• BARTONVILLE – A single-vehicle accident west of Bartonville led to a hospital visit for a Hanna City woman.
At 5:15 p.m. June 6, Heather M. Williams was driving a westbound 2013 Dodge van that swerved to miss an oncoming 2106 Ford sport-utility vehicle in the 8700 block of W. Lancaster Rd., according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
The other driver was Tyler B. DeSantis of Washington, who said he was not paying attention and drifted across the center line. Williams overcorrected, and her vehicle landed in a south-side ditch. Williams complained about head and neck pain. An ambulance transported her to Carle Health Pekin Hospital.
Williams’ vehicle was towed. DeSantis drove away after he said he didn’t need medical attention.
• PEORIA – A Hanna City man was arrested nine days after he was implicated in a domestic-battery incident in Peoria.
According to a Peoria Police Department report, an officer stopped Adama Diakite, 22, for unspecified reasons as he was driving about 9 p.m. June 4 in the 900 block of E. Nebraska Ave. Diakite was wanted regarding an incident that happened about 3:30 p.m. May 26 in the 6800 block of N. Terra Vista Drive.
Diakite was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
• KICKAPOO – A Brimfield woman sustained a minor injury from a single-vehicle wreck. Paula L. Sydow was driving an eastbound 2011 Mercedes-Benz shortly before 9 a.m. June 4 in the 11500 block of W. Dubois Rd. when she attempted to grab a tissue. As she did, the vehicle veered off the road to the south and struck a power pole, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
The report did not specify Sydow’s injury. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed.
• ELMWOOD – An incident at an Elmwood residence resulted in a domestic-battery accusation against a local woman.
Danielle N. Minton, 50, was arrested following the incident, which happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. June 4 in the 300 block of E. Ash St., according to a redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The victim was a 49-year-old Elmwood man. Minton was transported to Peoria County Jail. She received a notice to appear in Peoria County Circuit Court.
• PEORIA – A Yates City man against whom there were three active warrants was arrested at the Peoria County Courthouse.
A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was told about the warrants against Kevin C. Walters, 31, who was in a courtroom shortly before 1:45 p.m. June 3. A sheriff’s-office report did not state why Walters was in the courthouse.
Warrants were for failure to appear in court, according to Peoria County Jail records. Charges were from 2018 and included driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, improper lane use, failure to reduce speed and driving on a sidewalk. Walters was transported to the jail and was to serve at least one day.
• OAK RUN – Law-enforcement authorities found a door ajar at an Oak Run business after a burglar alarm sounded.
Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies were summoned about 11:45 p.m. June 2 to Oak Run General Store, 1470 Knox Road 1725 North. An employee said an alarm service notified him the back door on the west side of the building was opened, then secured, then opened again.
A deputy noticed the door was open. A K-9 search revealed nothing amiss.
• FARMINGTON – A single-vehicle accident in Farmington resulted in a damaged fire hydrant and a downed light pole.
The wreck happened about 5 a.m. June 1 at Fort and Main streets, according to a Farmington police report. Aunna R. Ball, 25, of Farmington was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox west on Fort Street when she fell asleep, she told police.
A field-sobriety check on Ball was negative. The light pole was sheared at its base. An officer noticed several tire marks on the curb. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed. Ball appeared uninjured, the report stated. She was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
• ST. AUGUSTINE – A Brimfield-area man who just regained his driver’s license was driving 27 mph over the speed limit in southwestern Knox County, according to authorities. Caleb J. Schlipf, 19, was behind the wheel of an eastbound 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee a Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped about 6:45 p.m. May 31 on Illinois Route 116 at Illinois Route 41. Schlipf was driving 82 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Schlipf admitted to speeding. He said his license had been suspended because of speeding tickets in Iowa.
• FARMINGTON – A Farmington man received at least one citation following a traffic stop. A Fulton County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over Joseph M. France about 5:45 p.m. May 30 on Illinois Route 78 near Park Road. The sheriff’s-office report did not specify his offense and did not provide more information.
• ELMWOOD – No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle crash in the parking lot of an Elmwood business.
Shortly before 8 a.m. May 30, Ricky T. Hutchison, 66, of Elmwood was backing a 2011 Ford F-350 pickup truck toward the gasoline pumps at Casey’s, 811 W. Main St., when his vehicle struck a parked 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer owned by Haylie N. Bishop, 26, of Elmwood, according to a police report.
Hutchison said Bishop was sounding her vehicle’s horn to alert him, but he couldn’t hear it.
• PRINCEVILLE – A two-vehicle crash south of Princeville resulted in no apparent injuries. James A. Sisco of Pekin was driving a westbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck shortly before 1:45 p.m. May 29 on Parks School Road at Evans Mill Road when he stopped and backed up to pull into a driveway, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. He said he saw no other vehicles.
As Sisco was backing, his vehicle struck a 2021 Toyota 4Runner that was slowing behind it. The 4Runner driver was Thomas A. Mastin of Maquon. He said he honked the vehicle’s horn but couldn’t avoid the collision. Sisco said he heard the honking but couldn’t stop in time.
Both vehicles were drivable after they sustained bumper damage.
• BRIMFIELD – A vehicle was reported burglarized at a Brimfield-area business. The burglary at 13625 N. Bell School Rd. was reported shortly before 6:15 p.m. May 26. The make and model of the vehicle was redacted from a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. So was a summary ofthe case.
A 49-year-old Annawan man was the victim. Criminal damage to property also was alleged. The address listed on the report regarding the incident is for Akron Services Inc., but an adjacent business, Crossroad Truck Service, was specified.
• HANNA CITY – Shortly after 6:15 a.m. June 3, Timothy J. Lister of Fairview was driving an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in the 10700 block of Illinois Route 116 near Hanna City when the vehicle struck a deer. Lister complained about head and hand pain but declined medical transport, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle was towed.
