PRINCEVILLE – The Princeville volleyball team made the most of Tuesday’s senior night match, topping Galva 25-14 and 25-5 to improve to a perfect 10-0 so far this season.
Going into the game, Princeville Coach Charissa Ouart had said, “I’m looking forward to having all the seniors play.”
She got that chance, as the Lady Princes dominated the second game. Overall, Elle Schupbach had 14 kills and 18 assists, Julianne Kielion had 2 aces and Lindsey Meisenheimer worked hard to come up with 16 digs.
Prior to a break for Easter weekend, the Lady Princes soundly defeated Farmington last Thursday 25-10, 25-6.
“We played really well from the beginning to the end,” Ouart said.
Schupbach had 8 kills, Kielion put up 16 assists and Meisenheimer had 14 digs.
Princeville took control last Wednesday against Annawan 25-13, 25-10 in a major Lincoln Trail Conference showdown.
“Last year it was between us and them for the conference, so it was a good game,” Ouart said.
Schupbach had 9 kills and 12 digs, Kielion had 14 assists and Caitlyn Thole served up 3 aces.
Princeville was to play Illini Bluffs Wednesday. They will then face off against Williamsfield Saturday at home.
Elmwood
Elmwood (5-1) beat Bushnell-Prairie City last Wednesday 25-18, 25-15.
“Overall it was a good game, we had consistency serving and we did a good job of hitting and setting,” Coach Felicia Appell said.
Annie Herman had 6 kills, Alexia Herman had 21 assists, Adeline Webster served for 3 aces and Amelia Baldoni had 2 digs.
The Lady Trojans were to play Brimfield in a rescheduled game Wednesday. Elmwood will then face West Prairie Thursday and meets Farmington Tuesday at home.
Farmington
The Lady Farmers (2-6) lost to IVC on Monday by a score of 19-25, 11-25.
Leaders for Farmington were Sydnee Barton with three kills, Justyce Jennings with eight digs and Emma Evans with five assists.
Farmington was beaten by Princeville last Thursday in two games 10-25 and 6-25.
Erica Pasley had two blocks, Jennings had five digs, Barton had one ace and Emma Vallas had four assists.
Farmington was to play Havana on the road Wednesday. The Lady Farmers return to their home court Monday against Peoria Christian.
Williamsfield
The Lady Bombers (8-3) traveled to Ridgewood on Tuesday and came home with a 25-18, 25-23 victory.
Williamsfield leaders on the night were Katelyn Aldred with 11 digs, Kat Hunt with 9 kills, Molly Warner with 4 aces and Aldred with 2 blocks.
One night earlier, Williamsfield downed Stark County on Monday, 25-20, 25-15.
Leaders for Williamsfield were Warner with 9 aces, Hunt with 8 kills and Aldred with 10 digs.
Williamsfield won big over ROWVA last Wednesday 25-10, 25-16.
The Lady Bombers were led by Angelina Adame and Hunt with four digs each, Warner with six kills and Chloee Secrist with six aces.
Williamsfield will compete against Princeville Saturday at home.
Brimfield
The Lady Indians (0-2) were finally able to return to action Monday against North Fulton after a long stoppage due to COVID-19 protocols.
“It’s tough, we have a lot of games to play and not enough practices left to really fix some issues,” Coach Penny Silzer said. “We need to work together and be more consistent.”
Brimfield was to play Elmwood on Wednesday and then will hit the road to face Lewistown Thursday and then Knoxville Tuesday.
