Incidents & Accidents
Stark County
7-6 – A deer-related accident occurred on Route 40 near the intersection of 1750N. The driver involved was Chad M. Cade, 26, of Lacon, No injuries were reported. Damages were estimated at over $1,500.
7-17 – A single-vehicle accident occurred on Route 17 at the intersection of 700N. The driver was Melissa M. Williams, 33, of Peoria. Both driver and passenger were transported by Stark County Ambulance to St. Luke Hospital in Kewanee. No tickets were issued. The vehicle sustained over $1,500 in damages.
7-19 – Kaylin D. Nichols, 25, Wyoming, was cited for driving with a loud exhaust.
7-15 – Edwin L. Moats, 41, Bradford was arrested in Stark County on a Henry County warrant for failure to appear on the original charge for illegal possession of cannabis. He was later released with a notice to appear with a new court date scheduled.
7-21 – Walter S. Hollis, 44, Kewanee turned himself into authorities at the Stark County Jail for a warrant on the original charge for aggravated driving under the influence. He was later released with a notice to appear.
7-22 – Wayne E. Dienst, of rural Toulon, reported a possible theft after discovering evidence someone broke into his shed. The incident remains under investigation,
7-23 – Nathan L. Anderson, 27, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was cited for driving without insurance and speeding. He was issued a notice to appear.
7-25 – Shawn D. Kessler, 44, Kewanee, was issued a notice to appear for excessive noise for a loud muffler.
Galva Report
Officer dispatched:
7-12 – Officer notified that a train had stopped and was blocking all Galva crossings for an extended period of time. BNSF was contatced and the train eventually moved on.
7-13 – to the 00 block of NE 4th Ave. for a disturbance and to remove an unwanted subject.
7-13 – to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street for a traffic complaint. The vehicle was located at a residence.
7-13 – to a rural address south and west of Galva to assist Knox County with a domestic disturbance.
7-15 – Officer notified about a possible battery that had occurred near the intersection of SE 6th Ave. and SE 3rd Street.
7-15 – After a short pursuit on South County Road, Rebbecca Muckey, 33, Galva, was arrested for fleeing or attempting to elude police, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
7-15 – to a suspicious person complaint in the 00 block of SE 2nd Ave.
7-15 – to the 500 block of SE 4th Street to assist Kewanee Police in locating a vehicle that may have been involved in a hit and run.
7-16 – Officer flagged down in the 400 block of SW 4th Ave. in reference to a criminal damage to property complaint.
7-16 – Officer, along with the Fire Department and Stark County Medic were dispatched to the 300 block of NW 4th Ave. for a natural gas odor.
7-16 – to a residence just west of town in reference to the property owner blowing grass clippings into the roadway.
7-17 – to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street to locate a customer who got fuel and didn’t pay. The subject was located and returned to pay.
7-17 – to NE 1st Street to remove an unwanted subject.
7-17 – to the 300 block of SW 6th Ave. for an illegal burning complaint.
7-18 – to a residence on NW 8th Street for a possible suicidal subject. The subject was transported by ambulance.
7-19 – to a residence on NW 8th Street to check an open front door. Officer checked the house and nobody was there.
7-19 – to the 100 block of South Center Ave. for an ordinance violation and also to attempt to locate a wanted subject. As the result, Howard Field, 75, Galva was arrested on a Henry County warrant for failure to appear on several traffic charges. He posted bond and was given a new court date. Field was also issued an AWT for having an unlicensed and non-running vehicle on his property.
7-19 – to the 100 block of Market Street for a possible stolen vehicle report. As the officer arrived in the area, he saw the suspect vehicle and made a traffic stop in the 400 block of North Center Ave. As a result, Mandy Pratt, 41, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended. The vehicle was not stolen. She was released with a required court date.
7-19 – to the east edge of town for a reckless driving complaint on Route 34. Officer located the suspect unit and stopped it for a lane violation. A written warning was issued.
7-19 – to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street for a two-vehicle crash with damage only.
7-20 – to the 300 block of SE 7th Ave. for theft complaint.
7-20 – to NE 1st Street to remove an unwanted subject.
7-20 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 700 block of NE 4th Street, Christopher Hill, 41, Galva, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license and given a warning for a loud muffler violation. He was released with a required court date.
7-21 – to Route 34 west of town for a welfare check of a transient. Due to the high heat, subject was transported to rural Kewanee.
7-21 – to the east edge of town for a reckless driver coming toward Galva. The vehicle was located, but no probable cause was found for a traffic stop.
7-21 – to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street for a complaint involving an elderly subject bumping into a pedestrian while backing from a parking space. No injuries were reported.
7-21 – to the Exchange Street railroad crossing after an unknown vehicle struck the crossing arm and it was struck by a passing train. Officer directed traffic until BNSF could replace the broken arm.
7-21 – to the 100 block of NE 4th Street for a complaint of several adults shooting bb guns at each other.
7-22 – to the 600 block of SE 6th Ave. for an elderly subject who had fallen in the roadway.
7-22 – to Wiley Park for a minibike complaint. A juvenile was warned about riding in the roadway.
7-22 – to the 300 block of NE 2nd Street for a loose dog complaint. As the result, Stephanie Snider, 32, Galva, was issued a citation.
7-22 – to Route 34 near Midland Road for an injured dog in the roadway. The dog was euthanized.
7-23 – to the 900 block of SE 2nd Street for a possible gunshot complaint. Officer checked the area and wasn’t able to locate anyone.
7-23 – to the 300 block of SW 6th Ave. for a fight taking place.
7-24 – to the 700 block of NW 5th Ave. for a complaint involving juvenile mischief.
7-24 – to the intersection of South Center Ave. and 6th Street for a two-vehicle accident involving injuries. Several subjects were transported by ambulance. Citations are pending.
7-20 – Sherry Blair, 49, Galva, was issued an AWT for maintenance of property in 300 block of SE 4th Ave.
7-20 – Roger Ingels, 52, Galva, was issued an AWT for unlicensed vehicles or parts in 300 block of SW 4th Ave.
7-23 – John Bainbridge, 54, Galva, was issued an AWT for maintenance of property in 00 block of SW 8th Ave.
7-23 – Wendy Bennett, 41, Galva, was issued an AWT for maintenance of property and unlicensed vehicles in 00 block of SW 8th Ave.
