• ELMWOOD – An Elmwood driver struck another vehicle, then drove away and later threatened to run over someone, according to authorities.
Scott A. Doubet, 76, was behind the wheel of an eastbound 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that hit a parked 2009 Ford Mustang at 6:15 a.m. Nov. 12 in the 400 block of E. Main St., an Elmwood Police Department report stated. Doubet did not stop following the accident.
A 23-year-old Elmwood woman owned the Mustang. A neighbor, a 30-year-old man, heard the accident from inside his residence, then drove after Doubet. The neighbor blocked Doubet’s vehicle at McClellan Road and Illinois Route 8.
The neighbor said Doubet admitted striking the Mustang, then tried to run over him before he headed back into town. Doubet also admitted guilt to an Elmwood police officer regarding the accident and said he was in a hurry.
Doubet was accused of aggravated battery with a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and disorderly conduct. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
• WILLIAMSFIELD – A Stark County woman was accused of child abandonment following an incident north of Williamsfield.
Felicia M. Potter, 34, of Wyoming was driving a 2010 Dodge minivan when she dropped off an 11-year-old girl shortly before 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at Illinois Route 180 and Knox Highway 24, then circled the intersection while yelling at the child and left, a witness told a Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
An infant was Potter’s other passenger, according to a sheriff’s-office report. Potter later was located in East Galesburg. Witnesses said Potter had celebrated her birthday in Wyoming when she got into a verbal argument with someone and left.
Potter also was charged with three counts of causing a child to be endangered. The 11-year-old and a 6-year-old girl were taken for evaluation to OSF Saint Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified. Stark County deputies also responded.
• BARTONVILLE – No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident southwest of Bartonville that involved a Hanna City man.
At 8:45 a.m. Oct. 18, Michael T. Marincic was driving a southbound 2016 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was towing a trailer in the 5400 block of S. Cameron Lane when the trailer became uncoupled from the F-150 and rolled into the northbound lane, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
The trailer struck a northbound 2015 Ford Explorer sport-utility vehicle driven by Vicki S. Cooksey of Mapleton, who said she tried to avoid a collision. The Explorer sustained minor passenger-side damage and was towed. The trailer and the pickup truck were undamaged.
• YATES CITY – A vehicle reported stolen in Yates City later was seen in Peoria, according to authorities. The 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was reported missing about 3:30 p.m. Oct. 15 from a residence in the 400 block of S. Burson St., a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report stated. A garage there also was reported broken into, and a battery from a Ford Escape parked there was missing.
A suspect from Yates City was mentioned in the report, which also stated two traffic cameras in Peoria recorded the vehicle between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Oct. 15. Damage to the garage door was estimated at $400.
• HANNA CITY – A vehicle apparently was among items stolen from a property south of Hanna City.
The incident in the 500 block of S. Pinkerton Rd. was reported shortly before 7 a.m. Oct. 15, according to a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Unredacted was the alleged theft of a red pit dirt bicycle. The victim was a 42-year-old Hanna City man.
• TRIVOLI – Someone vandalized equipment at a farm south of Trivoli, according to authorities.
A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was summoned shortly after 5:15 p.m. Oct. 13 to the 16400 block of W. Smithville Rd. There the deputy found a Volvo truck and a Case combine parked in a cornfield, each vehicle with two punctured tires.
Security video from a nearby residence showed nothing suspicious, according to a sheriff’s-office report.
• PRINCEVILLE – A Princeville man was accused of aggravated domestic battery in connection with an incident at a local residence.
Hunter D. Burke, 20, was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. Oct. 13 in the 600 block of S. Walnut Ave., according to a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. He was implicated about one hour earlier regarding the incident in the 200 block of W. Douglas St.
The victim was a 21-year-old Princeville woman, the report stated.
• HANNA CITY – A Hanna City man was arrested following an apparent domestic dispute.
Austin S. Garcia, 36, was transported to the Peoria County Jail following the incident, which happened shortly before 5 p.m. Oct. 10 in the 500 block of S. Pinkerton Rd. He was charged with domestic battery, according to a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
The victim was a 14-year-old Hanna City girl. A 35-year-old Hanna City woman was a witness. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified.
• DUNLAP – Shortly before 7:45 p.m. Oct. 17, Kelly T. Shaugnessey of Mapleton was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer sport-utility vehicle east in the 7000 block of W. Brimfield-Jubilee Rd. west of Dunlap when the vehicle struck a black cow that was crossing the road. Shaughnessey declined medical treatment, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained damage but was drivable. The cow owner recovered his uninjured animal.
• NORWOOD – Shortly after 6 p.m. Oct. 17, Tonya R. Kruise of Farmington was driving a westbound 2108 Subaru WRX in the 8900 block of W. Farmington Rd. west of Norwood when the vehicle struck a deer. Kruise did not need medical treatment, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The vehicle sustained major front-end damage and was towed.
• TRIVOLI – Jacob A. Duhs, 38, of Trivoli was arrested shortly before 1:15 p.m. Oct. 29 and was held for another law-enforcement agency, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• ELMWOOD – Chief Aaron Bean reported the following Elmwood Police Department activity for October: one arrest, nine traffic stops, 10 warnings, 10 reports and two notices to appear in court.
• FARMINGTON – Chief Chris Darsham reported the following Farmington Police Department activity for October: 210 business checks, 3,270 building checks, four crashes, four property crimes, 13 traffic tickets issued, 38 ordinance violations, two crimes against people, 17 miscellaneous, 46 traffic stops, 14 arrests, 28 reports, 305 total calls and 21 calls to assist other departments.
