• WILLIAMSFIELD – A Williamsfield-area man who told authorities he was having a mental- health breakdown was wanted regarding a domestic-battery case.
Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies were summoned about 8:30 p.m. Feb. 3 to a residence in the 2000 block of Knox Road 2150 East. There they found Dallas R. Hulse, 27. Hulse told officers he was God, asked for cocaine and said he saw a pterodactyl flying around one of their heads, according to a report.
A check revealed Hulse had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court. A deputy transported Hulse to OSF Saint Mary Medical Center in Galesburg for a mental-health evaluation. He then was transported to the Knox County Jail in Galesburg.
• FARMINGTON – A Farmington man accused of attempting to steal alcohol from a local convenience store also was wanted for driving with a suspended license.
An employee at Casey’s, 84 S. Main St., said 43-year-old David L. Wade Jr. walked into the store about 3:30 p.m. Feb. 6, grabbed a 10-pack of 50-milliliter bottles of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky and brought in into a restroom, a Farmington police report stated.
Wade did not have the bottles when he emerged from the restroom and no booze was found inside, per the report. An officer visited Wade the next day at his residence, where he said he placed the bottles on the floor because his child needed to use the restroom. Wade did not retrieve the alcohol, he said.
The officer’s investigation revealed Wade had an outstanding Fulton County warrant for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of driving with a suspended license. Wade said he was unable to post $1,000 bond. He was arrested and transported to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
Wade also was cited for taking merchandise and not intending to pay for it. He received a notice to appear in Fulton County Circuit Court and was barred from Casey’s.
• EDWARDS – Someone drove a vehicle into a utility pole south of Edwards and snapped it, according to authorities. A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched about 12:15 a.m. Feb. 15 to the 3800 block of N. Taylor Rd. regarding downed powerlines on the pavement.
The deputy noted tire tracks leading to the broken pole, but no vehicle was located and no clues were apparent, according to a report.
Damage to the pole was estimated at $2,000. Ameren Illinois deactivated and cleared the powerlines.
• YATES CITY – No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle accident at the west edge of Yates City.
Grace N. Bach, 22, of Elmwood was driving an eastbound 2015 Nissan Altima shortly after 9:30 a.m. Feb. 12 on Illinois Route 8 when she lost control of the vehicle on a curve. The vehicle slid off the snow-covered pavement and struck a yellow road sign, a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
The vehicle was drivable but sustained moderate damage to its passenger-side rear door and passenger-side rear-tire area. Bach was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
• OAK RUN – A driver from Peoria refused medical treatment following a rollover wreck south of Oak Run.
Shortly before 8:15 p.m. Feb. 11, 61-year-old Bryan S. Calhoun was behind the wheel of a 1995 BMW 325 headed south on Knox Highway 12 near Storage Building Road when the vehicle left the pavement, entered a ditch and rolled multiple times, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report.
Calhoun said he looked away from the road briefly before the accident, which happened on a curve. A Galesburg ambulance crew evaluated Calhoun, who was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The vehicle was totaled and towed, the report stated.
• OAK RUN – An argument about how best to empty bird-feed bags led to an Oak Run man’s arrest for domestic battery.
Ronald A. Hagerty, 75, admitted he pulled a 72-year-old woman’s arm after she entered a pickup truck during the dispute at about 3 p.m. Feb. 11 at a residence in the 1600 block of Sherwood Camp Rd. She then fell and struck her head on the ground, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report.
The woman sustained bruises near her left eye and was treated at OSF Saint Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. Hagerty was transported to the Knox County Jail in Galesburg.
• PRINCEVILLE – An Edelstein woman reported no injuries following a single-vehicle accident south of Princeville.
Alaina S. Schock was driving a westbound 2014 Acura RDX shortly after 6:30 a.m. Feb. 10 in the 10300 block of W. Akron Rd. when she did not see a stop sign at an intersection, continued through it and struck a telephone pole on the right side of the road, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
The vehicle entered a ditch, then emerged back onto the pavement. The vehicle sustained significant damage.
• FARMINGTON – A traffic stop in Farmington resulted in a Trivoli-area man being arrested for multiple violations.
Darren M. McClister, 59, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Express van when a Farmington police officer pulled it over shortly after 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6 near Illinois Route 116 and Lightfoot Road. The van taillights weren’t illuminated, according to a police report.
McClister said his driver’s license probably was suspended; a check revealed it was. It also revealed McClister was wanted in Peoria County for failure to appear in court regarding a 2022 accusation of driving with a suspended license.
In addition to charges of a suspended license, McClister also was accused of driving without lights when required. He was transported to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. His vehicle was impounded.
• WILLIAMSFIELD – A Williamsfield-area man received in the mail a bill he said he did not incur, a possible case of identity theft.
The apparent fraud was reported about 4 p.m. Feb. 5, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report. The 63-year-old victim said the bill from Verizon was for $133.18 for wireless service Dec. 28 through Jan. 27. The victim said he did not have any accounts with Verizon.
Verizon removed the charge and advised the victim to freeze his bank accounts, the report stated.
• LAURA – At 6:30 a.m. Feb. 11, Marcy L. Strand of Bishop Hill was driving a 2018 Ford Explorer south on Illinois Route 78 near Lorance Road north of Laura when the vehicle struck a deer that emerged from the east. Strand and her two passengers weren’t injured, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage but was drivable.
• YATES CITY – Chief Randy Benson reported the following Yates City Police Department activity for January: 14 reports, six traffic stops, three citations, five warnings and one ordinance violation.
