Police reports
• FARMINGTON – A Farmington woman was accused of stealing money from and manipulating employee hours at her employer, a local fast-food restaurant.
Melody L. Davenport, 47, was questioned regarding the disappearance of $1,170.97 from Subway, 17 E. Fort St., according to a Farmington Police Department report released recently. The money was reported missing from a restaurant safe over three incidents in April and May.
Davenport, who was the store manager before she was fired, admitted to $450.88 in time-clock adjustments that benefited herself and another Subway employee. As of earlier this month, that employee had not been formally charged with a crime.
According to the report, Davenport denied taking money from the safe. She was supposed to be the only one to have the combination. The time-clock money was deducted from Davenport’s final paycheck.
Davenport pleaded not guilty July 1 in Fulton County Circuit Court to theft and requested a jury trial. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 2.
• PRINCEVILLE – A vehicle that apparently was stolen from a Princeville business on June 23 has been recovered.
The theft of a truck from German-Bliss Equipment Inc., 624 W. Spring St., was reported shortly after 8 a.m. June 23, according to a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The victim was from Laura.
It wasn’t clear if the stolen vehicle was a personal one or company owned. According to a Facebook post on July 3, the truck has been recovered.
• TRIVOLI – No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision east of Trivoli. Lindsay M. Sharum of Trivoli was driving an eastbound 2014 Lexus RX shortly before 4:30 p.m. June 21 in the 17000 block of Illinois Route 116 when the vehicle drifted into the westbound lane and clipped an oncoming 2023 GMC Sierra, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Aaron W. Downey of Avon was the other driver. Sharum said she wasn’t paying attention. Both vehicles’ driver’s-side mirrors were damaged, but neither vehicle was towed.
• HANNA CITY – A Peoria woman said she was uninjured following a single-vehicle wreck south of Hanna City.
Shortly before noon June 21, Angela M. Lewis was driving a U.S. Postal Service vehicle east in the 14000 block of W. Riekena Rd. when she swerved onto the shoulder to avoid hitting a deer that emerged from the south, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
The vehicle slid down an embankment and rolled onto its left side. It was damaged extensively and towed. Logan-Trivoli firefighters responded.
• HANNA CITY – Several items, including firearms, were reported missing from a Hanna City-area property.
A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched shortly before 8 a.m. June 21 to the 11100 block of W. Smithville Rd. A motor vehicle was reported stolen, according to a heavily redacted report from the sheriff’s office.
Suspect information was unavailable regarding the apparent burglary. A rifle, a handgun, tools and other property were stolen, the report indicated.
• KICKAPOO – A two-vehicle accident in Kickapoo resulted in no apparent injuries.
Shortly before 6 p.m. June 20, Chezney L. O’Connell of Edwards was backing a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan into a parking space on Jackson Street and struck a 2001 Ford Taurus that was parked behind her vehicle, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
The other driver was watching a baseball game and apparently was not in the vehicle, although he heard the accident. O’Connell had three passengers, two males and a female. The minivan wasn’t damaged. The Taurus sustained a loose passenger-side headlight and minor damage to its front license plate.
• OAK RUN – A 4-year-old Galesburg boy required a hospital visit after a dog bit him in the face at an Oak Run-area residence.
The boy was playing with the dog, an Italian mastiff, about 11:30 a.m. June 15 in the 1400 block of Knox Road 1550 North. According to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report, the boy sustained a blackened right eye and deep lacerations under the eye and on his left cheek.
An ambulance transported the boy to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. The dog was to be examined, then quarantined for 10 days.
• GALVA – A Williamsfield man was accused of multiple vehicular crimes following a traffic stop in Galva.
Paul Story, 74, was cited for improper use of registration, operating a vehicle which registration suspended for lack of insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. Galva police stopped him June 10 at Commercial and Wiley streets, according to a report.
Story received a notice to appear July 14 in Henry County Circuit Court in Cambridge.
• OAK RUN – A cellphone valued at $1,300 was reported stolen from an Oak Run campground.
About 8:30 p.m. June 6, an 11-year-old Edelstein-area girl put the black iPhone 16 Plus on a bench at the playground at Oak Run Campers Village, 1821 Knox Highway 7. When she returned, the phone was missing, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report. A search was futile.
The child’s mother said she was unable to track the phone immediately because it had been turned off, but about a week later it was reported pinging from Scott County, Iowa. Scott County Sheriff’s Office deputies were alerted.
• TRIVOLI – At 8:45 p.m. June 18, Julie A. Spence of Canton was driving a 2013 Kia Soul on Cramer Road south of Trivoli when the vehicle struck a deer. Spence’s condition was not noted in a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained damage to its front driver’s-side bumper, grille and door.
• EDWARDS – At 3:30 a.m. June 17, a Peoria Heights boy was driving an eastbound 2009 Honda in the 6800 block of Illinois Route 8 near Edwards when the vehicle struck a deer. The driver declined medical attention, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained damage to its entire front end, including a pushed-up hood that exposed the entire engine compartment, and was towed.
• BRIMFIELD – Shortly before 4:45 a.m. June 16, Christine A. Gilmore of Brimfield was driving an eastbound 2025 Kia Sorento in the 15000 block of W. Brimfield-Jubilee Rd. when the vehicle struck a deer. Gilmore said she was uninjured, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The vehicle sustained front driver’s-side quarter-panel and headlight damage but was drivable.
• ELMWOOD – Tekayla R. Wilkins-Fenderson, 26, of Elmwood was arrested shortly after 11:15 a.m. June 24 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• GALESBURG – These were among calls to which the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded between June 15-21: road hazard, Williamsfield; threats, Yates City; harassment, Yates City; DOA, Dahinda.
