Police reports
• YATES CITY – Michael D. Smith, 30, of Yates City was charged on April 27 with domestic battery according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s report.
• HANNA CITY – Michael S. Mapes, 50, of Hanna City was charged on April 30 with a violation of order of protection according to Peoria County Sheriff’s report.
• HANNA CITY – Wendy E. Layton, 54, of Hanna City was charged on May 2 with domestic battery, according to a sheriff’s report.
• ELMWOOD – Joseph M. Carrington, 32, of Elmwood was charged on May 3 with domestic battery, interference with a report of domestic battery and unlawful restraint, according to a sheriff’s report.
• FARMINGTON – A man has been charged and two others implicated in several thefts of catalytic converters in Farmington, according to a Farmington police report. Christian Wagner, 26, of Peoria was charged with five total counts of theft over $500 for four catalytic converters taken from Farmington’s bus barn on April 6 and one from Kitchen Cooked Inc. at 632 N. Main St. in Farmington on April 14. Wagner was interviewed by Farmington police and other agencies where he admitted to the thefts with the two other suspects.
• FARMINGTON – Police were called to a junk yard in the 400 block of W. Court St. on April 30 where a burglary was in progress, according to a Farmington police report. William Chaney, 18, of Farmington was charged with theft over $500 along with two juveniles from Farmington and one juvenile from Canton.
• FARMINGTON – A traffic stop at around 2:15am on May 3 resulted in a traffic violation for the driver and a charge for the passenger, according to a Farmington police report. Kiley Evans, 39, of Topeka was charged with possession of adult-use cannabis (3 grams) in a motor vehicle in an unapproved container. She was also wanted on a Mason County warrant for failure to appear on a charge related to driving while driver’s license is revoked. She was released and given a court date. The vehicle was impounded.
• FARMINGTON – Joseph C. Bazzell, 26, of Farmington was charged with a violation of order of protection on May 2 when he was observed by police at a protected address, according to a Farmington police report.
• FARMINGTON – The Farmington Police Department’s report for April showed: 328 calls for the month, 60 traffic stops, 34 reports completed, 31 ordinance violations, 21 assists to other police departments, 15 arrests, 10 property crimes, 6 crashes handled, 6 crimes against people and 12 miscellaneous items.
