• DAHINDA – A Gilson man was killed in a two-vehicle crash south of Dahinda.
The accident happened shortly before 4 p.m. Aug. 12 in the 1600 block of U.S. Route 150, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. The victim was 75-year-old Rex Gibbs, whom the Knox County Coroner’s Office pronounced dead at the scene. He died of blunt-force trauma, according to Coroner Jacque Dare.
Gibbs was aboard a southbound Kubota side-by-side that apparently crossed the road in front of an eastbound 2013 Chrysler sedan. The other driver was a 24-year-old Galesburg man the sheriff’s office did not identify by name. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.
Potential charges depended upon the results of the investigation. Route 150 was closed in both directions for almost three hours, according to WGIL-AM in Galesburg. Among public-safety agencies called to the scene were Williamsfield firefighters and Oak Run First Responders.
• FARMINGTON – Police subdued a Farmington man at gunpoint following a domestic dispute at his residence.
Jayden E. Dressler, 24, was arrested in connection with the incident, which was reported shortly before 9 a.m. July 31 in the 100 block of W. Fort St. A 25-year-old pregnant woman called authorities twice and said she did not feel safe inside the residence with Dressler, a Farmington police report stated.
A check revealed Dressler had two outstanding warrants and was considered armed and dangerous. Officers surrounded the residence. At about 10:30 a.m., Dressler exited the back door. An officer stepped from behind a tree with his gun drawn and ordered Dressler to the ground, according to the report.
In addition to the warrants, Dressler was accused of unlawful restraint and interference with emergency communication. He was transported to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
• BRIMFIELD – An apparent domestic dispute in a vehicle north of Brimfield led to the arrests of two people from Toulon.
A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched shortly after 2 p.m. Aug. 2 to the 13900 block of N. Maher Rd., according to a heavily redacted report. Taken into custody were Donna J. Bantz, 37, and Thomas R. Stoecker, 29.
Both suspects were accused of domestic battery and transported to the Peoria County Jail. Brimfield firefighters and BYE Ambulance Service also responded.
• FARMINGTON – A Canton motorcyclist stopped near Farmington for a traffic violation was wanted for violating an order of protection.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Aug. 1, 46-year-old Lucas T. Curran was aboard a 1992 Harley-Davidson headed north on Main Street when a Farmington police officer noticed the motorcycle’s rear taillight wasn’t illuminated. The officer pulled over the motorcycle on Illinois Route 116 near Holdridge Road.
A check revealed Curran had an outstanding Fulton County warrant, according to a police report. He received a notice to appear in Fulton County Circuit Court in Lewistown. Curran also received a warning regarding the taillight.
• PRINCEVILLE – Tools were reported stolen from an outbuilding on a property west of Princeville.
The apparent burglary in the 13400 block of W. Mendell Rd. was reported shortly after 8:30 a.m. Aug. 1, a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. Criminal damage to property also was cited, apparently to a door.
A 57-year-old Princeville-area man was the apparent victim. No suspect information was available.
• FARMINGTON – Minor injuries to two people were reported after a vehicle crashed into a house in Farmington.
The accident happened about 8:30 a.m. Aug. 1, according to the Farmington Community Fire Protection District. A sport-utility vehicle headed east on Barlow Road missed the curve onto Main Street and hit the front porch of the house, which was on the east side of that thoroughfare.
Medical personnel treated the two occupants of the SUV, an adult and a juvenile. Nobody inside the house reported injuries.
• PRINCEVILLE – A Princeville man was arrested in connection with a domestic dispute at a local residence.
Jeremy J. Schrader, 48, was transported to the Peoria County Jail following the incident, which happened about 9:30 p.m. July 28 in the 200 block of E. North St., according to a heavily redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
A deputy was summoned in response to a report about someone throwing food at someone else. The victim was a 48-year-old Princeville woman, and a 16-year-old boy was a witness. Schrader was accused of domestic battery.
• EDELSTEIN – No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle crash south of Edelstein.
Brooklyn P. Hughes of Marseilles was driving a northbound 2012 Kia Sorento shortly after 11 a.m. July 25 in the 17000 block of Illinois Route 40 when the vehicle rear-ended a 2017 Jeep Renegade driven by Kimmie A. Parmenter of Edelstein, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
Each vehicle came to rest between 50 and 70 feet from the east edge of the pavement. Hughes said she had no recollection of the accident. She was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed.
• SOUTH ROME – A two-vehicle wreck in South Rome that involved a Trivoli man resulted in no reported injuries.
Hunter J. Schmitt was driving a westbound 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck shortly after 8:45 a.m. July 24 on Cedar Hills Drive. As Schmitt was turning left at Caroline Street, the vehicle collided with an eastbound 2013 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, per a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
A male juvenile from Dunlap was the other driver. Schmitt said another vehicle obstructed his view. The pickup truck sustained driver’s-side front-end damage but was drivable. The minivan also was drivable.
• FARMINGTON – A Hanna City boy refused medical treatment following a single-vehicle wreck southeast of Farmington.
The juvenile was driving a northbound 2013 Ford Escape shortly before 6 a.m. July 22 on Downs School Road near Moul Road when his cellphone fell between a seat and the center console, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
When he reached for the phone, he lost control of the vehicle. It left the pavement to the east, struck a power pole and traveled north in a ditch before it stopped. The power pole was snapped at its base. The vehicle sustained right-side damage.
• PRINCEVILLE – Ray E. Delbridge, 51, of Princeville was arrested at 2 p.m. Aug. 6 and was being held for another law-enforcement agency, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• PRINCEVILLE – Chase C. Hartley, 27, of Princeville was arrested shortly after 5 a.m. Aug. 3 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• BRIMFIELD – Braden D. Wagner, 28, of Brimfield was arrested shortly before 11:45 a.m. Aug. 1 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
• WEST PEORIA – Shortly after 4 a.m. July 31, Davey E. Test of Yates City was driving a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck south in the 1400 block of N. Kickapoo Creek Rd. near West Peoria when the vehicle struck a deer. A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report did not state if Test was injured. The vehicle sustained extensive front passenger-side damage and was towed.
• ELMWOOD – Chief Aaron Bean reported the following Elmwood Police Department activity for July: one arrest, 11 traffic stops, 16 warnings, 21 reports and one notice to appear in court.
• FARMINGTON – Chief Chris Darsham reported the following Farmington Police Department activity for July: 290 business checks, 3,210 building checks, three crashes handled, two property crimes, eight traffic tickets, eight ordinance violations, four crimes against people, seven miscellaneous, 23 traffic stops, four arrests, 16 reports completed, 288 total calls and 18 calls to assist other departments.
