Fairview man accused of hitting relative’s car

FARMINGTON – A Fulton County man was accused of ramming his pickup truck into his stepfather’s vehicle at a Farmington car wash, according to authorities.
Chase L. McFarland, 27, of Fairview was arrested following the incident, which happened shortly before 5 p.m. May 6 at Home Town Car Wash, 591 E. Fort St.
According to a police report, Brandon L. Sparks, 48, of Dahinda was vacuuming his 2007 Honda Civic while on his knees outside the car with the driver’s-side door open. He told police McFarland drove his 2006 Ford F150 into the door, which struck Sparks’ left leg. McFarland then drove away.
While reviewing security-camera footage of the incident, a Farmington officer received a telephone call from a colleague in Fairview who apprehended McFarland. The suspect was transported to Farmington, where he was questioned.
According to police, McFarland said he saw his stepfather at the car wash but left immediately to avoid conflict. McFarland’s truck had a fresh paint mark that matched a dent on Sparks’ car. Sparks’ left thigh also was bruised, scraped and painful.
McFarland was charged with aggravated domestic battery and failure to remain at the scene of a personal-injury or fatal motor-vehicle accident, among other crimes. He was transported to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in Lewistown.

Farmington woman cited in two-car crash

HANNA CITY – A Farmington woman was cited for failure to reduce speed regarding a two-vehicle collision May 11 in Hanna City, according to authorities.
About 3:30 p.m., Marilyn L. Huson, 76, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro west on Farmington Road when at Second Street it hit the rear of a 2014 Toyota Prius driven by Elizabeth A. Melton, 42, of Hanna City.
The Prius was stopped behind a school bus, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report.
Melton was injured, although the report was not specific. An ambulance transported Melton to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Huson said she did not see Melton’s vehicle brake.

Death of Princeville man under investigation

PRINCEVILLE – Authorities are investigating the death last week of a 33-year-old Princeville man.
Wesley W. Koehler was pronounced dead at 1:10 p.m. May 20, according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood. Peoria County Sheriff’s deputies had been summoned to a residence in the 200 block of E. North St. in Princeville.
According to Harwood, there is no way to know for now what caused Koehler’s death. Toxicology results from an autopsy are pending, a process that usually takes five or six weeks.
Foul play is not suspected, Harwood stated. A detective has been assigned to the case, according to sheriff’s-office Capt. Chris Watkins.

Dunlap woman arrested for violating order

BRIMFIELD – A Dunlap woman was arrested and accused of violating an order of protection filed on behalf of a Brimfield-area child, according to authorities.
Jessica L. Rothert, 41, was issued a notice to appear in Peoria County Circuit Court regarding an incident that happened before 9 a.m. April 30 at a residence in the 12600 block of West Brimfield-Jubilee Road.
A 41-year-old man who resides there said Rothert violated an order of protection by contacting his 8-year-old son through the Snapchat instant-messaging application, a sheriff’s-office report stated. Rothert is the man’s girlfriend, and the order covers the man and his son, according to the report.
When the deputy contacted Rothert, she admitted to sending the Snapchat message but said she was confused about terms of the protection order. The deputy reiterated the no-contact provision.

Police reports

• FARMINGTON – Police summoned to a Farmington residence about a domestic disturbance arrested a man there in connection with another case. Eric Brand, 41, was detained about 12:30 p.m. May 10 at his trailer home in the 100 block of W. Pearl St. Officers discovered Brand was wanted in Tazewell County for a traffic violation. He was transported to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.

• FARMINGTON – About 10 p.m. May 10, a 2008 Lexus driven by Devonaire D. Dawson, 25, of Concord, N.C., was stopped in the 1000 block of E. Fort St. for a suspected traffic violation. Dawson was cited for improper passing and for possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle outside of an approved container.

• EDWARDS – A company-owned Android tablet worth between $200-$300 was reported stolen sometime between May 6 and 1 p.m. May 9 from a semi-trailer truck parked at Cadbury Schweppes Bottling Group, 7215 N. Kickapoo-Edwards Road, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office report. The truck driver said the passenger-side cab door might have been unlocked. There was no information regarding a suspect.

• PEORIA – About 9:30 p.m. May 8, Alexis N. Haynes, 25, of Farmington was driving a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander west on Grange Hall Road near Pauli Road in Radnor Township when it collided with two deer that were crossing from the north. One deer was dead upon a Peoria County Sheriff’s deputy’s arrival. The deputy used one round from her duty weapon to kill the other deer. No injuries to Haynes were reported, but the vehicle sustained severe front-end damage and was towed.

• HANNA CITY – Eric Miller, 50, of Hanna City was arrested about 5:30 p.m. May 17 and accused of domestic battery/physical contact, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
