Farmington police
looking into theft reports

FARMINGTON – A black female and a white male were seen stealing items from the Circle K on East Fort Street in Farmington on Jan. 30 at two separate times, according to a Farmington police report.
At around 4:30 p.m., store video showed the male sticking a 750 ml bottle of Jose Cuervo in his pants and the female putting 750 ml bottles of Crown Royal and Absolut Vodka in her coat. The couple left together without paying.
Then at 9:25 p.m., the couple returned to the gas station and asked for directions to the Casey’s General Store. The female was seen putting a tray of multi-colored Bic lighters in her pocket. The couple also entered the Casey’s store, but didn’t take anything. Police are investigating.
Police reports

• PRINCEVILLE – Matthew C. Hawkins, 48, of Princeville was charged on Jan. 31 with burglary, according to a Peoria County Sheriff’s report.
• FARMINGTON – William Hammond, 23, of Farmington was stopped at Fort and Cone streets on Jan. 17 after police noticed no rear registration plate on the vehicle, according to a Farmington police report. He was additionally charged with driving on a suspended/revoked driver’s license.
• FARMINGTON – Police were dispatched to the 100 block of S. Mill St. on Jan. 27 regarding a report of domestic battery. Investigation at the scene revealed that not only had the victim been beaten, her dog was also beaten when it attempted to protect her, according to a Farmington police report. The dog was deceased when police arrived. Micheal Copeland, 47, of Farmington was charged with domestic battery and aggravated animal cruelty. He was transported to Fulton County Jail.
• ELMWOOD – Elmwood Police Chief Aaron Bean reports the following activity for January: 1 arrest, 5 traffic stops, 0 citations, 5 warnings, 20 reports, 0 ordinance violations and a total of 31 incidents handled.
• FARMINGTON – Police responded to a theft complaint in the 300 block of Norwest St. on Jan. 24, according to a Farmington police report. It was determined that 137 Lyrica pills were stolen. The suspect was last seen in Peoria.
• FARMINGTON – On Feb. 5, Cole Blythe, 32, of Farmington was transported by police to the Fulton County Jail regarding an active warrant, according to a Farmington police report. The warrant was for a failure to appear in court regarding a charge of possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle.
• FARMINGTON – Farmington police chief Chris Darsham reports the following activity for January: 284 business checks, 7 crashes handled, 3 property crimes, 15 ordinance violations/traffic tickets issued, 2 crimes against people, 68 traffic stops, 4 arrests, 28 reports completed, 253 calls, 18 assists for other police departments, 5 miscellaneous items.
• YATES CITY – Yates City Police Chief Randy Benson reported the following totals for 2021: 5 arrests, 219 reports, 107 traffic stops, 32 tickets, 105 warnings, 2 NTAs and 9 open doors in an average of 58.42 hours of officer time per week.
