Bradford School board recognizes seniors

BRADFORD – At the May 17 Bradford School district board meeting the following high school students from Bradford were recognized: Jordan Atkins, Nicholas Bosch, Margaret Dries, Alex Guelde, Ivy Hengl, Isaac McCauley, Dustin Moody, Ryan Murphy, Kyle Peterson, Julia Sears, Whitney Schupp, McKenzie Stahl, Christopher Walker, Natalie Wall, Marli Walsh and Gage Wubben.
In addition, several seniors received awards from the Bradford Community Scholarship Fund.
Registration for all Bradford students for the 2021-22 school year is scheduled for Aug. 3 from 3-7 p.m. and Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to noon. Students’ first day of attendance will be on Aug. 18.
According to School Superintendent Chad Gripp, “The district plans to use ESSER funds to pay for summer school and technology for teachers and students.” New curriculum materials have been purchased, as well as, new furniture for the classrooms.
Gripp said the district plans to remodel both school buildings with “touchless” drinking fountains and remodel the restrooms. ESSER funds will be utilized in the future for larger projects in addition to new playground equipment, a new roof on the Junior High building, and current boiler system needs.
Tree bids were due Thursday, May 27, for the removal of eight trees and stumps on the school district’s property. Approved were bids for bread, milk, and fuel. Kohl’s will provide bread products ranging from $21.28 for a case of hamburger buns to $20.94 for a case of whole grain bread. Milk will cost 26.4 cents for a half-pint from Prairie Farms and gasoline will cost $2.99 per gallon from Bradford’s Purtscher Oil Company.
The board approved Betsy Dunehew as the fiscal year 2022 school photographer.
After a closed executive session , the board approved hiring Christie Burnett and Stephanie Bosch as paraprofessionals for the upcoming school year.
