• KICKAPOO – A Princeville woman’s vehicle caught fire after it struck a deer northeast of Kickapoo.
Jamie M. Huber was driving an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet sport-utility vehicle shortly before 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 in the 7200 block of W. Grange Hall Rd. when she was unable to avoid hitting the deer, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.

After Huber pulled to the side of the road, she noticed flames emanating from the vehicle’s right-front side. A deputy doused the fire with a bucket of water. Huber declined medical attention. Her vehicle was towed. Dunlap firefighters also responded.

• WATAGA – A Williamsfield-area woman was driving 33 mph above the speed limit before a Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped her southwest of Wataga.

Shawna M. Kivisto, 48, was behind the wheel of a 2005 GMC vehicle that was traveling 50 mph in a 30 mph zone shortly before 11:45 a.m. Feb. 6 in the 100 block of N. Depot Rd., according to a sheriff’s-office report. As the deputy gave chase on Knox Highway 40, the vehicle sped to 88 mph in a 55-mph zone.
After she was pulled over, at Knox highways 9 and 40, Kivisto said she was having problems with the speedometer of the vehicle, which she usually doesn’t drive. She received a notice to appear in Knox County Circuit Court in Galesburg.

• PEORIA – An Edwards woman who was stopped in Peoria for a traffic violation was wanted in three counties on drugs-related charges.

Jaclyn Mattson, 45, was driving a 2012 Dodge Charger a Peoria police officer pulled over shortly after 2 a.m. Feb. 6 at Peoria and Illinois avenues. The vehicle had no functional registration light, according to a police report.

A glass pipe and copper wire were found on Mattson. She had active warrants in DeWitt and Tazewell counties for possession of a controlled substance, McLean County regarding manufacture/delivery of cocaine and Peoria County for obstructing justice.

Mattson was accused of possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing justice and driving with a suspended license. She was transported to the Peoria County Jail.

• PRINCEVILLE – An Edelstein woman appeared to be uninjured following a single-vehicle crash in Princeville.

Shortly before 11:45 a.m. Feb. 5, Britney M. Courteau was driving a 2018 Buick Encore sport-utility vehicle west on Main Street when at Town Avenue the SUV struck a utility pole that was flush with the curb, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report stated.

Courteau said she might have been changing the radio station or grabbing her lip gloss at the time of the accident. The SUV sustained disabling damage and was towed. Courteau was cited for operating an uninsured vehicle and for having no valid vehicle registration.

• NORWOOD – A two-vehicle accident in Norwood that involved a Farmington man and a Hanna City woman resulted in no apparent injuries. Shortly before 8:30 a.m. Feb. 3, Thadeus B. Huffman was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu that was stopped at a traffic signal on Farmington Road at Maxwell Road when a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox sport-utility vehicle rear-ended it, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

Molly K. Zaborac was the other driver. She said she was stopped behind the Malibu when her foot slipped off the brake and she accelerated. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were drivable.

• BELLEVUE – A Peoria man was accused of burglarizing a Bellevue business a 69-year-old Hanna City man owns.

Kerington K. Johnson, 25, was arrested at noon Feb. 2 in Farmington following the incident. A Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched about 90 minutes earlier to Farmington Coin Laundry, 4712 W. Farmington Rd.

A sheriff’s-office report about the incident was heavily redacted. Johnson was charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and criminal damage to property.

• YATES CITY – An Elmwood man was being sought following an incident in which a Yates City woman may have sustained a broken nose. A Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy was summoned about 8:30 p.m. Feb. 1 to a residence in the 200 block of N. Kellogg St. There the deputy found the 35-year-old woman, whose nose appeared bruised, swollen and shifted, according to a sheriff’s-office report.

The victim accused the 34-year-old suspect of punching her. He left the residence, and an ensuing search for him was futile. An ambulance transported the victim to Carle Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified.

• YATES CITY – No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle wreck south of Yates City.
Amber L. Delbridge, 37, of Princeville was driving a southbound 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander sport-utility vehicle shortly before 5:30 p.m. Jan. 26 on Knox Road 2300 East when at Knox Road 300 North she lost control on snow and ice, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report.

The SUV crossed the northbound lane into a ditch and struck a culvert at the northwest corner of the intersection. Delbridge had one passenger, a 9-year-old Princeville girl. The vehicle was towed after it sustained damage to its left-front tire and axle.

• WILLIAMSFIELD – A Moline woman was accused of various traffic-related offenses after she was stopped while driving south of Williamsfield.

Mia J.D. May, 21, was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet sedan a Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over about 12:30 p.m. Jan. 26 on Interstate 74 near mile marker 62. May was driving 10 mph above the 55-mph construction-zone speed limit, a sheriff’s-office report stated.

A check revealed May’s driver’s license was suspended. She was cited for that and for speeding and received a date to appear in Knox County Circuit Court in Galesburg.

• OAK HILL – Shortly before 7:45 a.m. Feb. 3, Debra D. Windish of Elmwood was driving a northbound 2020 Cadillac XT6 in the 5500 block of N. Texas Rd. south of Oak Hill when the vehicle struck a deer head on, per a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.

Windish was uninjured. The vehicle was drivable but sustained damage to its grille, hood, passenger-side headlight and front bumper and fender.

• PRINCEVILLE – Jesse L. Rosas, 38, of Princeville was arrested shortly before 6 a.m. Feb. 10 and accused of bringing contraband into a penal institution, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

• GALESBURG – These were among calls to which the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded between Feb. 1-7: two fires, Dahinda; stray dog, Yates City; theft, Farmington.
