• PRINCEVILLE – A Princeville woman was accused of drunken driving following a traffic stop.
Dawn E. Johnson Taylor, 62, was behind the wheel of a northbound 1997 Ford Crown Victoria that was weaving shortly before 6:30 p.m. May 7 in the 19200 block of N. Princeville-Jubilee Rd., according to a redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

Johnson Taylor was arrested shortly after 6:45 p.m. in the 400 block of W. Evans St. in Princeville. She was charged with improper lane use and two counts of driving under the influence. Johnson Taylor was transported to the Peoria County Jail. The vehicle was towed.

• HANNA CITY – A helicopter flew a Hanna City-area woman to the burn unit of a Springfield hospital after she was injured in a kitchen accident.

The accident happened about 3:15 p.m. May 7 at a residence in the 2400 block of S. Hanna City-Glasford Rd., according to a redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The victim said she was boiling eggs in a microwave oven when they blew up and hit her in the face.

An ambulance arrived, but someone locked the keys in it, so a second ambulance was dispatched. By then, the helicopter arrived for the trip to Springfield Memorial Hospital. Logan-Trivoli firefighters also responded.

• PRINCEVILLE – Out-of-control fire damaged a building on a property south of Princeville.
First responders were summoned about 5:45 p.m. May 5 to the 10800 block of W. Legion Hall Rd. The property owner, a 49-year-old Princeville man, said he was dismantling the empty building and burning its pieces in a pit he dug in the ground, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

After about an hour, the owner realized what remained of the building caught fire on its north side, which faced the burn pit. Akron-Princeville, Brimfield, Dunlap and Peoria Heights firefighters responded, as did Advanced Medical Transport and Ameren Illinois.

The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal was expected to investigate.

• ELMWOOD – An Elmwood girl reported no injuries after the vehicle she was driving struck one that was parked.

The accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. May 5 at Southgate and Oak drives, according to an Elmwood police report. The girl was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze east on Southgate Drive when it hit a 2012 Chevrolet Impala owned by Matthew W. Anderson of Avon.

Per the report, the girl said she was leaning over to pick up a fallen water bottle when the accident happened. Elmwood firefighters and BYE Ambulance Service responded. More than $1,500 in damage was reported.

• MAPLETON – A Trivoli girl and her passenger reported no injuries following a two-vehicle accident in a Mapleton parking lot.

The teenager was pulling a 2020 BMW X3 out of a parking space at 5:15 p.m. May 4 at Butler Haynes Park when the vehicle struck an adjacent 2023 Ford Expedition, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

Patricia A. Field owns the other vehicle; her hometown was not noted in the report. Field said she was standing behind her vehicle waiting for the BMW to back out when she noticed the other driver was turning too soon. The BMW struck the Expedition’s rear driver’s-side quarter panel.

The teenager’s passenger was her mother. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were drivable.

• LAURA – No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle wreck east of Laura.
At 9:45 a.m. May 4, Emmy Arthur of Princeville was driving a 2014 Chrysler Town & Country minivan west on Illinois Route 90 near Brimfield Road when the front passenger-side wheel sheared off the vehicle, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.

The vehicle left the pavement and came to rest in a ditch. Arthur had three passengers, two males and a female. The vehicle sustained damage to its front passenger-side wheel well and door and was towed.

• TRIVOLI – A Farmington woman declined medical treatment following a one-vehicle wreck west of Trivoli.
Annika L. Anderson was driving a westbound 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck shortly before 4:30 a.m. May 4 in the 19600 block of Illinois Route 116 when she swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

The vehicle left the pavement, landed in a north-side ditch and jumped a driveway before it stopped. Anderson was able to leave the vehicle, which was towed after it sustained extensive damage.

• WEST PEORIA – A Hanna City boy avoided injury from a two-vehicle crash in West Peoria.
The accident happened about 9 p.m. May 2 in front of Casey’s, 2114 W. Farmington Rd. The boy was behind the wheel of a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck and was turning left onto Farmington Road when the vehicle struck an eastbound 2011 Nissan Rogue, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

Jimenez P. Maciel of Peoria was the other driver. His vehicle overturned and landed upright, a witness stated. An ambulance transported Maciel to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria as a precaution. His vehicle sustained major damage and was towed.

The boy said he didn’t see Maciel’s vehicle; he was looking at his cellphone as he was turning. His vehicle sustained minor damage. The boy was cited for using an electronic communication device while driving and for failure to reduce speed.

• HANNA CITY – A Hanna City-area man apparently was scammed out of $37,000 through social media.
The resident of the 900 block of N. Greengold Rd. reported the theft about 8:30 a.m. May 2, a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The 54-year-old victim was attempting to purchase a piece of heavy equipment on Facebook Marketplace.

No suspect information was available.

• GLASFORD – No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle wreck north of Glasford that involved a Hanna City man.

Donald G. Hidden was driving a southbound Buick Estate Wagon about 1:30 p.m. April 27 on Hanna City-Glasford Road at Lancaster Road when his vehicle struck a 2014 Ford SUV driven by Sandra L. Sweet of Glasford, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

Sweet was westbound on Lancaster Road when she stopped at the intersection before she turned right. She turned too far into the southbound lane, where the front of her vehicle hit the driver’s side of Hidden’s. Sweet said she didn’t see the other vehicle.

• HANNA CITY – Shortly after 10:45 p.m. May 5, Ellen M. Huddleston of Canton was driving a 2021 Nissan sport-utility vehicle east in the 13200 block of Illinois Route 116 west of Hanna City when the vehicle struck a deer that emerged from the north. Huddleston declined medical treatment, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The vehicle was towed. The impact killed the deer.

• MONICA – Shortly after 11:30 p.m. April 30, Dean J. Shaw of Kewanee was driving a 2007 Saturn Vue sport-utility vehicle east in the 17000 block of Illinois Route 90 west of Monica when the vehicle struck a deer in the roadway. Shaw appeared to escape injury, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained disabling front-end damage and was to be towed.

• YATES CITY – Chief Randy Benson reported the following Yates City Police Department activity for April: one arrest, 22 reports, seven traffic stops, two citations and seven warnings.

• GALESBURG – These were among calls to which the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded between May 4-10: order-of-protection violation, Williamsfield; fire, Yates City; domestic disturbance, Williamsfield.
