• ELMORE – No injuries were reported following a fire that destroyed a house in Elmore.
The blaze at 22025 N. Main St. began shortly before 10:45 p.m. Feb. 3, according to Ty Landon, chief of the Williamsfield Fire Protection District. The wood-frame, one-story house was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived.

Both occupants, a man and a woman, evacuated by then. Also safe were two dogs and two goats. Landon indicated a wood burner inside the house might have been the fire source.

The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal was notified. Firefighters from the Akron-Princeville, Brimfield, Elba-Salem, Elmwood and Victoria-Copley departments responded. So did public-works personnel from Millbrook Township and Williamsfield.

• PEORIA – A Brimfield man was accused of multiple vehicular crimes, including drunken driving, following a traffic stop in Peoria.

An Illinois State Police trooper saw a black GMC pickup truck moving erratically shortly before 9:30 p.m. Feb. 5 on westbound Interstate 74 near mile marker 91. The driver was 38-year-old David A. Waldbeeser, according to the State Police.

Waldbeeser was transported to the Peoria County Jail. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, speeding at least 35 mph over the limit, improper lane use, changing lanes without a signal and driving with a license expired more than one year.

• PEORIA – A Hanna City man was arrested at the Peoria County Courthouse regarding a 2021 accusation of indirect civil contempt.

A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy took Ronald R. Roberts, 40, into custody at 2 p.m. Feb. 4, according to a report. Bond in Roberts’ case was $7,950. Roberts was transported to the Peoria County Jail.

• KICKAPOO – An incident at a Kickapoo-area service station led to the arrest of two men.
Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputies were summoned shortly before 8:15 a.m. Feb. 4 to the Shell station at 7116 N. Kickapoo-Edwards Rd. One of the men was accused of stealing a cellphone charger, according to heavily redacted sheriff’s-office reports.

Matthew A. Dempsey, 47, of Peoria Heights was accused of possession of less than 15 grams of methamphetamine. He also was wanted for failure to appear in court on a criminal-damage-to-property charge. Steven C. Cagle, 40, of Peoria was wanted for failure to appear on a theft charge.

The report indicated an ambulance transported one of the men to Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

• OAK HILL – A Brimfield man was arrested regarding a domestic-battery allegation. Tyler M. Cassidy, 35, was taken into custody shortly after 12:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and transported to the Peoria County Jail. The incident happened about 1 p.m. the previous day at a residence in the 12700 block of W. Broad St. in Oak Hill, according to Peoria County Sheriff’s Office reports.

A 28-year-old Brimfield woman was the apparent victim.

• PEORIA – A traffic stop in Peoria resulted in a Farmington-area man’s arrest on an illegal-drugs charge. Jason R. Becker, 51, was a passenger in a vehicle an Illinois State Police trooper stopped for a taillight violation shortly after 6:15 p.m. Jan. 29 near University Street and McClure Avenue. An investigation ensued.

Becker was accused of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.

• TRIVOLI – A vehicle toppled a power pole and felled power lines south of Trivoli, according to authorities.

The accident at McDonald and Trivoli roads was reported at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 27. The pole and wires were on the pavement when a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived, according to a report. The pole was snapped at its base. Tire tracks in the snow led from the roadway, over the pole and into a field.

A nearby resident said he heard a crash about 9:15 p.m. Jan. 26 and saw an older-model pickup truck in the field. The resident lost electrical power, the report stated.
The vehicle was not located immediately.

• WILLIAMSFIELD – Shortly before 4:45 p.m. Jan. 18, Cynthia L. Eisenbarth, 56, of Oak Run was driving a 2018 Mazda3 in the 2300 block of Knox Highway 11 southeast of Williamsfield when the vehicle struck a deer. Neither Eisenbarth nor her three passengers – an 11-year-old boy and 4- and 3-year-old girls, all from Hanna City – appeared to be injured, a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The vehicle was towed.

• OAK RUN – Shortly after 5 p.m. Jan. 18, Chad M. Fleming, 52, of Peoria was driving a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder sport-utility vehicle on U.S. Route 150 at Knox Highway 12 south of Oak Run when the vehicle struck a deer. Fleming appeared to be uninjured, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained damage but was drivable.

• HANNA CITY – Jason L. Corbett, 45, was arrested shortly before 6:40 p.m. Jan. 29 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

• ELMWOOD – Chief Aaron Bean reported the following Elmwood Police Department activity for January: 11 traffic stops, 13 warnings, 12 reports and one notice to appear.

• FARMINGTON – Chief Chris Darsham reported the following Farmington Police Department activity for January: 334 business checks, 2,935 building checks, two crashes handled, two property crimes, four traffic tickets, one ordinance violation, three crimes against people, two miscellaneous, 17 traffic stops, four arrests made, nine reports completed, 257 total calls and seven calls to assist other police departments.
