing a shopping cart out of the store about 3 p.m. June 3, according to a Peoria Police Department report. Merchandise worth $958.50, was recovered. King was charged with retail theft over $300 and taken to Peoria County Jail.

6-30 – Officer was flagged down in the 300 block of NW 4th Ave. by a citizen who appeared to be suffering from a mental-health crisis.
6-30 – After a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2nd St., Chessa Griffin, 34, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle with suspended registration and operating an uninsured vehicle. A passenger, Michael Guerrero, 33, Kewanee, was arrested on a Henry County warrant for two counts of failing to appear on charges of driving while license suspended. He was taken to the Henry County Jail.
7-1 – to the 900 block of N. Center Ave. for an attempted break-in. Minor damage was noted, but entry was not made.
7-1 – to the 00 block of NE 4th St. for a solicitor complaint. Officer located the subjects in the 100 block of NW 2nd Ave. They did not have a permit and were told to cease their activities.

7-5 – While patrolling, officer found an injured person lying near the roadway in the 00 block of SW 9th Ave. Witnesses advised officer that subject was struck by a vehicle driven by a family member. Victim was taken by ambulance. Involved parties declined to cooperate so no charges were filed.

7-6 – along with the fire department and Stark County Medic after a vehicle struck a parked car and a house in the 500 block of SW 4th Ave. Henry County also responded and ultimately charged the driver with traffic offenses and DUI, drugs.
7-6 – to the 200 block of NW 1st St. for a male subject passed out in a parking lot. Upon arrival, officer learned the subject had a warrant from LaSalle County for failing to appear on retail theft charges. Jason Sherbeyn, 48, Galva, was ultimately given a notice to appear and released.
7-6 – to the 400 block of SE 7th Ave. for a complaint involving a group of juveniles who were knocking on doors and then running away. The subjects were located and ultimately turned over to a guardian.
