Elmwood buys street sweeper

ELMWOOD – The Elmwood City Council approved the purchase of a refurbished street sweeping machine during an abbreviated monthly meeting on Dec. 7.

Cost of the refurbished street sweeper is $57,500.

Economic Development Director Amy Davis was not present, but had submitted a written report to the council. Davis wrote that she has helped in finding a replacement business for Cerno’s, which is to close in Elmwood in the near future.

Davis reported that the Horeb Lodge repairs are completed and that the café and post office “are both fully open.”

There was a post mural committee meeting held and planning-fundraising for the 2022 murals will be scheduled.

In addition, Davis wrote that the Elmwood Christmas Walk was planned; and she is working on grant opportunities. The Peoria Area Convention Visitors’ Bureau has a completed “landing page and list of hospitality businesses” for Elmwood.

Police Chief Aaron Bean reported that there were 4 arrests, 2 stops, no citations, 2 warnings, 29 reports, 2 notices to appear, no open doors, 1 ordinance violation cited and 40 incidents handled by the police department during the month of November.

Discussion/action of a Tax Increment Financing grant and application was tabled.
