Police reports

• YATES CITY – A Yates City woman reported two television sets were stolen from her residence.
The apparent burglary took place sometime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sept. 22 in the 300 block of S. Dixon St., according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report.

Missing from the 25-year-old victim’s living room was a 55-inch wall-mounted Roku Smart TV. A 65-inch Roku Smart TV placed atop a dresser was missing from a bedroom. Total value was $700.

There were no signs of forced entry, although one door was ajar and another was not secured as usual.
• PRINCEVILLE – A two-vehicle accident south of Princeville resulted in no apparent injuries.

At 1:15 p.m. Sept. 22, Kristl L. DeBord was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was turning left from northbound Princeville-Jubilee Road to westbound Laura Road when it struck a 2009 Honda Odyssey, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

Becky A. Yemm of LaFayette was the other driver. She said she was eastbound on Laura Road waiting at a stop sign to turn right onto Princeville-Jubilee Road. DeBord said she didn’t see the Odyssey because of trees and bushes. The vehicles sustained minor damage and were drivable.

• PEORIA – An accident on Interstate 474 distracted a Hanna City driver to the point where he rear-ended another vehicle, according to authorities.

Joseph M. Schaefer was driving a 2003 Honda Civic shortly before 6:30 a.m. Sept. 22 on the eastbound interstate near Airport Road when the vehicle struck a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Randy L. Christianson of Peoria, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.

Christianson said traffic was slowed and stopped because of an accident and vehicle fire in the westbound lanes. Schaefer was looking at the accident and didn’t notice traffic in front of him had stopped.

No injuries were reported. The Civic sustained disabling front-end damage and was towed.

• DUNLAP – A driver from Dahinda struck a utility pole as he attempted to exit a Dunlap business.
Delvin R. Powell was behind the wheel of a 1998 Freightliner semi-trailer truck at the time of the accident, shortly before 4:45 p.m. Sept. 23 at Commercial Mechanical Inc., 50 N. First St.

According to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report, Powell navigated a corner not wide enough to avoid striking the pole.

• KICKAPOO – No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle crash south of Kickapoo.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sept. 23, Jenny S. Ennis of Galesburg was driving a 2007 Saturn Ion that was exiting the parking lot of the Shell gasoline station at 7200 N. Kickapoo-Edwards Rd. when it struck a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Report stated.

The Equinox, driven by Ana L. Alarcon-Santana of Peoria, was southbound on Kickapoo-Edwards Road. Ennis said she was turning south and didn’t see the Equinox rounding a slight bend in the road. Both vehicles were drivable. The Equinox had three passengers, a male and two females.

• FARMINGTON – A Brimfield-area man’s blood-alcohol content registered at more than twice the legal limit following a traffic stop near Farmington.

A Farmington police officer observed Tanner M. McQuellon, 25, driving an eastbound 2011 Chevrolet Suburban erratically shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sept. 21 on E. Fort St. The officer pulled over McQuellon on northbound Illinois Route 78.

McQuellon said he had just left a Farmington bar, a police report stated. An open can of Busch Light beer, about one-quarter full, was found in the vehicle. McQuellon’s BAC was .19; the legal limit is .08.

McQuellon was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol, disobeying a stop sign and two counts of driving under the influence. The vehicle was impounded.

• FARMINGTON – A traffic stop in Farmington resulted in a Galesburg man being accused of driving with an invalid license.

Damien L. Glass, 42, was driving a 2022 Kia sedan when a Farmington police officer pulled it over shortly before 4 p.m. Sept. 20 at West and Pearl streets. A pre-stop check revealed Glass’ driver’s license was canceled. Glass said he wasn’t aware of it, according to a police report.

Glass received a notice to appear Oct. 31 in Fulton County Circuit Court in Lewistown. His vehicle was impounded.

• FARMINGTON – A Farmington woman was accused of destroying the birth certificate of a local man, as well as the title to his vehicle.

Angela D. Layton, 49, received a notice to appear in Fulton County Circuit Court in Lewistown after a Farmington police officer visited her shortly after 8:45 p.m. Sept. 19 at a residence in the 500 block of Jennings Ave.

The 42-year-old victim indicated Layton ripped up the documents, according to a Farmington police report. Layton said she believed the documents belonged to her, including one for a vehicle she no longer owned. The title was for a 2006 Ford Mustang.

• KNOXVILLE – No serious injuries were reported following a two-vehicle wreck east of Knoxville that involved a man from Yates City.

The accident happened shortly before 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at Illinois Route 97 and Interstate 74, a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report stated. James A. Baker, 55, was driving a 2017 Nissan Titan north on Route 97 when a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck struck it.

Mark A. Stang of Galesburg was the other driver. He exited the westbound interstate and failed to stop at the intersection. He was cited for disobeying a stop sign. Stang and Baker said they weren’t injured.
• OAK RUN – An Oak Run-area woman was the victim of an apparent telephone scam.

The 71-year-old resident of the 1800 block of Cottonwood Court said she received a call Sept. 11 from a Middle Eastern-accented male who claimed to be with Debt Relief, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report.

She provided him her personal information. A short time later, Amazon.com contacted her regarding a charge for $4,200. The sheriff’s office was notified shortly after 12:30 p.m. Sept. 16.

• ABINGDON – An Oak Run woman was cited for careless driving following a two-vehicle crash at the south edge of Abingdon.

Meghan R. Westergreen, 27, was driving a northbound 2021 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck shortly after 1:30 p.m. Sept. 6 in the 1000 block of Illinois Route 41 when the vehicle rear-ended a northbound 2018 Toyota Camry, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report released recently.

The other driver was Alexia L. Wessels, 24, of Galesburg. Westergreen said the accident happened when she reached behind her seat to give a napkin to her 4-year-old daughter.
