Police reports
• HANNA CITY – No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle crash at the western edge of Hanna City.
Jessica K. Neel of Hanna City was driving a 2024 Chevrolet sport-utility vehicle west on Illinois Route 116 about 6 p.m. Nov. 8 when at McAllister Road it struck a 2019 GMC truck, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. Kyle D. Stenger of Elmwood was the other driver.
Stenger said he was stopped on southbound McAllister Road at the intersection and did not see Neel’s vehicle approaching as he was turning east onto Route 116. First responders checked both drivers and Neel’s passenger, a child.
Both vehicles were towed. Stenger’s vehicle sustained driver’s-side door damage, and Neel’s vehicle sustained substantial front-end damage.
• BRIMFIELD – A Brimfield-area woman said someone stole a package from her mail. The theft was reported about 5 p.m. Nov. 6 in the 17500 block of W. Martin Rd., according to a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The package was valued at $50. The woman said she spoke with neighbors, all of whom stated they did not receive a package recently.
• EDWARDS – An Edwards man reported no injuries after his vehicle struck a deer, then struck an old utility pole.
Shortly after 12:45 p.m. Nov. 6, Steven A. Dearing was driving a westbound 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck on Illinois Route 8 west of Heinz Lane when the vehicle struck the deer. Per a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report, the deer hit the front of the truck, then bounced off the windshield.
Dearing said the damaged windshield obstructed his view, and he drove into a ditch. The pickup truck stopped shortly after it struck the pole, which wasn’t connected to electrical wires. The vehicle sustained disabling front-end damage.
• KICKAPOO – No injuries were reported as the result of a two-vehicle accident in Kickapoo.
Elizabeth C. Agans of Galesburg was behind the wheel of a United States Postal Service mail truck that was stopped at noon Nov. 4 on northbound Dwyer Street at U.S. Route 150. As Agans attempted to turn west on Route 150, her vehicle collided with an eastbound 2024 Jeep Wrangler.
Linda J. Tharp of Brimfield was the other driver, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. Agans said she didn’t see Tharp’s vehicle approaching. The mail truck sustained damage to its front bumper and passenger-side front-tire area and was towed.
Tharp drove away her vehicle, which sustained damage to the passenger side, but later had it towed because its alignment was off.
• ELMWOOD – A Camp Grove man received multiple traffic citations following a single-vehicle wreck north of Elmwood.
About 6:15 a.m. Nov. 4, 25-year-old Devan Roach was driving a southbound Buick Enclave on Illinois Route 78 south of Shissler Road when the vehicle went off the pavement and struck a tree.
Roach reported no injuries, according to the Illinois State Police. He was cited for driving too fast for conditions and for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
• EDWARDS – A boat an Edwards man was towing was damaged when another vehicle crashed into the trailer.
Daniel T. Lattimore was backing the trailer, attached to a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, into a driveway at about 5:15 p.m. Nov. 3 in the 6400 block of N. Koerner Rd. when a northbound 2024 Honda sport-utility vehicle struck it, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
The other driver was Jessica M. Aitken of East Peoria. She said she didn’t see the trailer because of weather conditions and the Silverado headlights. Aitken complained about chest pain but said she and her passenger would seek medical treatment.
Lattimore reported no injuries. His vehicle was unscathed, but the trailer and boat sustained unspecified damage and were towed. The Honda sustained front-end damage.
• HANNA CITY – Vandals apparently spray-painted graffiti on the Hanna City Sportsman’s Club building, authorities stated.
The incident at 103 S. Main St. was reported at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 3, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The unintelligible graffiti was painted in black on the back of the building and on an electrical box. The incident appeared to have happened sometime over the previous couple of days.
• DUNLAP – Akron-Princeville and Brimfield firefighters were among those who responded to a cornfield blaze south of Dunlap that featured flames 30 feet high, according to authorities.
The fire at Illinois Route 91 and Grange Hall Road was reported about 4 p.m. Oct. 30, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. No injuries were reported, and no property was damaged.
Dunlap and Limestone firefighters also responded, as did an ambulance crew.
• GILSON – A Williamsfield-area man reported two tractor-fork attachments he owns were stolen.
The forks were missing from a Kubota tractor parked at a property in the 1400 block of Knox Road 1250 North near Gilson. The 67-year-old owner said he conducted an auction there Oct. 24 and left behind his tractor. When he returned Oct. 27, the forks were gone, a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The forks were valued at $1,800.
• TRIVOLI – Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Nov. 3, Theresa Matarelli of Peoria was driving an eastbound 2013 Toyota van in the 13200 block of Illinois Route 116 east of Trivoli when the vehicle struck a deer. Matarelli was uninjured, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The front driver’s side of the vehicle was damaged.
• EDELSTEIN – Troy L. Bowen, 54, of Edelstein was arrested shortly after 2 p.m. Nov. 7 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• GALESBURG – These were among calls to which the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded between Oct. 27-Nov. 2: custody dispute, Yates City; gas leak, Dahinda; domestic dispute, Dahinda; two burglar alarms, Dahinda; open door, Williamsfield.
