Incidents & Accidents
Stark County

4-4-21 – A deer-related vehicle accident occurred on Route 93 approximately 100 feet west of the South Osceola Road. The driver involved was Kenneth L. Balma, 57, of Utica. No injuries were reported, but estimated damages of over $1,500 were noted to the 2016 Kenworth semi-truck.
4-9-21 – A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Main and Franklin Streets, in Toulon. The drivers involved were a 16-year-old Bradford teen and Christopher D. Roark, 18, of Toulon. The teen was intially stopped at a stop sign on North Franklin and during an attempt to pull through the intersection, he struck Roark’s vehicle traveling west on Main Street.
The teen’s vision reportedly was obscured to stopped traffic in the east bound lane. No tickets were issued and no injuries were reported.
4-6-21 – Rashaud L. Harris, 28, Aurora, was ticketed for driving without a driver’s license.
4-10-21 – Cole D. Carlson, 22, Neponset, was arrested on an outstanding Henry County warrant. He was released with a notice to appear in Henry County.
Galva Report
Officer dispatched:

4-5-21 – to the 600 block of NW 5th Ave. for a sick or injured raccoon. The raccoon was located, but was already deceased.
4-5 – to check on a loose horse near the roadway in the 800 block of SW 4th Street. The owner was contacted and put the horse away.
4-5 – to the 100 block of NW 7th Ave. for a burning complaint. The resident was educated about the city ordinance and burning on a non-burn day.
4-5 – to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 300 block of SE 3rd Street. As the result, Jason Brown, 36, Galesburg, was arrested for driving while license suspended, as well as, a warrant from Warren County for failure to appear on the charge of fleeing and eluding a police officer. He was able to post bond and was released with required court dates.
4-6 – to assist Henry County and other agencies with a high-speed chase with suspects from a Geneseo area gun shop burglary. The suspect vehicle was southbound from Atkinson. A Galva officer went north of town with spike strips, but the vehicle went east on Route 81 to Kewanee and eventually to the Peoria area.
4-6 – to a one-vehicle accident with minor damage only in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. A crash report was completed.
4-6 – to assist Knox County with a report of a subject walking south of Galva and a bicycle lying in the ditch. The Galva officer responded but wasn’t able to locate anyone or the bicycle.
4-8 – to the 400 block of North Center Ave. for a report of loud music or partying. The resident agreed to turn it down.
4-8 – to the 00 block of SW 4th Street for a loud noise complaint.
4-8 – to the 100 block of NE 9th Street, along with the Galva Fire Department, to check on an activated smoke alarm.
4-8 – to a welfare check on SW 6th Ave. It was determined to be a young child having an allergic reaction. The subject was taken by ambulance.
4-8 – to assist with traffic control for a funeral procession.
4-9 – Officer was notified about a missing juvenile. After checking with school staff, a biological parent picked the child up and failed to notify the caregiver. The child was fine.
4-9 – to the intersection of South Center Ave. and SE 5th Street for a disturbance involving a group of juveniles. Several parents were notified about the situation.
4-9 – to the 400 block of NW 1st Ave. for a trespassing complaint.
4-9 – As a result of a traffic stop in the 1000 block of North Center Ave., Juan Garfias, 41, Chicago, was arrested for driving while license suspended and speeding. He was released with a required court date.
4-10 – to the 400 block of North Center Ave. for a report involving a vehicle taken without owner’s permission.
4-11 – to the 600 block of NW 5th Street for a disturbance complaint involving a subject walking around. The subject was located but was not cooperative with police.
4-11 – to the 500 block of SE 2nd Street to assist a citizen who was asking for the police.
