Stark County Report
6-19-20 – Kenneth E. Crew Jr., 51, of Lacon, was mowing on a John Deere tractor alongside of the highway on Route 78 when the machinery threw a rock into the traffic and struck an approaching vehicle in the front passenger door of a truck being driven by Kessler J. Klopfenstein, of Howe, Ind. No injuries were reported but the vehicle sustained over $1,500 in estimated damages.
6-21-20 – A single-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Silver and Gold Streets in Bradford. The driver involved was Carol D. Johnston, 69, of Bradford. She was transported by Stark County Ambulance to OSF St. Francis Hospital, in Peoria.
6-23-20 – A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Routes 91 and 93. Drivers involved were Tyler M. Morrissey, 27, Wyoming, and Jessica E. Colvin, 34, of Bradford. Morrissey reportedly was traveling north on Route 91 when he struck Colvin’s vehicle headed east on Route 93. Morrissey was transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.
Colvin refused medical treatment at the scene. Morrissey was later ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to stop or yield at an intersection.
6-22-20 – A theft complaint was reported by a rural Bradford resident to authorities at the Stark County Sheriff’s Department. The incident remains under investigation.
6-23-20 – Sarah E. Ozuna, 44, Toulon, was cited for allowing a dog to run at large. The canine reportedly had bitten a child.
6-23-20 – Joshua D. Davidson, 39, of Kewanee, was arrested following an attempted traffic stop on Route 78 and 700 N. by Stark County Deputy Dawson J. Nuding. The vehicle reportedly attempted to flee for approximately 24 miles covering a route that involved travel through Stark County, Galva, and Altona.
Davidson was charged with felony counts including possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, reckless conduct, obstructing justice, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer. He was also cited for a loud muffler, improper lane usage, driving while his license was suspended, speeding 110 mph in a 55 zone, and failure to signal when required.
He was also found wanted on a Stark County warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of driving on a suspended license. Davidson was taken into custody and extradited to the Stark County Jail.
On June 25, he appeared in Putnam County Court where his Stark County bond was set at 10 percent of $25,000. Unable to post bond, he remains in jail.
Also charged in the same incident was Felicia P. Warner, 33, Kewanee, for felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, and possession of hypodermic needles.
Also, Brandon A. Lopez, 28, Kewanee, was charged with felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, and possession of hypodermic needles. Both Warner and Lopez were released with notices to appear in court.
Assisting the Stark County Sheriff’s Department with the incident were the Knox and Henry County Sheriff’s Departments, the Galva Police Department and the Illinois State Police.
6-24-20 – Ashley N. Wiley, 20, LaFayette, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper use of an electronic device.
6-25-20 – Brandon A. Lopez, 28, Kewanee, was issued a notice to appear by the Toulon Police Department for theft from a coin machine at the Toulon Laundromat, following an incident that occurred on Feb. 3.
6-25-20 – Christopher N. Crandell, 40, Pekin, was arrested by the Stark County Sheriff’s Department on an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant.
6-26-20 – Ryan J. Eklund, 20, Kewanee, was arrested on a Henry County warrant for failure to appear on the original charge for domestic battery. He posted bond and was released with a new court date to appear.
6-26-20 – Iesha L. Crowe, 21, Kewanee, was cited for speeding 70 mph in a 55 zone and for driving on a suspended license.
6-26-20 – Patrick K. Sloan, 38, Galva, was cited for driving without a valid registration.
6-26-20 – Maxwell C. Brady, 34, Camp Grove, was arrested for possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released with a court date to appear.
6-26-20 – Stephanie J. Mullins, 31, Kewanee, was cited for illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver and driving without insurance.
6-27-20 – Kimberly I. Kerg, Kewanee, was arrested for driving while her license was suspended, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver, and violation with the Illinois Criminal Statute known as Scott’s Law (failure to move over for emergency vehicles). She was released with a notice to appear.
6-27-20 – Justin C. Potter, 30, Wyoming, was arrested for burglary. He was taken into custody and transported to the Stark County jail.
6-27-20 – Christopher M. K. Rakestraw, 39, Peoria, was cited for failure to yield at an intersection and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The citations were issued in conjunction to a two vehicle accident that Rakestraw was involved in at 1400E and 500N. No additional information was made ready available.
6-28-20 – Celeste R. Knebel, 25, Washington, was arrested for driving while her license was suspended and improper vehicle lighting.
Galva Report
6-22-20 – Officer dispatched to the 900 block of SE 2nd Street for a complaint involving a detained cat. The cat was taken to the vet’s office and later returned to its owner.
6-22-20 – Officer flagged down in the downtown area about “loud fireworks” that were being set off somewhere around West Division Street and SW 9th Ave.
6-22-10 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street, Dalayna Harmon, 20, Kewanee, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license. She was released with a required court date.
6-22-20 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 700 block of West Division Street, Robert Miller, 29, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended. He was released with a required court date.
6-23-20 – Officer dispatched to the 100 block of Main Street for a report involving a young child being outside without adequate supervision. The parent was located and the child returned.
6-23-20 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of NW 7th Ave., Rebecca Johnson, 23, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended. She was released with a required court date.
6-23-20 – A Galva officer assisted with a high-speed chase that Stark County was involved with. The chase went through Galva and ultimately ended with an arrest in Altona. The driver, Joshua Davidson, 39, Kewanee, was charged for numerous violations within the Galva City limits. The traffic charges are: Driving in the wrong lane, reckless driving, five counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, driving onto private property to avoid a traffic control device, driving too fast for conditions, aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving while license suspended and speeding 98 in a 35 mph zone.
Galva police also charged Davidson with possession of methamphetamine, possession of hypodermic needles, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, obstructing justice and reckless conduct after Davidson reportedly threw a container out of the vehicle in town during this incident. Davidson was transported to the Stark County Jail for numerous charges through their department.
6-24-20 – Officer was flagged down about a semi-truck that struck a railroad crossing arm at the Exchange Street crossing. BNSF was notified for repairs.
6-24-20 – Officer dispatched to the 100 block of SE 2nd Ave. for an activated burglar alarm. It was determined that a pet activated the alarm.
6-24-20 – Officer dispatched to the 1000 block of West Division Street for fireworks complaint. The offender was given a warning that fireworks are illegal.
6-24-20 – Officer dispatched to the 200 block of NW 1st Ave. for a theft complaint.
6-24-20 – Officer dispatched to the 600 block of NE 2nd Street for an attempted phone scam.
6-24-20 – As the result of a battery complaint in the 00 block of NE 4th Ave., Joseph Arnold, 37, Galva, was arrested for domestic battery and transported to the Henry County jail.
6-25-20 – Officer dispatched to assist Stark County Medic with an activated medical alarm. It was an accidental activation.
6-25-20 – Officer notified by BNSF Railroad that they received an alarm for the Exchange Street crossing that was malfunctioning.
6-25-20 – Officer dispatched to the 00 block of SW 9th Ave. for an ongoing issue with fireworks being set off. As a result, Joseph Sallee, 39, Galva, was issued a citation for violation of the pyrotechnic use act.
6-26-20 – Officer dispatched to multiple complaints involving fireworks being set off on the north side of town. Officer unable to locate the source.
6-26-20 – Officer dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2nd Street for a gas drive off.
6-26-20 – Officer dispatched to the 00 block of NE 2nd Street for a trespassing complaint.
6-27-20 – Officer dispatched to the 400 block of SW 4th Ave. for a harrassment complaint involving text messages.
6-27-20 – Officer dispatched to the 1200 block of NW 3rd Ave. for a complaint involving suspicious persons. The subjects were attempting to catch frogs.
6-27-20 – Officer dispatched Olaf Krans Ave. for a fireworks complaint, officer was unable to locate the source.
6-27-20 – As the result of a traffic stop in the 1200 block of SE 2nd Street, the driver, Gustavo Avilez, 19, Kewanee, was arrested for speeding more than 35 mph over the limit.
His passengers, Efrain Corral, 19, Kewanee, and Carlos Vargas, 20, Cicero, were each issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol by a passenger.
6-28-20 – Officer dispatched to the intersection of West Division Street and NW 4th Ave. for a two vehicle accident with damage only.
