Incidents & Accidents
Stark County

4-28 – Corey M. Reese, 46, Wyoming, arrested for obstructing and resisting a peace officer. He was later extradited to the Henry County Jail on a pending warrant.
4-28 – Norman D. Black, rural Toulon, reported a theft from his storage shed. Investigation continues.
4-29 -Patrick E. Sherbeyn, LaFayette, reported criminal damage to property after discovering a broken window of his backhoe. The incident is under investigation.
4-30 – A complaint of a dog biting a 7-year-old girl was reported to authorities by a Toulon resident. The canine was placed under a 10-day quarantine and the youngster was transported for medical attention.

Officer dispatched:

4-29 – to meet with a group of subjects seeking a solicitor’s permit. They were able to provide a permit.
4-29 – to the 500 block of NE 3rd Street for a loose-dog complaint. The dog was returned to its owner.
4-29 – to the 300 block of NE 5th Street for a threat complaint involving juveniles.
4-29 – to the 700 block of NW 4th Ave. for a telephone harassment complaint.
4-29 – to speak with a subject about a welfare check request for an adult daughter in Galva.
4-29 – to the 300 block of NE 6th St. for a disorderly conduct complaint.
4-30 – to the 200 block of S. Exchange St. for a semi-truck that had a small fire in the rear brakes. The fire department also responded.
4-30 – Officer was flagged down in the 900 block of N. Center Ave. by a citizen who found a small amount of cannabis in a child’s possession. The item was taken for destruction.
4-30 – Officer was flagged down by a citizen in the 900 block of North Center Ave in reference to a cat that ran away as they arrived at the vet clinic. The cat was not located.
4-30 – to the 200 block of NW 7th Ave. for a domestic disturbance.
4-30 – to the 200 block of NE 5th St. for a downed utility wire complaint. Mediacom was notified.
4-30 – to speak with a resident in the 500 block of SE 3rd Ave. who was blowing grass into the roadway. They were advised that it was against city ordinance and state law.
4-30 – to the 500 block of SE 4th St. for a complaint about a dog.
4-30 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of S. Center Ave., Allen Shoen, 33, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a court date.
5-1 – to a residence on SW 2nd Ave. for a suicidal subject.
5-1 – to the 300 block of NE 5th St. for a flag down complaint.
5-1 – to the 800 block of NE 2nd St. for a solicitor complaint. The subject had a valid permit.
5-2 -to the 600 block of W. Division St. for a traffic complaint. Officer located the offender and a report was sent to the state’s attorney’s office for consideration.
5-2 – to the 300 block of SW 3rd St. for a 911 hangup complaint. Officer responded and spoke to a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental-health crisis.
5-2 – to the 00 block of Wallace St. to collect several debit cards found along the roadway. Officer walked the same route and found several more items. The owner was contacted and the items were returned.
5-2 – to the 700 block of NW 4th St. for a civil complaint involving a subject cutting down a tree that landed on a house, causing damage.
5-2 – to the 00 block of SE 2nd Ave. to assist Knox County with a trash-dumping complaint.
5-2 – to the storage units in the 900 block of SE 2nd St. for a burglary complaint. Several padlocks were cut off and destroyed.
5-2 – to the 100 block of NE 9th St. for a theft complaint.
5-2 – to a residence on NW 2nd Ave. for a suicidal subject. Several loaded handguns were removed and the subject was taken by ambulance for treatment/evaluation.
5-3 – to the 200 block of NW 4th Ave. for a domestic battery report.
5-3 – to assist Henry County with a fatal car vs. bicycle accident several miles south of Kewanee.
5-4 – to a medical emergency on SW 8th Ave. for an intoxicated subject who kept falling.
5-4 – Officer provided traffic control for a few minutes as the Abate Motorcycle Awareness Ride passed through town.
5-4 – to a residence on NW 2nd Ave for a welfare check.
5-4 – to the 200 block of NW 1st Ave for a disturbance complaint.
5-4 – While patrolling, officer located a small child falling out of a window at Sentry Estates. Officer contacted a parent.
5-4 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 1100 block of SE 2nd St., Vanessa Chavez, 30, Galesburg, was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle, driving while license suspended and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver. She was released with a court date.
5-5 – to the 1000 block of West Division Street for a loose dog complaint. Officer was not able to locate.
