• YATES CITY – A Yates City man hid from law-enforcement authorities who eventually arrested him for multiple crimes.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived shortly before 7:15 p.m. Dec. 26 at a residence in the 400 block of S. Dixon St. in search of Zachary R. Cassel, 33. A man who answered the door told the deputies he believed Cassel was home, a sheriff’s-office report stated.

A deputy then saw through a window the man talking with Cassel, who then left the room. The man returned to the door and said he believed Cassel was not home but allowed the deputy inside to look for him. The deputy found Cassel walking out of his bedroom.

Cassel was wanted in Knox County for failure to appear in court regarding a forgery/theft case. He was wanted in Peoria County for failure to appear regarding three charges: unlawful use of a credit card, retail theft and two counts of forgery.

A deputy transported Cassel to the Knox County Jail in Galesburg. On Dec. 29, he was transferred to the Peoria County Jail, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

• FARMINGTON – An Elmwood man and his passenger required hospital attention following a single-vehicle wreck north of Farmington.

Shortly after 1:45 p.m. Dec. 13, Zachary T. Bomhold was driving a 2001 Ford pickup truck north on Illinois Route 78 at Korth Road when he lost control and slid off the pavement. The vehicle rolled onto its passenger side, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

Bomhold and his passenger, a male, complained about right arm and shoulder pain. They were transported to Graham Hospital in Canton. The vehicle sustained passenger-side damage and was towed. Elmwood firefighters and BYE Ambulance Service also responded.

• KICKAPOO – A Brimfield man admitted he sideswiped another vehicle while driving near Kickapoo.
Sean O. Sullivan was behind the wheel of a westbound 2014 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck about 9:45 a.m. Dec. 13 on U.S. Route 150 at Voorhees Road when he sideswiped an eastbound 2022 Toyota Corolla driven by Feliciano R. Castillo of Lomax, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.

Sullivan said he overcorrected because he couldn’t see lines on the road in the snow. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles sustained minor damage.

• PRINCEVILLE – A 2016-model dirtbike was reported stolen from a property northeast of Princeville.
The apparent theft happened sometime before about 9:15 a.m. Dec. 13 in the 5900 block of W. County Line Rd., a redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated. The victim was a 43-year-old man.

• WEST PEORIA – Jesse A. Herrmann, 25, of Hanna City was accused of improperly passing an emergency vehicle, squealing his vehicle’s tires and reckless driving on Dec. 12 at about 3:15 p.m. at Sterling and Rohmann avenues. A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was working a traffic detail in his squad car when the incident occurred.

• TRIVOLI – A Trivoli man driving a snowplow avoided injury from a two-vehicle wreck south of his hometown.

Bradley M. Bolton was behind the wheel of the southbound 2026 Mack truck before 8:15 a.m. Dec. 12 in the 5200 block of S. Stone School Rd. when a northbound 2017 Honda slid on a curve and into the plow, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.


Madison R. Wefenstette of Canton was the other driver. She was uninjured after her vehicle came to rest in a ditch. Both vehicles were drivable.

• BELLEVUE – An Edwards woman said she stopped her vehicle in Bellevue because of a dog in the roadway, after which another vehicle crashed into hers.

Crystal G. Chiaravalle was driving a 2016 Nissan Altima north on Airport Road at Mine Hollow Road when the accident happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. Dec. 10, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The other vehicle was a 2019 Jeep Cherokee driven by Lisa A. Lee of Peoria.


Lee said she tried to swerve out of the way. No injuries were reported. Chiaravalle was cited for driving with a suspended license and for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Her vehicle was impounded.


• OAK RUN – An Oak Run man left an accident scene because he was tired and didn’t want to wait in the cold for police, he told authorities.

Graham A. McDaniel, 21, admitted to driving a 2022 Ford F-250 pickup truck that slid on ice about 2 a.m. Dec. 6 in the 1500 block of Knox Highway 12 and overturned, a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report stated. A deputy found the vacant truck on its side in a ditch about 6:45 a.m.


McDaniel was cited for leaving the scene of an accident with vehicle damage and for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. His truck was impounded.

• EDWARDS – Four mailboxes were found broken and lying in a ditch south of Edwards.

The damage in the 2600 block of N. Taylor Rd. was reported about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 4, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. Tire tracks were found in the east-side ditch, and the mailboxes were south of where they stood originally.


• LAURA – Witnesses said a Kewanee man was driving recklessly north of Laura, according to authorities.
Andrew K. Hulslander, 39, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. Dec. 2 in the 20400 block of W. Lorance Rd., according to a redacted Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. He was accused of driving a 2018 Jeep too fast for conditions and of driving with a suspended license, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
Witnesses included a 37-year-old Laura man and a 46-year-old Princeville man. Illinois State Police also responded. Hulslander’s vehicle was towed.

• PRINCEVILLE – Jesse L. Rosas, 38, of Princeville was arrested shortly before 9:45 a.m. Dec. 17 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.


• FARMINGTON – Roger D. Edwards, 50, of Farmington was arrested about 7 p.m. Dec. 10 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Farmington Police Department.


• BRIMFIELD – David J. Berry, 66, of Brimfield was arrested shortly after 10:15 a.m. Dec. 10 and accused of failure to appear in court, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

• FARMINGTON – Dustin R. Maples, 24, of Farmington was arrested Dec. 8 and accused of failure to appear in court regarding a theft charge, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

• FARMINGTON – Jayden E. Dressler, 25, of Farmington reported to authorities shortly before 4:30 p.m. Dec. 8 regarding an outstanding, unspecified warrant, according to a local police report. Dressler was transported to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.


• FARMINGTON – Chief Chris Darsham reported the following Farmington Police Department activity for November: 210 business checks, 3,270 building checks, four crashes, four property crimes, 13 traffic tickets, 38 ordinance violations, two crimes against people, 17 miscellaneous, 46 traffic stops, 14 total arrests, 28 reports, 305 total calls and 21 calls to assist other police departments.
