Incidents & Accidents
Stark County

9-1 – Christopher M. Schmitt, 50, of Little Canada, Minn., was involved in a single-vehicle accident occurred on 1700N near the intersection of 1700E at 6:16 p.m. Schmitt was traveling west on 1700N when he reportedly did not see the stop sign and locked up the brakes before dropping his motorcycle and skidding to a stop. No injuries were reported but the motorcycle sustained estimated damages of over $1,500.
9-18 – Hope B. Royer, of Wyoming, reported that her son’s bicycle was stolen.
9-19 – Samuel R. Cornell, 22, Germantown Hills, was ticketed for speeding 72 mph in a 55 zone and for illegal adult use of cannabis in a vehicle. He was issued a court date.
9-19 – Lisa M. Thompson, 43, Neponset, was cited for not having new vehicle registration, unlawful display of title documents and no vehicle insurance. She was issued a court date.
9-19 – Shytya L. Alexander, 33, Peoria, was ticketed for speeding 80 mph in a 55 zone.
9-19 – Preston D. R. Yoder, 20, Granger, Ind., was cited for speeding 80 mph in a 55 zone.
9-21 – Justin R. Ludolph, 30, Brimfield, was charged after he attempted to flee from authorities following an incident that began at the Casey’s General Store in Toulon. According to the arresting Stark County Deputy William Dorn, he attempted to stop Ludolph after he noticed the motorcycle driver did not have the required safety equipment. Ludolph fled from the deputy at a high rate of speed before losing control and wrecking the motorcycle on 800E south on Illinois Route 17. Ludolph was transported by ambulance to OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria to be treated for his injuries. He was later ticketed for driving without necessary special equipment, driving without a valid registration, fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, driving with no insurance and driving without the proper driver’s license classification. He was issued a court date to appear.
9-22 – Christopher M. Melaga, of Bradford, reported a grain wagon was missing from the 100 block of Second Street in Bradford.

Peoria County report
9-20 – Shawn A. Slightom, 34, of Toulon was arrested shortly before 3:30 p.m. Sept. 20 and accused of domestic battery/physical contact, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office. Slightom also was being held for another law-enforcement agency.
9-23 – Amy L. Gardner, 47, of Edelstein was arrested shortly before 1:45 a.m. and accused of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, driving on a revoked license and illegal head-lamp use, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Officer dispatched:

9-16 – to the 00 block of SE 6th Ave. for a loose dog complaint. A neighbor recognized the dog and returned it to its property nearby.
9-16 – Officer met with the relative of a resident to turn over firearms that have been held at the Galva Police Department for safekeeping after an earlier suicide attempt.
9-16 – to the 00 block of NE 2nd St. to assist the Kewanee Police Department with a forgery case.
9-16 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 00 block of SW 2nd St. Renee Rose, 22, Bradford, was arrested for driving with a suspended license. She was processed and released with a required court date.
9-17 – to a verbal domestic disturbance involving an out-of-control juvenile in the 200 block of NW 7th Ave.
9-17 – to the 500 block of SW 3rd Ave. for a verbal domestic disturbance/remove unwanted subject complaint.
9-17 – to the 300 block of Main St. to investigate a complaint of several juveniles dressed in all black clothing and lurking around businesses after closing hours. Officer was not able to locate them.
9-18 – to the 1000 block of N. Center Ave. for a criminal damage to vehicle complaint after a windshield was found with damage.
9-18 – to a residence in Galva for a complaint of possible sexual abuse that had occurred.
9-18 – to the 600 block of SE Industrial Ave. for a complaint of a passing motorist dumping a dog out and speeding away. Officer was not able to locate the dog or vehicle.
9-18 – Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4th Ave. for a traffic complaint involving a utility trailer parked along the roadway. It was not determined to be a traffic hazard.
9-18 – to the 300 block of SE 6th St. for a complaint involving unknown subjects throwing items at a house. Officer was not able to locate anyone in the area.
9-19 – to the 100 block of E. Division St. to assist a subject who had lost his wallet in the downtown area.
9-20 – While patrolling, the officer noticed that several railroad crossing arms were activated and no trains were present. BNSF was contacted.
9-20 – to the 00 block of SW 4th St. to remove an unwanted subject after a disturbance.
9-20 – to the 00 block of SW 4th St. for a trespassing complaint.
9-21 – to the 300 block of Front St. for a disturbance complaint involving several patrons.
9-21 – to a residence on NE 6th Ave. to check the welfare of a subject.
9-21 – to the 700 block of W. Division St. to assist a motorist who locked their keys inside a vehicle. They were referred to a locksmith.
9-21 – to the 300 block of NW 8th Ave. for a utility wire pulled down by farm machinery. Mediacom was contacted for repairs.
9-21 – to the 600 block of NW 4th Ave. for a loose dog. It was taken to impound and later released to its owners from rural Bishop Hill.
9-21 – Troy Anderson, 61, Alpha cited for disobeying a stop sign in the 200 block of SW 2nd St.
9-21 – Roselene Loritan, 31, Rock Falls, cited for operating an uninsured vehicle in the 600 block of SE 2nd St.
9-22 – Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 1st Ave. for a verbal domestic disturbance.
9-22 – to the 400 block of SW 3rd Ave. for a loose-dog complaint. It was impounded and later released to its owner.
9-22 – to the 400 block of N. Center Ave. for a theft complaint.
9-22 – to the 00 block of SW 2nd St. for a welfare check after a child custody exchange occurred.
9-22 – to a subject about a possible violation of an order of protection complaint.
