• WYOMING – A suspect was arrested regarding an August incident in which a vehicle left a road north of Princeville and crashed into a vehicle parked in a driveway.
A Stark County Sheriff’s Office deputy took Joshua M. Belville, 34, of Wyoming into custody about 9:15 p.m. Oct. 2 following a traffic stop. Belville was suspected of crashing his vehicle Aug. 19 in front of a residence in the 22800 block of Illinois Route 91, then leaving the scene.
The northbound 2016 Jeep Cherokee ran over a fence on the west side of the road, then continued northeast and struck a 2020 Ford Expedition sport-utility vehicle. After it struck a tree, the Cherokee stopped.
Belville was accused of reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and illegal transportation of alcohol, per a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. He was taken to Peoria County Jail.
• FARMINGTON – A man found lying under trees along a road east of Farmington was wanted in suburban Chicago for drunken driving.
Farmington police were summoned shortly after 1:30 p.m. Oct. 1 to the 24000 block of Illinois Route 116. There they found Claude A. Hensley Jr., 42, of Mokena prone on the south side of the road, according to a report.
Hensley said he had been staying with his sister in Abingdon but left following an argument with her boyfriend. He told officers he walked from Abingdon to Farmington and planned to walk to Peoria.
DuPage County authorities had issued a no-bond warrant for Hensley. He was arrested and transported to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
• PRINCEVILLE – No injuries were reported after a two-vehicle crash at a Princeville intersection.
Shortly before 4:45 p.m. Oct. 3, Karen E. Gehrig of Edelstein was driving a 2014 Honda Pilot east on Spring Street when, at Walnut Avenue, it collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a boy from Wyoming, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
The Pilot left the pavement and ran over a telephone-internet box on the southeast corner of the intersection. The boy said he was southbound on Walnut Avenue, had stopped at the intersection and looked both ways but didn’t see the Pilot.
Gehrig had two passengers, a male and a female. The Pilot sustained major damage, and the Equinox sustained disabling passenger-side damage. Both vehicles were towed.
• PRINCEVILLE – A man who had been banned from Princeville School District property was accused of violating that prohibition. William J. Vaughn, 40, of Princeville was arrested following the alleged violation. It happened at 10:15 a.m. Oct. 1 at or near Princeville Junior-Senior High School, 302 N. Cordis Ave., according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Vaughn was taken to Peoria County Jail. He was banned until May 2026 following an incident five months ago at the junior-senior high school. According to district officials, Vaughn possessed a knife during a verbal altercation after a band concert.
• HANNA CITY – No injuries were reported after a vehicle struck another that was parked in the lot of a Hanna City restaurant.
At 5:30 p.m. Sept. 24, Richard L. Light of Bartonville was parking a 2008 Honda Odyssey minivan at Gil’s Supper Club, 12703 W. Farmington Rd., when his vehicle hit the rear bumper of a stopped 2013 Volkswagen Golf, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
More than $1,500 in damage was reported.
• MAQUON – A pair of Yates City men required hospital attention after a single-vehicle crash near Maquon. Scott A. Agans, 57, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck shortly after 5:15 p.m. Sept. 24 in the 600 block of Illinois Route 97 when it rolled off the road, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report.
Agans and passenger Timothy S. Agans, 26, were transported to OSF Saint Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. The vehicle was towed.
The elder Agans was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
• KICKAPOO – Shortly before 11 p.m. Oct. 4, Preston Von Behren of Edwards was driving a 2018 Subaru WRX east in the 12000 block of U.S. Route 150 west of Kickapoo when the vehicle struck a deer. Von Behren wasn’t injured, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The vehicle sustained damage but was drivable.
• FARMINGTON – At 4 a.m. Oct. 4, Alicia L. Phillips of Trivoli was driving a 2005 Lincoln Town Car in the 3100 block of S. Stone School Rd. when the vehicle struck a deer. Phillips lost control of the vehicle, which veered into the ditch, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. Phillips was not hurt. The vehicle was towed.
• LEWISTOWN – Patti Sue Miller of Farmington was taken into Fulton County Sheriff’s Office custody after 3:30 a.m. Oct. 2 at the Knox County Jail in Galesburg on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on a 2018 theft charge.
• YATES CITY – Chief Randy Benson reported the following Yates City Police Department activity for September: 13 reports, five traffic stops and five warnings.
• GALESBURG – These were among calls to which the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded between Sept. 28-Oct. 4: alarm, Dahinda; two fires, Yates City; telephone harassment, Dahinda; trespass, Yates City; parking complaint, Dahinda.
